Regarding Ebay print out, no one cares if he was bidding OR looking.
The issue that is odd is the request to have SIL run to the house to get it.
I know it has been explained and excused by both sides.

I just am trying to point out that the issue of an active bid is moot.
At least to me.... are others disputing it???

Yes, some do think the fact that the bid expired is a red flag.

Why do you think it's odd that he would request this when he had been speaking to MF daily about his relationship issues with MY and he knew she had a house key so could easily pick up the print-out?

If he hadn't spoken to her in months and called her first thing in the morning to go pick up the print-outs, that would be a huge red flag for me but the timing combined with his relatively recent close relationship and daily communication with MF negate any red flags about the call.

Some people were saying since the auction had already expired, he shouldn't have needed to call MF to retrieve the printout, and that's proof it was just a ploy to get her over there to find MY and take care of CY.
If you were looking at auctions for an Xbox One for your husband or a new purse for your wife, would you want your significant other seeing the printout of the potential gift your were planning on getting them?

Edit: even if I wasn't sure about getting the gift for my wife, I wouldn't want her seeing that and thinking that's what I was going to get her because then when I change my mind she'll be disappointed. My wife checks my internet history around Christmas time, her birthday, and anniversary... clever girl.

Alright, I understand now why it keeps being stressed about active bid vs. not bidding. In my head it didn't matter at all, so I was not getting that to others it is a point of contention.
I am going to be honest, at the point I am in the 1st trial and just by reading all of your discussions, to me at this very moment it feels like he set it up that way. Left it on the printer so he would have a reason to call MF to the house.
I have heard all the arguments for both sides of it, but I am going to keep going and see how it plays out in the trial(s).

I don't find the request odd at all.
I find it odd that the request was made and his wife was found dead as a result. KWIM?
Just my impressions at this point.
Those impressions may change :dunno: We shall see!

I will never get that.
I am one of those who WANTS to be surprised, I never once snooped as a kid or adult.
Tell your wife she is just ruining it for herself!

It's ironic that this guy, who is purportedly so worried about his wife finding out about a printout of a possible future gift for a belated anniversary, called his girlfriend first thing in the morning. Working on his marriage and repentant? His actions said otherwise.

Now that I'm thinking about it, was he looking to buy his wife a used handbag as a belated anniversary gift? After giving himself a trip to Florida to visit his lover (aka his wife's "friend") as an anniversary gift? Ah, no sense pondering that any further.

Good post Boodles.

One question for the non-guilty: Where are/were the clothes he was seen in on the hotel video???

Bad morals != murderer. That's the thing, he had no intentions of leaving his wife. He wasn't planning to run away with his married mistress, and she wasn't planning on leaving her husband. He just wanted something on the side. Hate him for it if you will, but that doesn't prove that he murdered anyone.

I wonder why, since some believe MF was involved in this brutal murder, JY gave physical custody of his only child, his precious daughter to her. She wanted visitation rights. JY trusts MF, always has, and he knows she had nothing to do with the murder. He called and called and then got his mommy to call her (twice) to get over to the house. That's in addition to the 28 phone calls he made to his mommy that morning. All this anxiety for a stupid expired ebay printout for an anniversary he already missed and was busy having sex with MY's best friend on his anniverary? What a bad ruse. He needed little CY found. When he couldn't get a hold of MF he got his mommy to help out too. His mommy had never ever called MF before. But she called MF twice to make sure MF got over to the Young's house! It was so urgent. (All in trial testimony, this is).

And yet desperados try and make this case about someone who is innocent, someone who fully cooperated with the investigation, all to back a brutal wife killer. I guess desperate times call for desperado measures.

I thought those were texts not phone calls? And weren't many if them dropped calls?

Missed anniversary present just about says it all IMO.

Madeleine, Is this the day she was found?
Wondering because when I asked I was told one phone call at about 12:10 PM.

TIA!

Phone calls, not texts.

Somewhere between 23 - 28 phone calls from JY to mommy day of MY's murder, starting in the morning, which is also the day MY was later found.

Both JY and then a bit later his mommy called MF to get her over to the house. Testimony is that MF was asleep and she planned to sleep in late as she had gone out night before. IIRC from testimony, she was not scheduled to work until much later, so she had the time to sleep in. They were insistent that she had to get over there to the house. Left voicemail messages on her cell phone. More than 1 call, though I don't remember exactly how many. MF got the messages and didn't even shower -- she went right over to the house (approximately around 1pm or thereabouts). And she found her sister in a pool of blood...and found her little niece hiding under the covers in the master bedroom. According to her testimony she at first thought maybe her sister had a miscarriage and bled out, as she didn't see MY's head or head wounds--she just saw a lot of blood.

{Again, for those who don't realize, this is all in testimony and all the testimony is in video form and contained on the WRAL site.}

Well think about it, if his wife saw a print out of coach purses, she'd definitely know she was getting a coach purse. The surprise is ruined. And it wasn't that urgent if he called about it after noon and left a voice mail.

Sorry but he called MF and even had his mom call MF. And if he was so worried about getting MY a present and wanting the element of surprise, he should have spent his anniversary with her instead of MM.

I understand. I think when someone dies unexpectedly, normal things like this can appear to be odd due to the timing but I really believe it was just a coincidence.

When I first heard about this case, that is basically all the media reported about it - the request for his SIL to pick up a fax I think is how they described it and it seemed very suspicious to me at the time. I never even thought about the case again until the second trial. That's when I began looking into it in more depth.

He called his mom 28 times that day. Yes some where dropped. BUT, PY called MF and left her a voicemail.

I don't see it that way. Calls were dropping due to where he was driving.

I've said it before but he didn't have any knowledge of the red flags and inconsistencies early on regarding MF. He had no choice but to give up custody at that point to avoid being subjected to a deposition.

The anniversary - How was it any of their business what he got MY for an anniversary gift at all? Many married couples never exchange anniversary gifts but they vilified him for missing the anniversary and in fact he had given her a card with Starbuck's gift cards.

This was a good example of how pushy LF and MF were regarding their relationship. (to me)

Again, if you look at the pattern - he spoke to his mother every day. He was driving toward her area and wanted to talk to her about potentially spending the night there. Now if he hadn't spoken to her in months and out of the blue he is desperately trying to reach her, that would look odd. Given the fact that they spoke very often, I don't see a red flag here.

I believe he was looking into this gift more to please her family than anything else. It was important to *them*.

Remember that he spoke to MF a week prior about the idea of a nice purse. He was seeking approval from her and LF.

Actually, she said that she woke up, listened to the message, tried to cut the grass, called her mom, went to Dunkin Donuts and then went to the house. No urgency.

I don't recall her ever saying anything about her belief that it was a miscarriage. She said she thought it was hair dye and she thought it was a practical joke and she asked C. "Did mommy fall?" No mention of pregnancy related complications.

What do you think happened with the dog? Why no bloody paw prints in the house?

A big problem with taking this purse printout as a genuine concern of JY and not a ploy is that he also printed out mapquest directions for his trip that evening and this was collected from his car and the time on that printout was after the purse print out so to me that is your evidence that this was a ploy and he deliberately left that purse printout on the printer.
