Who killed a group of civilians fleeing to the south of Gaza?

Pro-Israel and pro-Palestine voices on social media each blame the opposite side for the killing of a group of civilians fleeing to the south of Gaza, but what does the evidence say?

There are unconfirmed claims on social media that they were carrying white flags, by IDF specifications for those wishing to flee.

Breaking News: Just now, #Hamas snipers have reportedly killed dozens of children and women on the streets, targeting those attempting to travel from north to south #Gaza and those displaying white flags as a sign of peace. Similar acts have previously been attributed to…
— Amjad Taha أمجد طه (@amjadt25) November 3, 2023
Amjad Taha, an Arab journalist, claims that targeting civilians waving white flags was a common tactic for Hezbollah and Palestinian terror groups in Syria, and concludes that is likely that they were targeted by Hamas snipers for attempting to flee.

"Hamas terrorists in Gaza will, as usual, blame #Israel because it is easy and there is media that accepts this propaganda," he said.

US official: Israel okayed ‘trial humanitarian pause’ when Hamas freed 2 hostages on Oct. 20

Israel agreed to a humanitarian pause on October 20 to secure the release of two American hostages from Hamas captivity, a senior Biden administration official reveals.

The administration official explains that negotiators needed to receive assurances from Israel and Hamas that the hostages would be able to travel safely for what was “not a short distance” to reach the border from where they were being held in Gaza.

“There was a time period for that, and it went… like clockwork to get them out,” the official says in reference to what they refer to as a “trial humanitarian pause.”

The senior administration official says a much longer humanitarian pause will be required if a deal is struck to bring about the release of 240 hostages.

A “framework to get the hostages out of Gaza…is very much ongoing,” the official says, without providing further details.

IDF says it has killed 10 Hamas brigade, battalion commanders since beginning of war

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari says the military continues its efforts to kill Hamas field commanders.

“We are pursuing and eliminating the field commanders of Hamas,” Hagari says in a press conference.

He says that since the beginning of the war, the IDF has killed 10 Hamas brigade and battalion commanders — and those with equivalent ranks — in airstrikes.

“They are also the ones who planned the terrible massacre on October 7,” Hagari says.
He says the military remains focused on the Gaza Strip despite tensions in the north amid repeated attacks by Hezbollah.

“The goal is to dismantle Hamas and return the hostages,” he adds.

Israel ‘significantly refined’ battle plans against Hamas after talks with US, says Biden official

[...]

Pressed on whether Washington is having discussions with Israel about the growing numbers of civilian casualties, the senior official insists that the US is “asking hard questions and constantly asking and ensuring there’s clarity about the objectives [they’re] seeking.”

“They have significantly refined what originally was their plan,” the official says in a phone briefing with reporters on condition of anonymity.

The senior official also says that calling for a ceasefire after the October 7 onslaught by Hamas would not be the right policy for the US to take.

A ceasefire “depends on the Israelis feeling secure and ensuring something like this cannot happen again,” the official says.

A “pause,” on the other hand, would allow for safe passage of civilians and for more flow of aid into Gaza.

Senior U.S. Officials have stated that Hamas attempted to use Ambulances provided by the Red Cross and Red Crescent to Escape from Gaza to Egypt earlier this week alongside 76 Palestinians who had been Seriously Wounded and required Higher-Medical Care in Egypt; the Plot was Discovered by the United States and Egypt when they they were provided a List by Palestinian Authorities of Patients who needed to be Transferred out of the Gaza Strip to Egypt, but after Vetting it was realized that over a “Third” of the Names were of known Hamas Terrorists so that List was Rejected and only 76 were Accepted.

Maybe all the bombing of tunnels has disrupted some escape routes for Hamas, that they're resorting to riding in the ambulances. I hope so.
ETA: Glad they were caught.

US Embassy in Cairo has assisted more than 100 US citizens and family members leave Gaza, White House says

The US Embassy in Cairo has assisted more than 100 US citizens and family members to leave the Gaza Strip, according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

She told reporters Friday afternoon that providing up-to-date numbers of Americans seeking to leave the region “is challenging,” but was able to confirm that the US Embassy in Egypt was able to assist “more than 100 US citizens and family members who had departed Gaza,” while acknowledging additional US citizens who have fled but did not seek assistance from the embassy team.

That number is up from Thursday when White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby told reporters that 74 Americans and their families had traversed the Rafah crossing.

White House provides insight to Rafah crossing negotiations

During negotiations on opening the Rafah crossing, Hamas said it would allow foreign nationals to leave Gaza if "a number of" wounded Palestinians could leave as well. But upon vetting the list, officials discovered that about a third of the people listed as wounded Palestinians were Hamas fighters, according to a senior administration official.

Originally, Hamas would not allow anyone to leave Gaza, the official added.

“Until that arrangement was, was worked out — and again, the list of wounded that Hamas handed over originally had about a third of people that were actually Hamas fighters, which was not going to be part of the deal,” the official said. “So that’s what kind of complicated and took a while for it to get worked out.”

The official said that the U.S., Egypt and Israel rejected that Hamas fighters be allowed to pass through the crossing, pointing to countering Hamas’ demand as a reason for the timing of getting foreign nationals and wounded Palestinians out of Gaza.

Wounded Palestinian civilians who were ultimately able to leave Gaza were not Hamas fighters, the official said, adding later that Qatar and Egypt were "critical" in making this happen.

The official also said that there are negotiations on a "larger package" of hostages through the same channels that resulted in the release of the American mother and daughter, appearing to refer to Judith and Natalie Raanan.

IMO
It’s like when ISIS was recruiting all those really young women from the US and elsewhere to be their brides. Those girls were promised all kinds of BS and were desperate to belong to something—anything! The US and other western countries repeatedly issued warnings that anyone who went to Syria and joined ISIS would be added to terrorist lists, have their citizenship revoked, and be banned them from entering the country (& rightly so!). They went anyway, learned the worst of lessons, and will be dealing with the consequences for the rest of their lives.

Biden Administration Officials told CNN tonight that they believe the Israeli Air Campaign over Gaza will begin to Slow over the next week and that we will see an Increase in Tactical-Ground Operations in order to Target and Destroy the Hamas Tunnel Complexes beneath the Northern Gaza Strip.

The footage of the men killed in this strike on the ambs ...

None of them seem to have wounds "pre-existing" that would have necessitated their evacuation south towards Egypt IMO. All of their injuries seem to look like they were a result of the actual strike itself. No bandages, no oxygen masks, wearing running shoes or boots, no hospital gowns etc anywhere on them.

Does someone have an MSM link to footage?

Here are more details on Israel’s deadly strike on an ambulance convoy

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) released a statement late on Friday breaking down the timeline of the attack on a medical convoy in Gaza City that killed at least 15 people.
Here’s the full statement:
“Around 4:05pm local time [14:05 GMT], a convoy of ambulances left Al-Shifa Hospital in a decision that was coordinated with the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza.
The convoy, which was headed towards the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, included five ambulance vehicles: four belonged to the Health Ministry and one belonged to PRCS.
The convoy travelled about four kilometres from the hospital to the al-Rashid coastal road but found it was impassible due to rocks and a large amount of shelling in the area.
The vehicles returned towards the Al-Shifa Hospital; When they were about one kilometre from the facility, the first ambulance at the head of the convoy – which belonged to the Health Ministry – was directly hit.
The other vehicles continued towards the hospital. As soon as the first ambulance reached the gate of Al-Shifa Hospital, the front of the vehicle was hit. This attack killed 15 people and injured dozens.”

I read elsewhere it was two drones.
MOO: It appears that most of the injured/dead were likely pedestrians. There are more videos embedded into Al Jazeera live, but since the video is like 10 hours long, it's a bunch of work to find them. To me, looks more like a car wreck. The ambulance driver was not injured. An ambulance driver and a medic were injured.

Freedom of speech is one thing, but this... well, I hope they are all prosecuted! Well, heck... I guess they weren't arrested?!!

Oakland Police Department Officer Darryl Rodgers said on Friday afternoon, “OPD is monitoring active demonstrations at the Port of Oakland. OPD is collaborating with the United States Coast Guard and the Port of Oakland to ensure the demonstrations remain peaceful. No arrests have been made by at this time.”

'You shouldn't have started the war,' Portugal's president tells Palestinian ambassador

…

"Radicalism creates an ambiance of radicalism, and this time the radicalism started from some Palestinians," President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa told to the Palestinian ambassador. "That's not an excuse for [the] reaction, it was brutal," responded the ambassador.

"I know, I know you blame the Israelis, but this time someone from your side started it," said Rebelo de Sousa "The Palestinian side started it. You can't blame Israel, you shouldn't have started it."

The Israeli military says one of its aircraft struck an ambulance in Gaza that was being used by Hamas to move fighters and weapons. However, the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza says the ambulances were carrying injured people to the southern part of the territory.

The Israel Defence Forces have confirmed they carried out an airstrike on an ambulance outside Gaza's biggest hospital, al-Shifa, in northern Gaza. The IDF said the ambulance was being used by Hamas, adding that 'a number of Hamas terrorist operatives' were killed. The Hamas government said 'several citizens were killed and dozens wounded' when the strike hit a convoy it said was evacuating severely injured patients towards the Rafah crossing. Footage shows bodies lying beside the ambulance with members of the Red Cross at the scene.
