minor4th, forgive me if this has already been covered, but what is your take on the Judge allowing Jodi's false statements of "walking in on Travis while he was looking at pornographic images on his computer"?

I think she kind of had to allow it because the defense expert said it's relevant to Jodi's state of mind on June 4.

I think the judge knows it's not true though, and she's aware that the prosecution has good evidence to impeach Jodi's testimony.

I am not sure if I am doing this right, Yep a newbie, but how can you brutally kill someone and then be able to drive. I don't get it.

Why is she wearing glasses?

I know..if I ever had to kill someone in self defense [ which we know JA did not do] I'm sure I'd be so traumatized I'd halve to check into a hospital and collapse. I doubt I could drive anywhere.

Another newbie (from Scotland ) this time. Quick hello to all !! Been following this trial so far and love the fact that its online. Nice to meet you all.:seeya:

Have you actually seen a .25? I haven't, my Dad no longer has his but I was looking at the bullets for it. They are good sized bullets so the gun cannot be so tiny as a toy. jmo

Here's an image of a .25 -- I don't know what kind JA had, but seems to me, it should be similar. (I know nothing about handguns, except that I don't like them...)

One more question. So, if it is ruled excluded, does that mean it is out altogether or can the state somehow use it to challenge the defense expert's conclusions? So glad we have you on here.

The state might be able to use the defense's own SARA evaluation to challenge the defense expert's conclusions. I can't see any way the state could have its own expert present its own SARA assessment of either Jodi or Travis, although I would expect the state's expert to discuss the same issues that a SARA assessment would consider.

To make her look more innocent more....lots of things but innocent more so. Casey Anthony did...Drew Peterson did.....

This is a pencil and paper test for the person being evaluated by a Psychologist who has training in administering tests. The actual questionaire must be purchsed by a licensed professional for administering to clients in their practice.

The professional then scores the test and uses that information (with other objective data) to make a more informed evaluation of the client's propensity toward spousal abuse in the future.

It's actually an assessment that would be administered to a potential domestic violence victim -- to predict the risk of them being a victim of future incidents of violence based on the other partner's risk factors.

oh, so it's for the VICTIM - thank-you. what sorts of things might predispose someone to becoming a victim? besides having been abused as a child?

Lol. Speaking of sees "you while you're sleepin", did that creep you out as much as me that she took pix of DB while he was sleeping??? shivers!

I posted the Santa song because I think when someone is stalked they begin to feel like their stalker is omnipresent. It messes with your mind to be stalked. There's some correlation between how the stalker feels they have the right to be omnipotent and omnipresent. It's creepy.

http://harvardmagazine.com/1997/01/right.stalk.html - BBM

"Her stalker is both omnipresent and invisible. She has no idea who he is."

and

"Kinscherff says. "In relationships, however, you need to notice people who are controlling--psychologically, economically, socially--who are obsessive, and willing to violate boundaries of privacy."

I've been lurking here since the beginning of this trial, but this is my first post. I don't actually watch the trial, just follow your comments -- in other words, you watch so I don't have to, for which I am VERY grateful!!

I have been trying to gauge Jodi's testimony with the idea that the DV expert will make sense of it all. Much of the testimony seems pretty pointless. But is it possible that the DV expert is going to say that given this circumstance, that occurrence, blah, blah, blah, that Jodi PERCEIVED herself as in danger, even if the rest of us can't see it? That while I would not have felt the need to defend myself, Jodi did because of what's happened to her during her life?

They don't in England (apart from the odd salacious Daily Mail article) - I have to keep stalking all of you to keep up with this case. The British criminal justice system would leave us all salivating for the tiniest morsel about a case before there's a conviction, no televised trials, very few attorneys ever making statements, 999 recordings kept under wraps, jailhouse tapes only shown on the Crime & Investigation channel years later and the like...

Honestly it's as though they just don't want to realize there are trial junkies in the world to appease. Little wonder so many of us congregate here for our, ahem, fix. ;)

Oh thank you for that clarification!

From the top of my head (and by no means an exhaustive list):

- Childhood history of abuse or neglect.
- Previous history of abuse.
- Alcohol or drug dependency.
- Reduced cognitive abilities.
- Physical disability.
- Immaturity or youth of victim.
- Reduced socio-economic means.
- Issues with self-esteem or self-worth.

Please take with a grain of salt as many DV victims have none of the above in their personal history and find themselves in an abusive relationship regardless. It really can and does 'happen to anybody'. Just FWIW.

Welcome G&AMom! :welcome: :seeya:

I think that is exactly what their expert will attempt to do. I personally hope none of the jurors buy into it, but I have faith in this prosecutor and believe he will keep the jurors focused on what's important. And that is that she killed this young man in cold blood when he was the most vulnerable.

Why is she wearing glasses?

So she looks like a Sunday school teacher or a librarian. So she looks meek and frail looking. Harmless, always a victim.

It doesn't evaluate the victim, it evaluates the risk factors in the potential abuser.

So, in Jodi's situation, if her expert performed a SARA assessment, it would basically be an assessment to predict the risk that Travis would commit violence against Jodi. So it would look at things like past incidents of abuse committed by Travis against Jodi; whether Travis was suffering from mental health disorders; whether he had made threats of violence against Jodi; whether he was a past victim of abuse or violence; whether he had recently lost his job or suffered relationship problems; whether he used alcohol or drugs; whether he had access to firearms ....things like that.
