Looks like he only played one game at Christopher Newport University, on 9/6;

He's listed as a starter on some of the box scores, but he doesn't have play time in any other games that I found. http://www.cnusports.com/custompages/football/stats/2003/teamstat.htm

His name is listed as "LJ Mathew," which might explain how little he played. Maybe he lied about his name so they wouldn't realize he got kicked out of another school. Sports eligibility is tricky, so his troubles at Liberty might have followed him and he only played one game before they figured him out.

as far as wondering whether or not dates are significant, or were at one time, to JLM, it would be interesting to know if his leaving CNU in mid-October is October 17th...

Reading all these missing women's cases is really bumming me out.

It seems like nothing much is done about it. No wonder serial killers get away with it for years.

Chances are, they could tell. There are markers in autosomal DNA that govern eye color and other eye characteristics, as well as hair color, tendency toward obesity, susceptibility to particular illnesses, etc, and scientists know more about this all the time. Generally, a mtDNA or Y-DNA haplogroup is all that's needed to tell if a person is of African ancestry. Mutations in mtDNA and Y-DNA a long, long time ago created other haplogroups in Europe and Asia that don't exist in Africa.
 
I keep thinking of the lady that called 911 in Texas that lead to his arrest. What she must be feeling now, thinking of him staring at her. Ughhhk

JLM would have been very young then. He is the same age as me though, and I supposed 1999 would have made him 17/18.

oh wow, that one from 2002:

The woman described the man as a black male approximately six feet tall, weighing 200 pounds. "It's very difficult for someone who's suffered a trauma like this to have a complete and accurate recollection of the assailant," says Sgt. Hudson.
