Isn't a .25 caliber kind of like a Barbie's gun in today's world?

*Not being rude or anything about you owning one. My hubby has one.

Yes. I sold my .25 and bought a .380 Smith& Wesson.

Although in my 20s coming home from work one night it did save my life. I didnt have to fire it at the three thugs when one was hanging out the window telling me how they were going to stop me and then rape me. But I was able to get off a shot into the passenger side door at the bottom of the door. It was enough that they couldnt get out of there fast enough.

The police located them and they tried to deny they had ever seen me but they could tell it was the same truck since it had a fresh bullet hole in the lower passenger side door.:floorlaugh: Its funny now but it was very scary when it was all happening.

For many years hitmen preferred .22 so they can still kill and have.

I hope nobody takes offence to the shot first or stabbed first debate. I love hearing all ideas.

I would not dispute she may have wanted to do a crazy stabbing at first, once you are upon your victim, she may have had second thoughts on whether that was a good plan as you must be very close to him to stab him and one false move she is down and out and he would have a knee on her back and 911 on the phone.

So, I just think as you plan a crime and then put it into action you may have to do a bait and switch last minute if you re-assess the situation. The fact she brought two deadly weapons with her to his house unannounced is pretty premeditated regardless of which one she ended up using.

And all the other fine details, gas cans, rented car, license upside down, stolen gun at her house same caliber, staged call to elicit phone sex with a man 90% asleep. She has this in her mind weeks before.

Her follow through was just a bit messy. (because in her own words, she knows bows and arrows but not guns)

I should be doing my algebra but of course I am not fully motivated...as I should be. :banghead:
I thought I'd google Nurmi.
I found some interesting articles. I am not a fan of his however these are posted just for general reading...y'all can form your own opinions.

This was a pretty high profile one...only vaguely heard about this one since I live in a different county.

"And now lets go back to the summer of 2001 when you were whacked on the head with a wooden spoon for having only two ice cubes in your tea instead of three. How did it make you feel?"

Bwahahaha!

I have to say this. If it weren't for people like you and other wits on Websleuths, this trial would be an utterly grim slog. Thank you and thanks to all the others who bring much needed levity in spite of such a tragic situation.

Iirc doesn't the investigation report state there was cast off blood splatter from floor to ceiling in the bathroom? I specifically recall it being noted on the blinds as well.

Also eagerly anticipating how she came into possession of the gun while he was in the shower. Hypothetically, he lunged at her for dropping the camera so before he could do anything else to physically harm her, she had a gun ready and fired it at him? Why would a gun even be in the bathroom and most of all, whose gun was it?

She has already attempted at explaining the knife being in the bathroom, which didn't make any sense either.

:waitasec:

MOO

Somebody mentioned upthread that she already set the stage for herself by saying that her backpack was in the bathroom. So I guess she is going to say that it just happened to be right there in her backpack when she needed it to 'defend' herself.

I just listened to the ME's testimony again and the following is my understanding.

He did not say which wound occurred first. He said that would be speculation and not his job. He said that the defensive wounds had to have occurred before the slit throat and gun shot.

No he was very clear that the shot came last. He gave his clear opinion as to why.

I will read them tomorrow since its so late.

Doesnt he say he specializes in those who have been accused of sexual assault and rape.

If so how ironic.

Lots of websites show the trial, with no commercials.

You said it, bob -- and we know which ones they are, don't we Sleuths?!

So long TRU-TV. :seeya:

WTH has come over TRU-TV? Is it economics? New program manager? A bunch of 12-yr olds wanting to watch more junk? (I have nothing at all against 12 y/o's -- I used to be one of them....)

We'll have to agree to disagree. I clearly heard him testify that the shot and the slit throat came after the defensive wounds. But, not the order of those two.

I'm referring to about the 2:51 mark. I'm half asleep, so if I missed it please point me in the right direction. TIA.

For some reason a lot of females murder males in up close and personal ways........from stabbing them to death.......to beating them with a hammer......to using hatchets or axes or some other bludeoning weapon.

Even Black Widows kill their victim while being in close contact with them..slowly watching them die a torturous death and remains calm and pretends to even care about the victim and continues to poison them.

Scary as hell the depths some of these women will go through to kill a male.

I think she means the high velosity of the bullet entering into his brain.

The fact that the bullet was small calibre and was slowed down by the skull itself causing it to pass through and lodge in his left maxillary sinus ( left of nose, below orbit of eye), may have contributed to him being able to defend himself. That of course is based on the theory he was shot first. Had that been his only injury, and he was able to get prompt medical attention, we would not be here...IMO:(

Whatever she says it will be a fabrication to try and gain the most sympathy and leverage in the story. Perhaps her attorneys are changing things around and crafting an even better 'story' for her to tell. There are so many theories floating around that all they have to do is pick one -- people have already done the heavy lifting for them by coming up with scenario after scenario of possibilities. If I were a sleazy defense attorney, I'd look for what B.S. story seems to be generating the most agreement among spectators and speculators and probably use that or at least part of it as a basis for what I suggested to the client.

I guarantee what we won't get is the truth of what happened that day. We'll still be just as much in the dark after she spills her story on the stand as we are today. The whole truth of this crime will never be known because the killer is a pathological liar. And that's just how this case is going to roll. We already know far more than we do in most murder cases because we know for a fact the time of that most severe and nearly instant fatal wound (that neck wound).

Somebody mentioned upthread that she already set the stage for herself by saying that her backpack was in the bathroom. So I guess she is going to say that it just happened to be right there in her backpack when she needed it to 'defend' herself.
I'm going to guess that she is going to lie and state Travis pushed or hit her. She fell on the floor where her purse/backpack was located. She grabbed the gun at that time.

So maybe that is the strap we saw in the pic?

The knife wounds would have been enough, but she needed a gun shot wound to make her "Ninja had a gun to my head" story work.

Who will supply the cameras to film the trials? Will anyone even care anymore except us? :banghead:

I am someone who needs comic relief in tragic situations badly....I don't deal with ugly situations well without some humor somewhere. Not out of disrespect to anyone involved...it's just how I cope with things offline. When you have a true crime interest and you spend a lot of time on these boards and get invested in following a particular thread it can get pretty bleak and depressing and I love being here with ones who seem to feel the same way. It would be hard to follow without all the reactions and replies when the naked pics were shown during the trial or reactions to her testimony or reactions to the "sex" tape or reactions to Nurmi's mistrial attempt......I live for the funny and inappropriate (I know I know....not allowed here!).
