''In one chilling video, a young Israeli woman, reported as being a soldier on social media, was seen lying in the back of an Israel Defence Forces (IDF) armoured vehicle commandeered by the terrorists. Then she was dragged by her hair out of the boot. Her clothes were drenched in blood.

As she was bundled into the back seat, cheering terrorists armed with Kalashnikov rifles shouted 'Allahu akbar'. The fate of the unidentified woman is not known.''

Doron's two daughters, Raz, five, and Aviv, three, were also reportedly captured by Hamas gunmen
And some people wonder why Israel is bombing Hamas into oblivion?

I'm not sure of your meaning (infidels?), but some 40 million people died in WWI in the "war to end all wars"...I guess it didn't work out the way they hoped, either.

I was actually just jumping off your post with my thoughts regarding iron dome, etc... my post wasn't directed at you exactly.

And, by infidels, I was using the Al-Qaeda explanation used here:

"Al-Qaeda opposed the United States for several reasons. The United States was regarded as an "infidel" because it was not governed in a manner consistent with the group's extremist interpretation of Islam. Second, the United States was viewed as providing essential support for other "infidel" governments and institutions, particularly the governments of Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the nation of Israel and the United Nations organization, which were regarded as enemies of the group."

Boy have things changed since WW2 (and even since the 9/11 attacks)

U.S. citizens who wish to depart Lebanon should leave now, due to the unpredictable security situation. There are still commercial flights available, but there is reduced capacity. Please check flight options at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport (https://beirutairport.gov.lb). If you need a financial assistance loan from the U.S. government to purchase tickets on a flight to depart Lebanon, or are interested in receiving messages from the U.S. Department of State, please complete this crisis intake form (https://cacms.state.gov/s/crisis-intake). Do not fill out this form if you have already completed it – we have your information, and duplicate requests delay our response. I am surprised anyone would still be there at this point with there being 2 weeks of this ongoing war. I feel anxious being safe in the US.. I can't imagine just hanging out in Lebanon, Israel, Iraq, etc. I suppose many are likely dual citizens or have family that are citizens of these countries that keep them there? I wouldn't think anyone at this point would be traveling as a tourist just to visit these hostile areas. I am sure some are working there also, but again there is not a chance I'd be in any of those countries even without war due to the known terrorism risks. It just feels too risky.. or maybe I'm just getting old and like to keep my life boring and routine.

Rsbm

There is one female soldier that was kidnapped from the base, whose sister I heard speak, that said her sister contacted her while it was all going down on Oct. 7. She said to be strong for parents, and not to mourn too hard. I wonder if this is her, it miiiiight be, jmo but will look for verification. Picture looks familiar. The soldier had a blue octopus stuffed animal on her bed at home that converts from happy octopus to a sad octopus when you flip it inside out, and her sister brought it on the interview, along with a framed photo of her sister. I’ll look for it. So many victims and hostages to keep track of…

Eta: Checking if this is her:

“Do not sink in sorrow.”

Live updates: Israel-Hamas war rages as Gaza hospitals warn of "humanitarian catastrophe" (cnn.com)

Senior Israeli official says there will be “no ceasefire” for Gaza amid hostage talks

A senior Israeli official tells CNN there will be “no ceasefire” in Gaza amid US and Qatari efforts to free more than 200 hostages held there by Hamas.

The official was “not aware” of US calls for a delay to the Gaza ground operation and said both Israel and the US want all the hostages released “as quickly as possible,” they told CNN's Matthew Chance.

But, the official added, “humanitarian efforts cannot be allowed to impact the mission to dismantle Hamas,” they added.

Israel agreed to a US request to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, “although that was not popular in Israel,” the official said.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday that US President Joe Biden's administration was talking to the Israeli government on a "regular basis" about the Gaza situation.

"Both of us want to make sure that the many hostages who’ve been taken come home, and that’s why we’re working on it, as I said, virtually every minute of the day" Blinken told NBC's Meet the Press.

U.S. Embassy in Beirut says U.S. citizens who want to depart Lebanon 'should leave now'

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut issued a security alert today saying that American citizens who "wish to depart Lebanon should leave now, due to the unpredictable security situation."

Israeli forces and Iran-backed Hezbollah militants in Lebanon have clashed repeatedly since Hamas terrorists attacked southern Israel on Oct. 7. The clashes have stoked concerns about a wider conflict in the Middle East.

The State Department on Oct. 17 raised the travel advisory for Lebanon to "Level 4: Do Not Travel."

Well interesting comment there saying the Chinese ships have been there since May.. they are always out there. Do those who publish these "facts" just wish to create drama vs share information. How easy it would be to say several Chinese ships have been in the area since May.. they make it sound like China sent them there to defend Gaza.

The US has sent 2 strike groups and that definitely includes more than 6 ships.. most likely double digits. The air craft carriers travel with many other ships. I believe one was in the area and moved closer one was moved from it's set deployment location, to instead be in the area.

Oct 20 report from WION:

Up to six Chinese warships have been operating in West Asia over the past week, South China Morning Post reported on Thursday (Oct 19), citing reports. The naval presence was reported amid an escalating situation in West Asia due to the Israel-Hamas war.

The Chinese Defence Ministry website said that the 44th Naval Escort Task Force has been involved in routine operations in the area since May.

Last week, it spent several days on a visit to Oman, and it also took part in a joint exercise with the country's navy. Chinese state media reported that the task force left the capital Muscat on Saturday, and was en route to an unspecified destination.

The Travel Alerts by the U.S. State Department for Lebanon have gotten more and more Direct and Worrisome over the last few days, with today’s Alert stating that if you are still for some reason in Lebanon you need to Leave the Country Now; also they are even offering Emergency Loans so that American Nationals can Pay for a Commercial Flight out of the Country.

Gaza City and the Area surrounding the Al-Shifa Medical Center have been getting Hammered tonight with Israeli Artillery and Airstrikes, while there are multiple reports of Dozens of People that are Trapped beneath Rubble across the City.
