I’m presuming it’s a typo in the article as it first says he was the one to wake in the night. I think it means to report her story is that he awoke at 3.30am to make a call (if to England, what time would it be in England?)

This I believe is true. Maybe they were arguing when he said he was going to call home, and he locked her out of the room.

But, I don't feel right now, that this was because he wanted to knife himself to death; and if he had been suicidal there are far easier ways to do it.

This does feel more like a jealous frenzied attack from another person - however, if that were the case, he would have tried to defend himself, so it will be interesting to hear were there any other marks on him, on the girlfriend, and where the blood was pooled and splattered.

Could a third person even be involved who carried out the attack?

I'm also wondering about a potential third person being involved in this.
Has she arranged someone to murder him? Is there insurance money involved? If she is a con artist as claimed, could she be paying someone corrupt within the local police to help cover it up?

So many questions!

Well, no, not as yet. Two conflicting stories, one that he was hallucinating, and the other he was on a call. Presumably that can be verified by the ex and the stepdaughter as to whether he had finished talking to them or not, and to his state of mind.

A couple of thoughts/questions:

1) If the partner, EMP, was responsible for attacking MH, then wouldn’t the other witnesses - neighbours (Kresna, Kevin, Tobi) and colleague/property owner (Ica - the one who had a key) - have noticed blood spatter on her before she was able to get back in to attend to him (as reported by Ica - that EMP attempted to administer CPR)?

2) Who is Kris, who “bugged” MH?

3) How many calls, if any, did MH make - originally reported as a video call with stepdaughter and ex, later reports talk of a call with a stepson Laurant. I’m wondering if the translation is making female pronouns masculine, and stepson Laurant is actually the stepdaughter (the name Lauren perhaps?) as the reporting appears to use “he” when reporting on actions EMP took - at least, I think. I initially envisaged a video call as a sit-down laptop job, but it may also be a FaceTime type call from a mobile I guess. And it may be that MH didn’t make a call at all, and instead the “he” being reported is a mistranslated EMP calling the stepdaughter from outside with concerns about MH “hallucinating” or harming himself, which is when she alleges she became locked out. This would correct my own post above about typos in the other report.

ETA: there is a report on page 1 of this thread that backs this latter version up: that MH escorted EMP out of the property/EMP fled, at which point EMP called the stepdaughter in England in a panic. Brit knifed to death in Bali was 'hallucinating' before he died, claims lover

4) There is a fairly large amount of time between a 3.30am call and 6am-6.10am access, so would be interesting to learn what happened in this window - how long was the call(s) to England, when did it(they) start and end. Does it make it possible for EMP to have cleaned up any blood on her own clothing and staged a suicide (not an accusation, just speculating)?

ETA: the above report suggests the call could have been made from EMP to the stepdaughter nearer the 6am time (before access was granted back to the room), and perhaps the 3.30am awaking by MH was the start of the incident but not a call. That said, this contradicts initial reports that the family in England allegedly witnessed his murder whilst on the phone to him, not EMP.
