Israeli president: No ‘real offer’ from Hamas to free hostages

Israel has received no substantial offer from Hamas on a deal to free the hostages being held in the Gaza Strip, Israel’s president has told NBC News, rejecting reports that a deal may be close at hand.

“There is no real proposal that is viable from Hamas’ side on this issue,” Isaac Herzog said in an interview in his office in Jerusalem today.

He also denied any rift with the U.S. over humanitarian pauses in the fighting, which could form part of any agreement.

No plans to evacuate Al-Shifa hospital in northern Gaza, surgeon says

Almost 1,000 patients are currently in the emergency department of the Al-Shifa hospital in northern Gaza, its director told an NBC News crew yesterday.

“What to do with this huge number of injured people? How to evacuate these people?” said Dr. Marwan Abu Saada, adding that there “around 450 patients who are on renal dialysis on daily basis.”

Vowing that medical staff would stay at the hospital, where the corridors are overflowing with people and others have camped outside in tents, he said medical staff “will not leave our patients” even if Israeli troops arrived.

The Associated Press says it is “no longer working with Hassan Eslaiah, who had been an occasional freelancer for AP and other international news organizations in Gaza.” Full statement here: https://blog.ap.org/ap-statement-on-gaza-freelancers

CNN says it has severed ties with Eslaiah: “We had no prior knowledge of the October 7th attacks. Hassan Eslaiah, who was a freelance journalist working for us and many other outlets, was not working for the network on October 7th,” a spokesperson tells me. “As of today, we have severed all ties with him.”

Why are there still civilians in northern Gaza? Israel urged them to evacuate for their safety TWENTY-SEVEN DAYS ago. Most have. For a week, it's been securing a humanitarian corridor to the south. It's getting dangerous. Please get out for your safety.

IDF says a number of mortars were fired from Lebanon at northern Israel earlier, setting of sirens in Shtula and Even Menahem. The IDF says it struck the launcher, as well as a second rocket launcher in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah operatives also fired an anti-tank missile and opened fire at an IDF post near Metula. IDF says it is responding with artillery shelling.

I believe someone will feel betrayed enough by Hamas to decide to help the IDF, even if it costs them. jmo
I guess the place with hostages is top secret.
And only the most loyal know it.

But it is only my opinion ;)
