Israel's security cabinet says it will send Gazan workers in its territory back to enclave

Israel’s security cabinet announced Thursday that it would send workers from Gaza who are currently in Israeli territory back to the enclave and also cut funding to the Palestinian Authority that is designated for Gaza.

“Israel is severing all contact with Gaza. There will be no more Palestinian workers from Gaza. Those workers from Gaza who were in Israel on the day of the outbreak of the war will be returned to Gaza,” the government press office said, referring to the Gazan workers who have been stuck in Israel since the October 7 Hamas attack.

The statement did not detail how or when the workers would return to Gaza.

Prior to the Hamas attacks, thousands of Gazans had permits to cross into Israel and work, where they could earn significantly more money than they would in Gaza.

Palestinian-American woman, 81, got cleared to leave Gaza but can't due to medical needs, attorney says

An 81-year-old Palestinian-American woman received clearance to exit the Gaza Strip – but is unable to do so without support for her medical needs, her attorney Ghassan Shamieh told CNN on Thursday.

Her grandson, Said Bsieso, says his grandmother is running out of time.

“She's probably lost like 30 pounds at least," he said at a news conference in San Francisco Thursday. "She's running out of medication and… I don't know if she can handle a trip back here by herself.”

Shamieh said the woman’s son traveled from Gaza to California to escort her for the visit to Gaza in August, but since he is not a US citizen and his US visa is now expired, he is unable to escort her out.

The attorney declined to detail the woman's ailments but said her age, combined with a lack of food, water and medication has challenged her mobility.

He is calling on the US State Department to provide the woman with the medical supervision she needs to exit Gaza safely.

Thank you for this.

The only thought I have (and I know it's a simple yet complicated one ;)) is that the Palestinians haven't managed to get their overall governing "stuff" together since 1993... and it's been a constant struggle within and externally. Also, I am concerned that the efforts of the UN hasn't been exactly what's needed for too many years. Money (millions) flows into the wrong hands and it's all ill-spent or is somehow "bent". To top it all off the governing body wants to brutally murder all the infidels... and their support has been festering and growing. My apologies for not having a brighter mind with better words but this is how it appears to me in my simple brain.
Even more millions flows into Israel.....billions and billions and most of it goes to their military. The US gives more aid to Israel than any country in the world. It has spent more there than Afghanistan, Iraq, South Vietnam and South Korea. We fought wars over in those countries and poured billions into them, yet we spend more on Israel? Of course they have a huge advantage. I don't quite understand this. I feel like it's a US territory or something....

Our bombs are being dropped. Even our guns were given away at an Israeli political rally. Those guns were supposed to be for the IDF, but a politician gave them to civilians

This doesn't excuse Gaza and this Hamas BS, but without all this backing from the US, I think things would be a bit more sleepy over there! (On both sides)

Sadly, when civilians are killed in Gaza by US supplied bombs, the Arab world is saying, "This is from the United States". Then, that gets them more mad at us. This war with Gaza is our war. When civilians are killed with Israeli bombs, it's like us dropping a bomb on civilians in a housing project. (We wouldn't do that)

I read an article yesterday or the day before about the US bracing themselves for Iranian backed cyberattacks, and then I received an email from my mortgage company today telling me they’ve been hit by one. They provided very little information about the nature of the attack and it’s obviously unknown who is responsible at this point, but the timing feels mighty coincidental.

The IDF said that the debriefings of the released/retrieved hostages were helpful, especially the soldier that they rescued two days ago.

The photos/videos/propaganda of Hamas holding the babies was at the kibbutz after murdering their parents. I know one of the babies is safe with family. Haven’t heard about the other.
It's as though Hamas cold-bloodedly conducted experiments in human nature. They killed parents to see how the children would react, they cooked babies to see how parents would react. They killed one child to see how the siblings and parents would interact. They incinerated the kindergarten and the bus driver committed suicide.

What Hamas did is worse than Mengele at Auschwitz. Over a period of several hours, they toyed with people to see how they would react in emotionally tormenting situations. They would select a child from one household to entice people in the next household to reveal where they are hidden, shooting them as they were discovered.

Very true.

Then again, the Palestinians have some extra challenges in establishing an effective government. For example, their "country" shrinks yearly with every new Israeli settlement and with every new official and unofficial "No Go" zone.

"Bullying" by Israel plays a significant part, I'm sure. 'Just like the US... we aren't always the good guys in every situation... taking advantage of others.

I suppose there is a reason the US gives Israel so much financial backing. (Would be much worse if all this money was given to a country that would like to see us all burned alive)

Yes. All true. And laughed while committing these atrocities. Called their parents to brag. They were so proud of their accomplishments and recorded every minute so the entire world can see how utterly savage they are. And yet… Israel still has to defend itself for defending itself.

The Israelis depended on many foreign workers - pressure from employers and the constant need for cheap labor in sectors such as agriculture, construction and care.

The number of foreign and seasonal workers was estimated at over 105,000.

The most important countries of origin are the Philippines, India, Moldova, Sri Lanka (care sector), Thailand (agriculture), China (construction).

Contract workers play an important role in struggling Israeli agriculture.

The aging of the population generates the development of the care sector, which employs the largest number of foreign workers.

It will end now I guess.

The Occupied Territories, which include the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, are subject to the jurisdiction of Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), with the division of responsibilities overlapping in much of the territory
This notion of “occupation” is used by those who refuse to accept that the Jewish people are from Israel, and that Jews have lived there for thousands of years, millennia before Mohammed was born.

Jewish people and their allies call these areas by their original Israeli names, like Judea and Samaria, which have been in effect since Old Testament times.

I know the U.N and W.H.O use those terms, but they have always had an anti-Israel bias.

They habitually blame Israel for all tension in the region, even prior to October 7th.

On one Election Day, maybe about 20 or so years ago, our students had the day off but teachers had to work. We were scheduled for Teacher Workshops to take place at the U.N. I wouldn’t go and I took a vacation day instead.

IMO

@PapillonVert I love U.N. Watch! Thanks for bringing it here.

Hezbollah claims to strike 19 Israeli military targets

Hezbollah said that today it attacked “nineteen Zionist military sites and points with guided missiles, artillery shells, and direct weapons, and they achieved direct hits.”

Hezbollah, the militant group in Lebanon to Israel’s north, made the claim through its military media.

The Israel Defense Forces said that it does not comment on foreign reports.

The IDF said on social media earlier today that there had been a number of launches from Lebanon at Israeli territory, adding, “In response, the IDF is currently striking a series of Hezbollah terrorist targets in Lebanon.”

Very well said.

In the end, I blame HAMAS solely for this current war. But as you imply, I think Israel has a share of responsibility for creating the totality.

I ask for forgiveness of my ignorance before I post my questions, but I really don't know...
1. Can you have dual citizenship and never visit one of the countries which you hold citizenship for?
2. How can someone with dual citizenship exit Gaza if they were forced from their homes and their paperwork was destroyed or lost?

Its not cash “gifts”. Most of the money is in the form of loans that the US gets a return on. As for the bombs, rifles and jets, Israel is the guinea pig for much of US military supplies. Israel, also, supplies the US with innovation in warfare and the high tech sector. IMO.
And you know how I feel about Ben Gvir..Don’t get me started.

I can answer #1. It depends on the country. Some countries (like the US) require that you spend a certain amount if time in the US to retain status.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose country is a leading supporter of Hamas and other fiercely anti-Israel terror groups, rants at Israel in a Hebrew-language tweet.

“The Zionist entity is lying to you,” he writes on the social media platform X. “The Zionist entity is helpless and confused right now, and without American support will be paralyzed within days.”

Guessing that refugees who are accepted in Canada have full citizenship rights?

In contrast, 3rd 4th generation Palestinians very often do not have citizenship rights in any country. So, they tend to retain the descriptor "refugee".
Children born in Canada automatically have Canadian citizenship. Canadian citizens are not "refugees". If Gaza had made better choices in leadership, and trained their army to protect civilians rather than murder civilians, they would have established a government that issued passports.

Instead, their elected government has imprisoned them.

When the tent city turns into blocks of residential towers, it's time to drop the "refugee" pretendian.
