I hope you don't ask the Mods to do that. I respect your not wanting to view it and it only is a link that someone has to click to see. Others might find it interesting and I was glad I was able to watch another point of view. Not everyone has logged on today and might want to view it.
:seeya:

We all have our own filters and choices. There are posts here that we can scroll right past if we wish. We can choose to not look, not read, and keep on moving. Asking for increased censorship isn't the best idea, IMO. There are links here to photos that may be upsetting, offensive, etc but they exist and it's our choice to view or not.
Contact the video maker with your heartfelt views to share what you feel after seeing as much as you did.

JoseBaez: Jodi arias is a wonderful witness (eye contact with jurors, verbal skills (Kaddy's paraphrase) etc.
Jose Baez: He only problem is that the prosecution has so many "bad facts."

KW: Ya think?:ohwow:

Its over already? I missed it? Dang....that was faster than my prom night....

I'm really beginning to feel uncomfortable with this public flogging of Jodi. This has turned into a bullying session just like the ones we try to teach our children is not okay.

Jodi is guilty of murdering Travis. She knows it, we know it. She will spend the rest of her life in prison.

HLN is making lots of $$ from the Jodi show. The quality of advertisers has gradually increased. We even have cheer leaders under the guise of highly paid 'commentators'.

Enough is enough. It's getting gross.

I truly believe if she had shown remorse, any sign of remorse, the "public flogging" on here anyway would be far less. IMO, The comments on here are not bullying by any means. IMO, the majority of the posters on here are mostly outraged at her lies in an attempt to "bully" the family and friends of TA. One look at the faces of his family: the sorrow, the anger, the pain evokes sympathy from me and outrage at JA for putting them through this. JA could have pled guilty to 1st degree murder with LWOP but she did not. Hence, we are here, as a public forum to express our feelings as the family publicly cannot. Respectfully,IMO

If the point the OP was making is that is kind of petty for the TH's to ridicule JA because she has a cold sore or because her pants are frumpy then I totally agree, especially after reading the insightful posts by Mormon Attorney earlier today. It does get a little tedious on this forum when I am trying to keep up with an intelligent discussion about a fact or something that happened in the courtroom, but have to slog through four pages of posts of debate on whether or not JA's glasses are real or fake. I don't think anyone here is a JA supporter in any way shape or form, but you must admit that sometimes the personal bashing, especially coming from grown-ups, is a little bit silly. Just sayin'.

I agree dtzblnd. I am not reading much on the JA thread anymore because of the petty (IMO) criticisms. I prefer trial discussion. And the trial is becoming so tedious for me watch. Thank goodness for the WS Missing Persons and Cold Case threads I can read! MPs are what brought me to WS in the first place. This is the first trial I have watched and will probably be my last.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. As usual, I will be Jodi-free- the better half gets mad at me for following this trial. Hopefully, No Jodi , no headaches for a few days. Hopefully, I can bust it at work Monday and Tuesdau, so I can listen on Wednesday.

Saw a poll at Wildabouttrials where 12 percent of the poll audience believes the story of
self defense and 88 percent thinks as we do -planned murder.

Mormon Attorney, I've got a question if you're still around, because you always have great insights.

Initially on seeing Jodi on the stand, I was thinking that she was testifying exactly as I would have expected her to: lots and lots and lots of explanations, "I can explain everything away," snow people with stories about I knew what he liked to eat so I bought him groceries at the such-and-such store because it's cheaper and I'm always careful with my money and the vegetables are fresher and, and, and.

But a number of times I've heard her say when JM was getting on her about her inability to answer a question, he'd say "Did I ask you that?" And she'd say, "That's how I interpreted it."

So is that what she does? I mean, we all interpret what people are saying to a certain extent, but I'm wondering if her interactions with normal people leave her somewhat confused and she is constantly trying to figure out what's going on. Does that make sense? I feel like I'm not wording it well. Is it more than manipulation on her part?

Part of me is asking because I have a sister who is schizophrenic. It took me a long time to realize that the real world is this totally foreign place to her. If she has a problem and you ask her how she thinks other people handle it when they have that problem, she has no idea. She doesn't even realize that other people are in any way like her.

Sorry if I'm incoherent. I'm hoping you can make some sense of my ramblings!

You have caught on to one of the aspects of her personality that shows us who she really is. Who says that? "That's the way I interpreted it." She makes a number of comments which are similar. I am trying to remember one she made the other day that was like that. It was something when JM asked her why she did something. Instead of telling us, she passed it off as "I did this because...." and then said, "At least I think so..." I sat here thinking, you think so? You KNOW why you did X, Y, Z - what on earth? Similar to when JM said, "If you don't know, who does?" and then she pulled in God.

From my viewpoint, there are four reasons this usually happens. Sometimes, for me and other parents, sorting them out is the tough part because you would deal with each one differently.

1. Disconnect with feelings. My child can literally disconnect/dissociate in a way that is amazing, especially from physical pain. Other medical procedures or dental procedures that would cause grief for another child, do not cause a reaction. This child can "go somewhere else." It is sad because they often learned this from abuse. They are in a different reality even though they are there.

2. Keeping lies straight. She is on the stand with a bunch of lies all over the place. She knows it. So, to maintain control, she has to keep her answers as vague as possible. That way, if challenged later, she can say, "Well, I told you, that's the way I interpreted it AT THE TIME. Now, I know...." It gives her wiggle room in case JM has something on her.

3. Control. She knows she is being evasive and that will drive the questioner nuts. She is trying to get control of JM, not answer, show him that he can't make her answer without looking bad in front of the jury. Small wins for her.

4. Very literal. I do think the world is foreign to JA. She knows she is so different and she is trying to act the part of normal. She does not have the benefit of feeling things everyone else assumes she can feel. The last thing she wants is for someone to catch on. So, she walks this fine line between pulling off her case and admitting that she does not have a clue how she is supposed to feel or answer.

In any given situation, as a parent, when I get a vague answer, I know we are usually dealing with one of these. For instance, if I ask, "Are you wearing clean clothes today?" the response is often, "I wore clean clothes YESTERDAY" forcing me to follow up and figure out which situation I am dealing with. It may take a good half hour of chasing down the rabbit hole (like JM) to figure out if my child is wearing clean clothes or pulled out the dirty ones to wear.

"Search this thread" with my name shows NO RESULTS (even on past threads.) If I just use "Furiously" as a keyword I get too many results unrelated to me. I have been wondering the same thing though--how to find when I am quoted--to follow the comments/answers.

YES this site has been slow for me, too--maybe because of volume of traffic? But it took me a long time to realize all of the Thanks I was giving to others were not always going up. So I have resorted to refreshing, which puts me WAY behind in keeping up with the discussions.:banghead: But I still LOVE IT HERE!!!

if you search the thread with your name and nothing comes up it means no one quoted you.

She actually also tilted her head, smiled and said "Say Cheese!" It was the weirdest, creepiest thing I have ever seen. Even the interviewer seems startled.

So creepy and scary!!! Here it is!!!:

Thanks for everyone keeping us updated on the insider view of the trial. :D

Unless you have dealt with a sociopath like JA, it is very hard to accept that someone pretty and feminine can be dead inside.

I had the misfortune to work with one. A long story but a workplace psychologist was engaged to run reconciliation (sociopath was always making formal complaints about coworkers) who said to me "did you see her expression when she was challenged? It is completely blank. This is an individual who does not share ordinary human emotions".

This woman was very scary, very much like JA with a really good front and quite charming when she wanted to be. She was eventually sacked but not before she'd spent 3 years wreaking havoc amongst a previously happy workplace.

She did it because she could...she gained no benefit from her problematic behaviour other than attention and some sort of personal satisfaction.

This woman had also legally changed her name, from something quite unique to "Susan Martin"...a very common, bland name.

She also had a husband who had died very young and to this day I wonder if she had a hand in that too.

She reminds me sooo much of JA. The superficial charm, the blank expressions, the inappropriate giggling, the complete lack of emotion when discussing the nasty things she'd done.

I have never actually dealt with a sociopath like this before, and believe me I've met some crazies over the years.

It is very very hard for ordinary human beings to figure out how they tick, what their motives are. Often it is pure mischief.

I agree. I worked with a couple at two different places. One was the life of the party and everyone loved her. I knew she was evil very early on. The second one fooled even me for a moment. I knew she had problems. She was actually on a work release program and worked as a receptionist in our law firm. She kept insisting that she took the fall for her husband in a worker's comp. scam. I thought she probably did commit the crime but wasn;t evil. I was wrong. She was an incredible liar and was secretly stealing from Walmart during lunch breaks (she was not supposed to leave the building but sneaked out when the bosses would go home early) and she sneakily and subtly created dissension among the staff. But even after i had a run in with her in which i told her she wasn't fooling me, she WAS still fooling me because I had n o clue how crafty she actually was.

These people are good.

I think she would have preferred to use cash for the gas can fill-ups for obvious reasons.

At 4 am she finds herself at a gas station with the mini-mart closed and she's forced to use a card. I bet she remembers that. Kind of an oh sh** mo,ent.

There is another gas place across the street, w/ a burger king inside. That was probably closed.

She remembers the incident and knows damn well Juan knows that gas station was closed.

she was afraid of the credit card/receipt ruse being uncovered. She thought she got away with it.

Bad surprises leave her speechless

I dont think she was necessarily trying to hide the fact that she has extra gas cans because it can be explained even if she were just driving to Ryan's. She borrowed them from Darryl - so she wasn't trying to conceal this.

Now, if she had a third gas can that no one knew about and that she's now trying to deny, that's pretty good premeditation evidence.

To me, the strongest premeditation evidence was her phone being off for 20 hours, starting from the time she left Pasadena; renting a car away from her home town; and heading to Southern California with no particular purpose -- the opposite direction from her stated destination; and of course the gun stolen from her residence 3 days before she started her trip.

ETA also the conspicuous use of credit cards in CA, NV and UT and the complete absence of credit card purchases/receipts en route to or driving away from Mesa.

I may be wrong, but I thought the defense always got the last word. Maybe a lawyer can help us out.
.

Yes, I remember cause someone asked it in the legal thread and minor answered. I love that thread.:rocker:

1. Yes, the experts are paid - that goes for state experts too. No point in pointing it out that defense experts are paid when the same goes for the state's experts.

2. He can't bring up psychological diagnoses per se because he does not have an expert who has diagnosed her (as far as I know). The particular diagnosis is not really important anyway - it's the behaviors themselves that are compelling, and yes he can talk about all those behaviors.

When questioning the defense experts, he can certainly present them with information that might change their opinions -- he can even present "hypotheticals" to the experts in order to get information in the jury's minds.

3. Prosecution gets the last word.

In the Mormon religion, is there an afterlife for someone who commits suicide? Just curious.

I am not an expert nor a Mormon, but was raised in a strong Mormon household (I'm what some refer to as an "ex-mo," meaning "ex-mormon").

My brother committed suicide when I was little and he was a teenager, so this was a discussion that came up a lot in my family. It is my understanding that murder is unforgivable/"unrepentable" because it is impossible to make the situation "whole" again, because the person is dead. Like, there's no way to make restitution.

I had a difficult time as a five-year-old understanding why any God would punish my brother for what I already at that age recognized as some sort of mental health issue, so my mom told me that God (Heavenly Father is how Mormons refer to God) knows all and would know what was in my brother's heart, etc. etc. I don't know if that's true, but I suspect it was just to make me feel better.

In any case, as far as an afterlife, IIRC, the Mormon faith believes everyone gets an afterlife, they are just not the traditional "one heaven or one hell" that other religions go with. IIRC, "outer darkness" would be where murderers and apostates (that's me!) would go, and outer darkness is described (IIRC) as cold, dark, empty, with no interaction with other spirits and all one can hear is the "wailing and gnashing of teeth" of the other suffering souls stuck in outer darkness. While there's a chance of some sort of redemption/growth for people in the three main kingdoms of heaven (Celestial, Telestial, and Terrestial, I think), those in outer darkness are basically outta luck.

I don't know if that's helpful or not. I apologize if I've misrepresented anything. My experience with the tenants of the LDS faith is that much is left to interpretation, so one bishop or church leader may state one thing in their ward while another might interpret the same issue differently. It was all very confusing for me.

Jodi clearly did not understand even some of the basics of the religion. There's no way I believe she thought the law of chastity meant oral and anal was all good. Premarital sexual activity of any kind is not in line with the law of chastity as it was taught to me.

Please feel free to clarify or correct any of the information I've provided.

Oh, and IMO she is as guilty as could be, and will be found as such. I do doubt she'll get the death penalty, if for no other reason than she's a young white woman. LWOP is okay with me, though, as that offers her many years of unhappiness in prison.

Hi Kensie!

It hurts my heart to know that your loved one doesn't support something that you want to do......just wanted you to know that following this and any trial isn't a bad thing to do. It supports the victims and their families. It's too bad that your loved one can't understand that.

The comic relief here sometimes keeps me from thinking about the heart wrenching horror of what happened in that house that day. It gives me chills and makes me want to cry for TA.
A few giggles and OMGs from silliness here certainly gives my head a break, and gives my heavy heart a rest. JMO

Just to clarify

I have NO sympathy for Jodi the murderer. Jodi the psycho needed to be rescued from Jodi the murderer before she got to this point. The 'system' cannot be blamed for not giving mental help to her. IMO, there are multitudes of people in the same category of mental '(un)awareness' who do not murder. They are harmless to others.
Meds don't fix what she has anyway. she does have a chemical imbalance.....or at least one that we know of.

I don't think she can be sued for defamation because the person she is defaming cannot be damaged personally (as he is dead). She can be sued for wrongful death, but, why bother? She has no assets. As for perjury, who cares if a death row inmate perjured herself at trial.

She should definitely be sued for wrongful death. She's making money right now with her "art" that nobody would buy if not for her infamy in killing Travis. It needs to be stopped, in my opinion.

Unable to follow or catch up cuz of work but has anyone figured out why jodi was lying about being in Salt Lake City and why she tried to act like it was so close to Ryan's?tyia

I'm still trying to catch up but I wanted to comment on the Helio phone...

I thought Jodi said that she had recorded other sex tapes? But then I heard her say that it wasn't until she got the Helio from Gus that she was able to record phone conversations? I thought she mentioned something about her old phone did not have the recording feature....:waitasec:

So she just so happens to get a phone from Gus that she can use to record phone conversations. Something just don't seem right....

JMO

I agree with your statements and have the same questions you posed.

Strangely, JA only had possession of that Helio phone for about a month before she says she lost it [right!].

Here are some dates in 2008 re the Helio cell phone:

4/?? (prior to 4/18) - JA moved from Mesa AZ to Yreka CA; Visited Gus in So CA who gave her Helio cell phone
5/10 - JA recorded sex call w/TA on Helio cell phone.
5/18 - TA posted on his blog: Gold Digger/Axe Murderer posts
5/10 + ~1 wk - JA said her helio phone was stolen. Found ~2 years later in ?Auties/Gpa's? car; contained 5/10 sex tape
