IMO this is why people didnt leave the city for katrina. weather people call doomsday for every storm and people get to where they dont believe it any more. so they figger 'bah, i rode out the last one, i'll be fine' and end up stranded or dead

all for a story.

Just got confirmation that my daughter did get out of Jean Lafitte (Jefferson Parrish, South of New Orleans). Thank God! She is so hardheaded and stubborn, 22 years old with an equally stubborn boyfriend. She would not answer my calls or texts yesterday. But I just finally talked to her and they are in Central Mississippi.

I don't ever want to see another picture like the one during Katrina with the deceased lady in the wheelchair with a blanket thrown over her. So sad. There had better be much better response to this hurricane aftermath.

update on bessie: she had a bad night with rain and wind and a transformer blew up near her house. But, she texted another mod. a little ago that she is safe, though I don't think she has power.

Lord I hope those people are ok. This makes me cry. I was traumatized by Hurricane Katrina and I don't live on the coast. Rita was terrible too.
