"Scandal in Israel.
Shocking recordings of soldiers have been leaked.
As the Haaretz newspaper writes, there is an increasing number of soldiers who first record and then post videos online showing the military beating and humiliating detained Palestinians.
The command punished soldiers
'involved in certain acts',
stating that
'this was behavior inconsistent with IDF values'.
Since the outbreak of the war, many soldiers began recording themselves beating and humiliating arrested Palestinians and disseminated the videos on social networks.
'This phenomenon existed before the war, but has intensified significantly since the massacre committed by Hamas'
writes the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
Incidents not only in Gaza.
Reports from the West Bank.
Journalists collected 15 videos that had been distributed since October 7.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that at least five of them were filmed after the war began.
The army added that the remaining videos were
'
under review and working to resolve the issue'.
The videos show Palestinians with their hands cuffed and their faces covered, and in some cases
they are photographed naked or partially clothed.
In some videos, soldiers are beating and swearing at Palestinians, in others they are forcing detainees to say various things or behave in a degrading manner.
It is not clear where the videos were shot or who the Palestinians are, but most of them appear to have been shot in the West Bank, not in the combat zones in the Gaza area.
'Some of the registered Palestinians were
released without questioning shortly after their arrest', we read.
They beat me left and right.
One video shot in the Yatta area south of Mount Hebron shows seven prisoners lying on the ground, handcuffed and blindfolded.
One of them, who appears to be injured, was photographed with his pants down.
Muhammad, 55, told Haaretz that soldiers entered his house at night and took him and his son away. -
'Then they laid us on the ground and tied our hands and feet' - he repeated.
-
'They beat us and cursed us.
They hit me with something that seemed to have electricity in it. They hit me left and right on the head, I was bleeding', he added.
The soldiers recorded everything and posted the video online.
Another video shows completely naked Palestinians.
Their eyes are covered and their hands are cuffed.
Israeli soldiers beat them and drag them on the ground.
One of the soldiers kicks a Palestinian in the head.
There is controversy surrounding the video:
Palestinian networks claim it was filmed in the West Bank, but an IDF spokesman denies this.
IDF: the recordings show terrorists
According to Israel, most of the people in the recording
'
are terrorists who took part in the October 7 massacre',
and the recording was made not in the West Bank, but in the Gaza Strip, a few days after the Hamas attack.
There is no doubt that these are illegal actions, as the IDF spokesman said in response: -
'The behavior of the armed forces, which results from the documentation, is serious and inconsistent with the orders of the army'
- emphasized the IDF spokesman.
Soldiers abuse Palestinians
Another video shot near Bethlehem shows a blindfolded and bound Palestinian prisoner.
An Israeli soldier calls him names and beats him, calls him

in Arabic and says he has sex with animals.
Spits on him and kicks him.
The Palestinian screams in pain.
An IDF spokesman confirmed the authenticity of the recording and stated that the person seen in it was a reservist.
The soldier was sentenced to 10 days in prison and dismissed from service.
Haaretz writes that a
'popular genre of videos' are those in which soldiers force Palestinians to 'say sentences aimed at humiliating them'.
Here, too, the IDF spokesman confirmed that such situations do occur and disciplinary punishment is applied to the soldiers.
A video was recorded at the Al-Awja checkpoint in the Jordan Valley, showing a Palestinian detained and handcuffed.
The soldier dances around him.
An IDF spokesman explained:
- 'The content of the recorded video is not consistent with the values of the IDF.
Detention procedures have been improved',
Haaretz newspaper quotes him saying.
The newspaper raises the alarm.
'Increasing arbitrary violence'
Palestinians in east Jerusalem have also complained since the beginning of the war of increasing arbitrary violence against them by Israeli police and soldiers.
As Haaretz writes, a number of testimonies and documents show that
young people from east Jerusalem were severely beaten by police officers and prison guards.
An IDF spokesman stated that 'the documentation of the cases cited in the article shows that the soldiers' attitude towards Palestinian prisoners is not consistent with IDF values'.
The IDF takes matters seriously, and the matters are being investigated and dealt with.
IDF commanders are conducting command talks on this issue with all soldiers in the sector, and some cases are subject to disciplinary action depending on the circumstances.
Additional measures, such as termination of reserve service, are also taken where appropriate."
