I'm glad you posted this. I was feeling guilty for thinking this exact thing! It seemed like every single missing person case on FB, etc. there was a comment "You should contact AWP...". The person could have run away intentionally, on foot, in the desert, 50 years ago...

There is a problem when a group cannot listen to criticism that could be helpful but instead tries to silence all critiques.
We all know how it works, The taller the pedastal the farther they have to fall.

I’m not sure either. The accused or the accuser is pathetic?

depends on the type of trust and who the beneficiaries are. the short answer.

For the victims that is a good thing, because assets in his name can be used to pay settlements.

I would be interested to see a PR Firm's take on the situation. Is it better to stay quiet and hope it blows over quickly, or jump on the defense?

They need to hire a reputation management specialist. If they knew this was coming, they should have already done it.

As founder/ owner Jared could use AWP to fund a legal team. They could also shift ownership to hide funds from paying restitution to victims.
The brave coming forward after so many years may face this team, and also the many who can’t imagine the charges could be true. YT minions can be cruel.

He's already been indicted by a gran jury- that means there was sufficient evidence and he has been charged with the crime already. Indictment = criminal charges.

IMHO

When someone has an LLC, the assets of the company/ business is protected in the event the individual owner is sued. Also, victim stated that she is not seeking money damages, but that could change.

It is sickening because he was not simply accused, he has been indicted on two counts. So this alleged SA isn’t being settled out of court at this point. It appears it is being fought.

IMO as a donor, my donations were not given for any such purpose.

AWP is and always has been a for profit business.

I see it’s been answered but AWP is most definitely a for profit business. I’d go so far as to say they are primarily a media business- meaning making their money from YouTube and ad sales and donations. I have a feeling many were under the false impression the “needed” donations.

I’ll go further and ask - were all people paid or did some “volunteer”? Is there a board? Were financials audited and who was privy to them?

I hope this case brings awareness to AWP supporters and others about always doing their due diligence before being involved with or giving to any business, but especially a “for profit” whose owner has easily searchable fraud violations in the past.
