I cannot for the life of me imagine a twenty something year old woman calling her daddy to cry to him about seeing her love interest kissing another woman. Looks like she never progressed past jr. high mentally. :what: I have noticed other things that have shown that she was very immature in so many ways.

Well, I guess that answered my questioned on whether or not I was the only one who picked up on her emotional immaturity.

A lot of the things that many see here are important, I don't even weigh. I guess being a guy it is hard for me to see how some things are so petty.

There were no flash burns or stippling near the entry wound BECAUSE JA shot him from a distance.
She did NOT put the gun up against TA forehead.
That he had no flash burns around the bullet entry site does NOT speak to the order of wounds at all.

It was the ME who told us there was no stippling. What he said was there was no bruising from the impact of the bullet under the skin which should have been there if he were shot first. There should have been blood underneath the surface of the bullet wound and there wasn't any. That was a determining factor for him that Travis was not shot first. Dr. Horn also said Travis was shot from 2 foot or more away. That is what he testified to in court.

There was a great article we linked upthread yesterday I believe. It was about 'how to cross examine a sociopath.' One of the points made was that sociopaths get locked into an age range, often 10 to 14 yrs old. And they never move past that level of emotional maturity. She is a great example, imo.

Another thing the article said was that you needed to find their personal weakness. I think hers was her family and anyone criticizing her family. So I think that is why he opened with her calling her sis dumb. He wanted to get to her personal weakness and attack her and throw her off balance. JMO

I totally agree with this. She didn't start out super arrogant. I went back and watched again and her attitude really started when Martinez began asking her about the text JA got from Travis saying she was going to turn out like her mother. You can see it in her face - this is where she gets real pi$$ed and starts getting sassy. It starts at about 5:40.

Let me add this, too. I have to hand it to Det. Flores. He sits there day in and day out and the look on his face is priceless. I can only imagine what is going through his mind.

ITA on the lack of maturity - absolutely. But as far as calling Daddy over something like that (in her late 20's no?), the other possibility is that she made it up after 2010 to enhance her facade of victimhood and sense of powerlessness regarding Travis.

May have come up with that after having done some research and talking with LaViolette... who testified that JA said she saw Travis looking at inappropriate images of children on his computer - until the forensics made her turn that around and sticking to the NEW story of printed pictures...

Ugh.

I don't think she called her dad. I think she's building a false portrayal of herself (and by default, a false defense). It seems inconceivable that she could actually think it's working...

Actually, I don't care what she thinks, I care what the jury thinks.

she had a conversation outside her grandparents home the night before she was arrested with some lady in a car, it was assumed it was her mother (this was on surveillance) could she have given the ammo to her mother? and it was her mother that questioned if the gun she had hidden in the rental car had been recovered. after locating the car in san fransisco, the gun was recovered under the hood of the car. it was a 9mm. the bullets were recovered from her purse or bag when she was arrested. if she had taken off in that rental car, she would have been armed with both gun and bullets.

REALLY makes me wonder who was next on her list.

Despite all of Arias's & defense's effort to create the image of an abused damsel, surely a case of arrested development, Martinez consistently addresses her as "ma'm". He reminds her and the jury and the gallery that she's going on thirty-three. I think she cringes. Experienced vamp is as far as she would ever allow, given the choice. But madam or its abbreviation? Never!

Never underestimate the power of an adrenaline-fueled rage-filled woman with a weapon and a man in a vulnerable state with his guard down. I have seen it at work....not fun.

IMO, Travis wasn't scratching back like a lil' bia***. Heck he was probably boxing with the knife and at the same time blocking himself. Even if he wanted to scratch at her, she didn't give him any time for which is evident to the wounds on his fingers.

I've honestly wondered if the manicure was part of the plan. If she had her nails buffed and polished but clipped very short for this very DNA-prevention reason.

I have always thought that Travis stripped his own bed and put his sheets in the washer, then dryer.

The furniture (iIrc) was displaced in such a way that I also assumed that Travis had begun cleaning his house before getting in the shower. The vacuum cleaner or 'floor cleaner' was found in the middle of his living room, I believe, adding to this theory imv.

Travis was a tidy guy, that seems pretty clear. I do not believe JA would do any cleaning chores when Travis (or anyone else) was home, because I think it was merely a vehicle for in-house snooping/surveillance... there would be no benefit for her otherwise.

Setting aside, for a moment, conversation/emotion - mainly because I have several ideas on that but focusing on logistics for this post:

I think they got out of bed for the last time that afternoon, and Travis put the sheets/bedding in the wash and began to clean his house - while JA appeared to be leaving or preparing to leave shortly. Travis then got into the shower (leaving sweaty black t-shirt and shorts on the bathroom floor) after having seen JA to the door (only she came right back - or perhaps never left, making up some excuse) only to, shortly thereafter, find JA (uninvited) snapping pictures of him in the shower, completely unaware (or more likely unconcerned, even self-satisfied) of how rude and invasive such behaviour is.

I think the towels and clothes found in the washer (at least some of them) were bloody, and JA washed them - ruining the colored items with bleach in hopes of removing blood - something a person just doing a normal load of dark/black clothes and rust/rose towels - would not do.

I think she used the towels and clothes (discarded on the bathroom floor by Travis upon getting in the shower) some of which got bloody from the murder, others used by JA to walk/stand on, keeping her feet clean while getting through the hall (and eliminating any shoe/foot prints in the process), from which she would then jump off of to the clean carpet - in the bedroom or closet perhaps after putting on clean (non-bloody) socks to wear from the bedroom to the washing machine. I think she piled the bloody items just beyond the bathroom hall on the carpet that appears smudged.

She scooped up these items in a clean towel (or other item that she took with her) to contain any blood (that was likely absorbed into the cloth and wouldn't drip) and the camera (after deleting the photos) dousing all with bleach. I think the socks and undergarments may have already been put in the washer by Travis, intending to wash them once he had enough for a full load.

I think JA showered in the shower either standing on or straddling Travis. The shower was already bloody, I don't think she'd want to risk leaving evidence in a first floor shower or the master bathtub. I think she may have rinsed the walls of the shower with the cup. ETA: Then again, if the master bathtub was spotless and free of blood... it seems unlikely that no spatter, even a little, would hit the tub, so she may have used it and meticulously cleaned it afterwards, but the shower was there and I think she chose the fastest, shortest way to get done and get out, so while possible I think it's unlikely...

I think the camera was put in the wash intentionally in an attempt to destroy it. If it was 'caught up' in the bed linens, it would have been found in the dryer with the bed linens. And I don't believe the items in the washer were large enough individually for a bulky camera to get caught in a shirt or towel unnoticed. The load wasn't big enough for that either. It likely made a racket clanging around in there. Something one would investigate unless they put it there deliberately.


Just a few theories... What can I say, I love to play with my brain. Feel free to point out any glaring holes in my ideas - I'm sure there are many.

Great theories.....I agree. I always thought Travis had been cleaning and had washed the sheets. Just by looking at the residence in the pics you could tell that he was neat. I also believe that he thought she was gone and went to have a shower and she came back. The pics in the shower look to me like he didn't know they were being taken. JMO

Did anyone else notice that it looks like she is praying at the beginning of Thursday's cross examination? She's not just looking down, because when the clerk says "All rise for the jury" her head stays in the same position - she opens her eyes and stands up. I don't seem to remember seeing her do this any other day of the trial.

It was stated that she thought Mimi was going to be Travis's wife, so if she wasn't completely sure if he had been with Mimi I think she would have made sure to have sex with him just to have the "glory" of being the last one he was with. IMO the sex was her trophy to use to gloat after the fact.

Just listened to the testimony about Matt and Darryl on the murder trip. Here's the sequence of events:

1. She spent the night with Matt on June 2

2. Went to Darryl's morning of June 3 for breakfast - Matt did not go with her

3. After Darryl's she went to Salinas (20-30 min away) to get her nails done, but she said it took a long time - she was in Salinas for "a few hours". She testified that she had to go to Salinas anyway to get on the highway. She says the place could have also done hair, but she doesn't remember. Doesn't remember the name. I'm pretty sure Juan knows exactly what place it is.

4. After a few hours in Salina, she went back to Darryl's house to return something - she says she does not remember this, but indicates that Darryl remembers it. Didn't say what she returned to Darryl

Only just caught up on reading the last 2 threads from the weekend, brought this over as just wanted to say thank you to the above poster for this info. I was getting a bit confused who and when she went to see them, and this has put me straight.
