I do understand what you mean Steph.
The honest truth even though we all mourn deeply here when an innocent child is murdered no justice is not equal. Most of us are mothers ourselves and it affects us profoundly. But if we have been here as a member for a long time then we know little children do not seem to get equal justice if they are killed by one of their parents... especially if the murderer is their bio mom. I have continously voiced my opinion about how unfair the justice system is when it come to giving justice to the innocent who cannot defend themselves. Moms can do the most horrendous abuses/torture/neglect and even murder their own children and sometime they will even get probation or their sentence is a short stint of a few years. We are beginning to see some cases where the mother is sentenced as harshly when fathers kill their own but it is still very unequal based on the gender of the parent. That is the ones that are convicted and then we have the awful memories of how Caylee was robbed of the justice she so deserved.
However imo ALL life is precious. I dont rate one over the other. If Caylee had been a grown young woman murdered by her mother I would want the same justice for her.
It makes Travis's life no less worthy because he happened to be a 30 year old young man. No one should have to endure the torturous ending he had to suffer. I have been reading and researching crimes for over 3 decades and this one in particular has tugged at my heart strings and brought many tears and prayers for his family. It has affected me as profoundly as Caylee and Shasta and Dylan Greone cases have.
I guess because we saw Travis in photos minutes before he died. We have seen the haunting look in his eyes as he looks into the eyes which had to be pitch black with evil staring back into his eyes.
As a domestic violence survivor I feel a closeness to Travis. I could have easily been a murder statistic like he is. I feel I understand him and what he had to go through while trying to appease a psychopath.
Travis has touched my heart and I will never forget this case nor Travis and his family who have remained so strong in the worst of times.
Justice will come but Travis is forever gone and imo I believe if his psycho had never crossed his path he would have gone on to do more great things in his life. Everyone said that Travis was so loving and would give the shirt off of his back in order to help someone. So many have stepped forward to say that Travis Alexander made a postive impact on their lives. I wish he still had a chance to live and be happy but his life was cut short by a green eyed monster of darkness.
IMO
