no no ~ I'm sorry. I did not mean that the ME was wrong. I was trying to reply that Jodi is a liar, and nothing that she testifies to is the truth. That's all I meant.

It's ok I gotcha...I know that it's hard to get feelings conveyed online...and ME's do make mistakes at times.

I have one question since the start of this trial and it is for any gun expert
on this site. I am left handed and have tried to figure how she was able to
to make that shot, Two things I know are(1) she had to either be above him
or (2) he was laying on the floor. Also she had to be to the right of his head
because facing him would be at the wrong angle. Maybe she did use the bench to stand on to fire the gun. Any suggestions would help solve this. Or maybe she used her right hand. Still puzzlings. As she would have had to be
behind him. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm guessing that Jodi didn't take a basic physics class in school before she dropped out. I'm hoping Juan will walk her though with a demonstration. Let the jury see it couldn't of happened like Jodi testified to. Can the judge make her get up and do it?

I'm still firmly convinced. Takes more than the testimony of a liar to change my mind. :floorlaugh:

I still believe in gunshot first. I have been unsure a few times. But I keep coming back to Travis being a kickboxing wrestler in very good shape. I don't think she could hold him off with just a knife for very long, without being injured herself. He would have fought hard against a knife and probably gotten it away from her. He would have been stabbed but she would have been injured too. Unless he was somewhat incapacitated immediately. JMO

I have no doubt that JM is going to tie it all together for the jury. And I have a lot of faith in this jury. From what we have heard, they are not buying what JA is trying to sell them. So they know exactly why JM is jumping around and trying to throw her off. After those 8 tedious days of her boring testimony, I am sure they are happy that he is so kinetic and exciting in comparison.

She may not have looked rattled, but she was at times. She made a few mistakes. And JM has those in his back pocket for later.

But most important to the jury is the demeanor she proudly arrogantly showed. Her sarcasm and her controlling behavior demolishes her previous defense that she was just a meek, helpless victim who couldn’t stand up for herself.

There is no good/reasonable explanation. This magazine stuff is very damaging. He just barely got into it.

Also, she was rattled when she was being questioned about the writing. She BLEW IT when she said they were page numbers. How did she know that? D’OH. :slaphead:

She did carefully avoid pegging the time when she started work, but the text he showed says she started at 10:30. And her lack of memory, concerning the time of such a hugely upsetting event is laughable. Sure, she was stubborn and avoided answering, but that will not make her believable.

And her ridiculous assertion, that he needed HER to come by to move boxes of decorations is silly. He had two male roommates. And why would they discuss it weeks earlier? That was so bogus on her part and he made her look like a liar, once again.

And those texts show clearly that she did not go over that afternoon and cacth him doing that act. There was not enough time for all of that to happen and for her to go home, vomit, and cry and cry for hours. And if she DID, then why would she text him about switching cars?

Sure, that is HER implication. But will the jury agree. He made her read from her journal, where she discusses lots of dirty little secrets about their kinky sexual escapades. And it is not just that she never mentioned it. It was that she said NOTHING NOTEWORTHY HAS HAPPENED. I don’t think she can wiggle out of that one.

I disagree. She did not have to tell a doctor that he bf kicked her. There are zillions of excuses for a broken finger. That excuse will never fly, imo.

Yes, she did. And JM will be bringing those slip ups back to us each day. And the sister things was strategic, and was not actually about the sister. I already discussed it in other posts, but it has to do with a sneak attack that some attorneys do. Start with something unimportant and unexpected, get your hostile witness upset and angry, then jump into the real issues. And that is what he did.

His job is like that of a deep sea fisherman with a swordfish on the line. You cannot just reel it in. You hook the fish, but then you have to allow it to dive, jump in the air, veer side to side, and all one can do is tire them out. That is exactly what JM did, imo. He hung on and watched her do her verbal gymnastics and her deflecting and her obfuscating and he just kept at her.

Ha. EXACTLY.

And that was her mistake. She SHOULD have cried and shaken like a Chihuahua. Then she might have looked like she told the truth in the earlier testimony. But she puffed out her chest and her chin, and challenged JM to a duel. She might mistakenly believe she is winning. But she lost already just for showing her true aggressive, competitive nature. JMO

Thanks for that.....I wish I could write that well.......sigh...You describe it just as I see It and moo the way it is.

Did you see the interview with TA's sister and brother? I saw the thread on Facebook.

wait a minute. jeez, about the time i think i know things about this case, i keep finding out i don't!!

she says she was at his house on 1/21 (pedophile day) because he needed her to move boxes? is that right?

I'm still firmly convinced. Takes more than the testimony of a liar to change my mind. :floorlaugh:

It wasn't so much Jodi's testimony, but her version of Travis being shot in the head and then continuing to wrestle and scream at her really got me to thinking about the ME's conclusion that he would have been incapacitated, at least temporarily, after being shot in the head.

If we didn't have such a narrow time line, I might think he was shot, lost consciousness and then regained consciousness while Jodi was cleaning up or something - at which point she grabbed her backup knife and finished the job. But we have only a minute to work with ....

I wouldn't say I'm convinced that the gunshot was last, but I'm not convinced it was first like I was previously.

Travis' room was not the only bathroom in the house for her to shower. All the commotion going on, gunshot and all, it was obvious there were no other people in the house. She could have used any of the showers.

Only if she had the ability to float IMO

What cinched it for me was irregardless of what the bullet hit in his brain
is the simple fact that the guy had a bullet lodged in his left sins cavity/cheek and he
didn't have significant swelling, bruising or even the hint of a black eye...

That tells me that his heart was not pumping when he was shot.
I think she shot him to silence the gurgling he was making after death.
I bet the gun shot was louder than she expected!

I hope she hears his gasps and gurgles every night and I hope it haunts her .

IT DOESN'T .... she is void of empathy.

EXCELLENT post and points, katydid23!

Thank you! :)

maybe he could reenact it with other people acting out the roles.

remember susan wright? kelly siegler brought the dang bed in the courtroom, tied up an assistant and straddled him in front of the jury.

I'm not sure but think that Juan showed she could not have been there that day at all.

I think he was shot last too... I think she may have an intention of killing herself and may have actually placed the gun up to her head and couldnt do it. (Thus her statement with Det Flores "I chickened out like a little b**ch) It made her angry that she couldnt follow through and pointed the gun at TA and pulled the trigger.

I still believe that she stopped in the desert for a few 'practice shots' with the gun before arriving at TA's house. MOO

Jodi would never seriously consider killing herself IMO

I would like to see the demonstration where Travis so called pushed her and she "just fell to her knees". lol I would like to know where the kinetic energy went? I guess it went backwards onto Travis or through the roof or something because it sure didn't go onto Jodi! (sarcasm)

About Juan's cross examination seeming disjointed -- we need to keep in mind that much of what Juan is doing is laying some foundation for his own rebuttal witnesses. There is no way for him to really make every point he needs to make through only Jodi's testimony, so he's just getting what he can from her in order to discredit it in his rebuttal case.

Where did you learn he was a kickboxing wrester? Link?

I hate to get into this again as it doesn't really matter, but my theory is that she suckered Travis with a knife plunge to his chest when he had the towel over his face drying his hair etc etc...

It still astounds me that people can't get over the fact that a woman can take down a man, especially when its a surprise attack with a knife and he is naked, wet, cornered and unarmed. The murderess had taken many years of martial arts training and was in peak physical shape according to reports.

Hello Websleuths!

I've been reading a while but this is my first time posting.

I do feel that Juan Martinez did an amazing job on cross examination for the most part, however, I felt like there were a couple of points he could have made regarding some inconsistences between her testimony about the "broken finger incident" and the actual evidence we see in the text messages. (forgive me if this has already been pointed out on here...I haven't read every single page of comments). IIRC, JA states that the fight leading to the broken finger started over Travis getting angry because she wouldn't lend him $200 (he called her "selfish", I believe she said). However the text messages clearly reveal and Jodi herself admitted that SHE borrowed money from Travis that day (the text message stating "did you make the deposit?) I know Juan got her to admit that but I'm not sure that the jury will remember exactly what she said regarding how the fight got started. I wish he would have pointed out this inconsistency to Jodi so that her lie was evident to the jury. I wish he would have asked her point blank about her testimony regarding the money lending. Maybe he will go back to that at another point, but I felt like it was a wasted opportunity. Also, in regards to the car...Jodi keeps insisting that Travis was the one who wanted to exchange cars and yet he writes something to the effect of "I got a ride so you could pick up the car and now you fell asleep. Guess you didn't need it that badly." Not verbatim...but that was the gist of his texts to her. So how can she say that he was the one that was asking to exchange the cars? Makes no sense. And since it was obvious that SHE was the one who wanted to exchange the car...why did she not do it earlier at the house (the first time she left, when she forgot the angel). I surmise it's because she wasn't even there. Secondly, if she really had, in fact, seen what she claims to have seen Travis doing, why would she have been asking Travis to exchange cars? She said she wanted to stay away from him after that...even going to the Temple (or whatever) to avoid seeing him. These are inconsistencies that are blaringly obvious...that she can't wiggle out of. Why would Juan not point these out? I realize I'm "armchair quarterbacking" here and I'm not a lawyer...but I found myself really disappointed by these missed opportunities. I guess there is still time for him to address these things...but why not do it then instead of harping on things like what the exact time was that she got off of work and such. And another thing...if Travis had a landline, why not get those records in order to refute her testimony about Travis calling her over and over after the incident. She weaseled her way out of cell phone call stuff by claiming he must have called her from his landline. I can't believe they couldn't get a hold of his landline records from that day...unless the phone company doesn't hold records for very long (which would surprise me). I'm sure Juan is going to kick major *advertiser censored*...but I worry that the jury is not getting these inconsistencies. After the Casey Anthony verdict, I'm extremely worried about the intellectual and comprehensive abilities of jurors. I do feel that if this evil woman walks like CA did (or even gets 2nd degree murder), my faith in our justice will be completely destroyed. I don't know how any rational person can look at the facts of this case and not find her guilty of first degree murder.
