For the first time in all my years of watching trials, I had to get up and walk away for a while yesterday. It was around the time Jodi was discussing Travis' sexual aggression in the first couple of encounters.
I did listen from a distance while I started making dinner, though. It was easier not having to watch it.
I can only assume that today she will kick into high pity-gear. I am so very interested in the time when she was meeting him half-way at the Hughes' home through her killer journey from Yreka.
I really don't care about the sex tape. It's all about fantasy, not reality.
I am secure in the knowledge that the defense will keep her on the stand all day today so that Juan Martinez can't get to her until next Monday.
That's okay with me. It gives Martinez and Flores more time to compare notes, consider adding witnesses to their rebuttal case. I also have more than a sneaking suspicion that Martinez has already got some dynamite witnesses for his rebuttal case to prove that Travis was not threatening Jodi's life in his last, helpless moments.
I can only hope the jury spends the long weekend thinking about Jodi's lying videos and information from the prosecution CIC.
I hope they spend hours pondering Jodi's flat affect and the fact that she speaks in riddles when it comes to her prior relationships. She uses so many euphemisms to cover herself. I have yet to understand "warm and fuzzy," "romantic," etc. She spends more time on useless details than on her personal emotions. I also hope the jury sees, as did we, the pattern of stalking.
BTW, I pretty much collapsed from exhaustion following the end of the trial yesterday. I laid down on the sofa to watch the HLN lineup, but it mainly put me to sleep with my two kittens purring! I did catch one interesting thing. One of the programs had a friend of Travis on. His comment was that, when discussing his relationship with Jodi, Travis taught him a new word: NYMPHOMANIAC!
