Yes. I don't even think he needs to say state it in closing, the jury can hear and see it for themselves right there! I do believe they notice when it happens.

That being said, even I can understand what JM is asking. I am just astonished by her claims of not understanding the question while obfuscating. Is she trying now to claim diminished capacity???

The judge will only rule on something if one of the attorneys makes an objection. Every time Jodi fails or refuses to answer one of Juan's questions, he could object to the answer being non- responsive and ask for an instruction to Jodi to answer his question. He's not making those objections, presumably for strategic purposes, so the judge has nothing to rule on.

Perhaps he's saving this for when he asks pointed questions about the murder itself. Then he can get the judge to back him up and force her to answer without the malarky.

I can't believe my ears but Jean C. on HLN just stated that Juan had shown that Jodi was a stalker and had been since she was 17 yrs old.

But never ONCE used the word stalker. Very strategic. There would be objections flying all over the place. He led all of US to see the stalker in her (that means that it is also going through the jury's mind). He is clever, and subtle.

I wish I had your fund of knowledge about these psych issues. I just looked up the definition of gas lighting and the article gave examples. Who is gas lighting? From the definition I read it seems like both JM and JA were both gas lighting. I realize it has to do mainly with abuse. Is jm trying to use JA's gas lighting back at her? TIA

I wouldn't wish how I came about my knowledge on anyone, Zuri. Coming out of a relationship with a psychopath after many years you literally believe you might be the 'crazy' one.

Jodi's gaslighting. She's reinventing the wheel, so to speak, and trying to convince the jury it's square, not round.

The picture they used of her hand was a prime example. The jurors see what's in that photo but Jodi wants them to doubt what they're actually seeing with their very own eyes.

Juan's deflecting - which he should be doing - rather than absorbing. Everything she's dishing out he's handing it back to her to be responsible for. Something she can't even pretend to know how to do.

I do have a question.....many times in this trial i have seen TA sister roll her eyes and make gestures...i watched CA case and the judge would not let any of that happen in a death penalty case......could the defense be seeing this and waiting to call a mistrial or an appeal in the outcome of this case. Just wondering why the judge isn't seeing this....they even mentioned it on hln at one time..how she was rolling her eyes.

I think her eye rolling is lost on pretty much everyone except those of us who see her with a camera up in her face. They aren't permitted to react at all in any other way. Faces and eyeballs do move and react. She is directly facing the woman who sliced her brother's throat open and she's listening to lies about him being a pedophile. I don't think the judge or jury notices her eyes shifting. More likely that involved parties would see the Arias family chuckling and whispering daily.

She went out of her way, she says, to get pamphlets in order to help TA with "his problem" yet she could not find one that gives guidelines on the religion she is involved in> Who gets baptized into a religion in which they know almost nothing about? Does the Mormon church question you about such things in order to make sure you are ready to be baptized?
This is proof she didn't care one iota about God, religion or anything that comes with it except Travis. She wanted him and had to have the religion in order to have him and then later she writes about all the nice Mormon men that are available to her.

She wins if the jury tunes out. If they stop listening, they don't hear all the subtle pearls that JM is attempting to get out there. She wins if the focus becomes her and not Travis and if the jury starts to sympathize with her.

Thats all I'm saying.

As maddening as all this sparring is and as much as it gets to us and likely the jury, I still feel the jury made up its mind already and they will convict her of first degree, premeditated murder, even If JM keeps her on the stand for days and even if defense questions her again for days. Jodi loses or has already lost. She hasn't proven self defense. She has proven she is a psycho and hard hearted and arrogant. This was not lost on the jury. Remember the flowers she sent to Grandma? Who would do that?!!! Remember the overkill of Travis? Who would do that?!! A psycho who planned every detail.

Considering that the defense and defendant smiles and laughs in court I think the least we can do is allow Travis' sisters a few non-verbal facial expressions now and then. They are victims.

Also Judge Perry may have admonished Jeff Ashton but he allowed the defense to smirk and laugh.

Howdy Sleuthers!

Another newbie jumping in. I have been reading here for company and therapy during this mindnumbing testimony. I also have post traumatic stress from FCA trial. As a lawyer - I just cannot watch another miscarriage of justice. I am sooooo apalled at the conduct of the defense team and of the defendant. I don't even know where to begin. I wanted to comment on the talking heads who are saying Jaun is losing the jury with all this jumping around and only making small points about lies. What he just did this morning was to prove that she is confrontational despite her claim of brain scramble (and I am keeping a list of all the "buzz" words she's rehersed/memorized like "wrath" "mortal terror", blah blah blah). She's not coming across as confused at all IMO, but completely combative. Who argues over the words "immdeiately" and "show"? Only someone who is evasive. My favorite Jaun words so far are territorial and peeping!
