:waitasec: Interesting assumption.

No assumption. It couldn't have been more obvious, or laughable.

FWIW, my husband is a certified firearms instructor & he pointed out that it's very unlikely that an abused and untrained woman would instinctively run for a gun to defend herself, especially a gun she'd only seen once before in someone else's closet. He also wants to know where the extra ammo was, why the gun was not in it's case, why he didn't keep it more accessible if it was for home defense, and why a guy like Travis would buy a .25 - apparently NOT a very manly weapon, lol!

I hope you'll add your notes to those of our other trial attendees. They are invaluable, and I so appreciate the first hand accounting.

Yes there is a whole thread dedicated to it. And "the other katie" will be joining us as soon as tomorrow, I think!

As I said before I'm sure he doesn't give a rats *advertiser censored* about what anyone thinks of the job he is doing.Juan is not there for public approval. He is there for one purpose and thats to get a conviction, his record speaks for itself.

felt like showin' this post a little extra love... :heartbeat: :tyou:

No, it's standard for a court reporter to sign such a document stating it is a true and accurate transcription done to the best of their ability. They also sometimes include something stating they are not related to any party and do not have a vested interest in the outcome of a proceeding. I used to do transcription and always signed such a document.
Ah, okay thanks for the info!

Juan is a seasned proscutor...and I have no doubt that his first day crossiing Jodi, was methodical. He knows what he doing. MOO

I did. I just didn't put them in the thread since it didn't exist then. I was there in the beginning of January for Ryan Burns and the Mesa forensics experts. It was VERY cool and interesting!

I think that Jodi just likes to remind everyone as often as possible how wonderfully desirable and irresistable she is to guys. :floorlaugh:

Blech.

I noticed it so clearly when she was asking FLores to touch her finger...repeatedly. Her tone changed and she got all intimate up in his space.

hello! great post! didn't see your first, so.... :wagon:

Questioning a sociopath is different than questioning a non-sociopath. You have to get under their skin to show their true colors. Basically she has been treated as a hostile witness for her refusal to answer yes or no questions for one. Does anyone have that article on how to cross-examine a sociopath handy to link...since i didn't save it and now i can't find it. :banghead:

I'd really like to read that article. I'll help search for it. If you find it, please post it.

Just for the record, my opinion of Martinez was formed exclusively from his performance in this case and what I've read about him from links posted here and related reading. I have never heard of him before and had no personal opinion about his work until I saw him for the first time when I sat through the first day I attended of this trial. As I said, I don't care what anyone else thinks of him or what anyone else thinks of my opinion of him, so I'm not going to respond to details of your post.

The details of my post have to do with the distinction of how a DA's office incl the one is PHX is run, why someone of JM's experience (27+ yrs) might not be interested in being a DA, how infrequently DA's ever try cases once they win the elected DA position, and the merits of staying in a metro area that has been 'home' for 30+ years, with family, versus move to some elusive "sexy" venue (that offers what, I don't know). If my passion and interest were in putting away killers to the maximum extent allowed by law, I'd want to do just that, spend time in a courtroom (not shuffle administrative paperwork and attend meetings all day) and I'd want to do it in a place where I had emotional ties, family, and the opportunity to try a lot of big cases. That would be the best of all worlds (doing what one loves, in a place they love, and having people in their life that they love). Helping to put an evil killer like Arias away is icing on the cake if that is one's profession of choice. Getting justice for the state and a victim's family...not a bad way to contribute to society.

I wish you could all have heard Beth Karas dissecting it for us Thursday night. She had a handle on exactly what he was doing. And she's usually pretty objective, and a seasoned prosecutor herself. She was 1000% impressed with his strategy.

And as I said before, whatever. lol

If I understand what you are saying... now I get it!

When court was slightly delayed (remember we went from court activity to the seal and back again?), I thought for sure she pulled that.
Even when she got on the stand, I thought she would pretend to hyperventilate or faint or something - instead she foolishly took him on toe to toe.
I'm thinking now would be a more appropriate time for her to pull that knowing what she's up against.
GO JUAN!!

I didn't expect her to be so eager to spar with the prosecutor. It's just bizarre. I get the feeling that she thinks she's outsmarting him, even to the end of the day. I bet she'll be even more bouncy and confident on Monday. Skeeeeeeeevy!!!

Jodi called and told her Dad WHAT? about the incident where she peeped in and saw Travis with that other woman? by Jodi's own admission, they were not 'together' anymore.

Exactly. Right out of the gate with a bogus "double standard" argument. EVERYONE knows it's perfectly fine to insult your own family members lol, but no one else had better do it! My kids call each other names daily. But their friends had better not. And their mom?! No way. I couldn't believe Martinez even argued that AT ALL, much less strenuously. :::sigh:::

I agree with post above and that he was doing it as that is how you need to do a sociopath examination.

He has only crossed examined her for a day. He started out a little stern until she said he made her forget things ( not verbatim) right after that he changed his tone and came off like the pro he is. If you notice he doesn't have 5 other attorneys sitting at the table either, he is doing this alone.
