Released Israeli hostage, 72, 'not aware her husband was killed'

The nephew of a 72-year-old woman taken hostage by Hamas says she was "not aware" her husband had been killed.

Adina Moshe was one of 13 people released on Friday.

Eyal Nouri, her nephew, said: "She's been checked by doctors. She's well, but she was not aware completely of all the events starting 7 October."

He added: "She was not aware of the war.

"She was not aware that her husband was killed.

[...]

Mrs Moshe was in "complete darkness" during her captivity and "had to adjust to the sunlight", Mr Nouri said.

"She was not used to the daylight (and) was disconnected from the outside world."

Hostages may not have known they were being freed - Red Cross

Muhannad Tutunji
BBC News Arabic

We’ve heard more about the shock that hostages felt when they were handed over yesterday by Hamas to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Gaza.

“It was overwhelming for them,” ICRC’s spokeswoman in Jerusalem, Sarah Davies, told BBC Arabic.

She says we don’t know if the hostages had been told about the deal, and that the first they knew about their freedom may have been when they saw the Red Cross cars.

“I did speak to some colleagues who said they saw the relief of hostages,” she said.

“Some of them were in a bit of shock. It took a while for it to sink in what was really happening, and it was just a very emotional situation for them.”

The temporary truce has also given the ICRC more time and space to help civilians inside Gaza.

“Our colleagues have reported that the silence is the first they have heard since 7 October when the conflict really began in earnest,” they told us.

“Explosions are no longer something that you can hear constantly. The sky has cleared of smoke. People have been able to safely to go the beach and wash in the ocean.”

Director of Al-Shifa Hospital is still being detained, Israeli forces confirm

From CNN's Niamh Kennedy

The Israeli military says it is still detaining the director of northern Gaza's Al-Shifa Hospital, Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya.

"We are still talking to him, yes," Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Lt. Col. Richard Hecht said Saturday, in response to a question about Abu Salmiya's detention from CNN's Kaitlan Collins.

Hecht described the doctor's continued detention as a "good idea," and Al-Shifa Hospital as a "bed of terrorism."

Hecht said Israeli officials would "see what (they) learn from talking to" Abu Salmiya, and will make a decision regarding his release in "due course."

Earlier Saturday, the World Health Organization called for the legal and human rights of Abu Salmiya and three other detained health workers to be respected.

Some context: Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of using the hospital for combat and command purposes, which Hamas and hospital officials deny. So far, they have provided limited evidence of such use, with an alleged Hamas underground network having only been viewed by some Israeli reporters.

Israel slams UN’s women’s office for 50-day delay in commenting on Hamas sex crimes

The Foreign Ministry tears into the UN office for women’s issues for taking 50 days to comment on the evidence of sexual violence perpetrated during Hamas’s October 7 massacre only to issue a brief statement today expressing “alarm” on the matter.

“We met with Israeli women’s organizations & heard about the work of the Civil Commission for crimes against women and children,” UN Women tweets. “We remain alarmed by gender-based violence reports on 7 Oct & call for rigorous investigation, prioritizing the rights, needs and safety of those affected,” the UN office adds.

“For almost 50 days UN Women has been SILENT on the rape, murder and kidnapping of hundreds of Israeli women and girls. Seven weeks later and all they can muster is ‘alarm.’ Disgraceful,” the Foreign Ministry tweets.

What a blessing after seeing Ohad being forced into an embrace with that Hamas guy faking it for the cameras.

His mom’s face when she was being released…she looks completely different than she did in pictures from prior to the attacks.

Hoping for healing to begin now.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the photo of him in what appears to be the helicopter cockpit.
IDF did an amazing job with all the hostages, especially the children.
I am concerned for the two year old, she has a haunting look, and "hangs" on to her daddy for dear life.
(All the photos are in thread, numerous times.)

Released hostage says she heard on the radio while in Gaza that her son was killed

Ruti Munder after her release from Hamas captivity on November 24, 2023. (Israel Defense Forces)

[...]

Footage the Munder family okayed for release to the press shows Ruti Munder, 78, hugging her family and saying that she’s okay but that she knows Roy was killed during the onslaught from listening to the radio, but she wasn’t sure how he was killed.

The footage also shows Keren Munder, Ruti’s daughter, who was also released yesterday, with her 9-year-old son, Ohad, ask about the fate of her father, 78-year-old Avraham Munder. Her family member confirms that Munder is being held in captivity, and Keren is seen replying: “so he wasn’t murdered.”

The footage reveals that not all family members taken hostage were held together in Gaza and did not necessarily know about the fate of each other.

Hamas says they have decided to delay the release of the second group of hostages until Israel allows aid trucks to enter northern Gaza. They must still be hiding in their tunnels because that’s exactly what happened today. There’s no limit to Hamas’ cynicism.

Definitely qualifies as humanitarian. First truck is full of transportable, collapsable hospital beds.

What is Hamas' real issue??

At least 13 Israeli hostages expected to be released in second day exchange

From CNN's Kaitlan Collins, Jeremy Diamond and Abeer Salman

The list of hostages provided to Israel by Hamas for release Saturday has 13 names on it, multiple sources have told CNN.
Israel however, has made clear it is expecting 14 people to be released on the second day of the temporary truce in exchange for 42 Palestinian prisoners.
As the hour of their expected release approaches, there have been discussions over the final list, including whether it will be 13 or 14 people, several of which are expected to be children.
The head of the Palestinian Commission for Detainees and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs Qadura Fares later said 39 Palestinian prisoners are expected to be released on Saturday.
Friday - the first day of the temporary truce - saw the release of 24 hostages, including 13 Israeli women and children in exchange for 39 Palestinian women and children being freed from three Israeli prisons.

Israel has 42 prisoners ready to release and it looks as if they were expecting 14 Hostages to be released.

There is some other reportage (no official approved source yet) that indcates that a child is on the list, but that the mother is not although also a hostage.

The agreement that was negotiated was that although no men and no soldiers would be released, that no children would be released without their mothers if both were hostages.

OR Hamas is pissed because the IDF probably searched those aid truck shipments once they got inside the northern strip before allowing their disbursement so is raising a huff about "delays of aid in the North". IMO.

Time will tell what's really going on.

Report: Hanna Katzir only learned of husband’s death, son’s kidnapping after her release

Hanna Katzir (Courtesy)

Channel 12 reports that Hannah Katzir, 77, learned that her husband Rami was murdered and that her son Elad was abducted into Gaza on October 7 only after she was released from captivity.

The network says that they learned that the released hostages feared for their lives while they were being transferred by Hamas to the Red Cross yesterday in Gaza because as they drove to Khan Younis, onlookers hurled stones and other objects at their van.

Some of the hostages survived on only rice during their last two weeks of captivity after receiving sufficient food for the first month or so, Channel 12 says.

Hamas delays second hostage release until Israel lets aid into northern Gaza

Nov 25 (Reuters) - The armed wing of the Palestinian militant group Hamas said on Saturday that it had decided to delay the second round of hostage releases until Israel is committed to letting aid trucks enter northern Gaza.

“We are committed to returning all of the hostages, Israelis and foreigners alike.”FM @elicoh1 visited the foreign citizens from Thailand and the Philippines who were freed from Hamas captivity. The Foreign Minister emphasized that the foreign citizens will receive dedicated care from Israel and will be entitled to all of their rights from Israel’s National Insurance.FM Cohen: “Israeli citizens and foreign citizens shared the same fate in the face of a cruel enemy on that dark Sabbath. We are working with all of the parties to free all of the citizens from the hands of the Hamas terror organization, which still holds women, children and the elderly, as well as other foreign citizens.”

Hamas official claims it is working to ‘solve the problems’ over hostage release delay

A senior Hamas official says there are ongoing efforts to “solve the problems” that led the Hamas terror group to announce a delay in the release of the hostages.

“There were violations yesterday and today it repeats itself,” Osama Hamdan claims in an interview with the pro-Hezbollah Al-Mayadeen network.

Hamdan is based in Lebanon though and it’s not clear how much clout he holds given that most of the terror group’s decisions since the outbreak of the war are believed made by its leaders in Gaza.

Not content with this numerical advantage, Hamas and its proxies, probably funded by Iran, resort to increasingly sophisticated dirty tricks to press home their advantage. Cyber companies are hired to use bots — automated software programs — to bombard pro-Israeli posts with hundreds of pro-Palestinian messages.
Red bolding mine.
Even with the caveat in this article, it's possible.
Although there are 'talented' hackers from Russia as well ?

Not at all surprised by the fake photos Hamas is uploading; as I'd referred in past posts about the terrorists wanting to create an "illusion of destruction" that may be largely due to their own incompetence.
Very deceptive and difficult to tell the truth.
If the rescuers digging in rubble look pristine themselves, it's likely staged.

How many rockets fired by Hamas have fallen within the range of Gaza ?
Much of the actual damage is confined to areas targeted by the IDF in precise strikes intended to minimize human casualties.

Not to mention the use by Hamas of thermobaric weapons.

Curious if the terrorists have more deadly banned weapons they're preparing to use -- so they can blame the IDF ?
Omo.

Hamas official: Israel blocked aid trucks and flew drones over south Gaza

Rushdi Abu Alouf
BBC News

A senior Hamas official has told the BBC that the delay to the handover of the hostages this evening is due to Israeli violations of the humanitarian truce agreement by preventing agreed-upon aid trucks from entering northern Gaza.

He said that Israel allowed only three trucks out of 100 to reach northern Gaza.

He also said that Israel violated the ceasefire agreement by flying drones over southern Gaza.

Israel has denied it has violated the truce agreement.

Hamas says Israel changed the agreed list of Palestinian prisoners to be released

Rushdi Abu Alouf
BBC News

The Hamas official, speaking to the BBC, also said that Israel made significant changes to the agreed list of Palestinian prisoners to be released.

He also claimed that the Israel Defense Forces killed two Palestinians in Beit Hanoun in Gaza, in an area where Palestinians are allowed to move.

He was talking to the BBC about Hamas's decision to delay the release of Israeli hostages.

Israel has denied violating the truce agreement.

UN says aid had reached north Gaza yesterday

The delay in the release of the hostages appears to be partly over a row about how many aid lorries have entered Gaza as part of the deal - more specifically how many have reached northern Gaza.

UNRWA said on Friday that aid had reached the north of Gaza yesterday for the first time in a month, and the UN said 137 lorries entered Gaza in total yesterday. The Palestinian Red Crescent put the number of lorries crossing Rafah at 196.

Today, Israel's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said the UN was delivering over 50 lorries containing humanitarian aid - food, water, shelter and medical supplies - to the northern Gaza Strip and to shelters that had not yet been evacuated.

Hamas has accused Israel of not following the terms of the ceasefire agreement, and has delayed today's release of hostages because of that.

Hum ...that's like six or seven hours from now. Gives Hamas time to regroup. They have have fresh batch a human shields in NGaza, more headed that way, fuel, food, medicine, ambulances, enough to keep hamas going. Not worried about citizen human life.

(Oopsies…too bad they already tweeted)

The largest convoy of 61 trucks of aid assistance to the #Gaza and the North governorates loaded with food and non-food items, water, primary health care medicines, and emergency medical supplies, from aid that entered through Rafah today as well as from PRCS warehouses in the south. This convoy is considered the biggest one to bring aid to #Gaza and the Northern Governorates since the beginning of the ongoing escalation of 50 days so far.
