earlier in the trial (like right after the state rested) Nurmi said in open court that, for scheduling purposes, his case in chief would wrap up around 8 February

we are currently (and obviously) well past 8 February and Juan has not even finished his cross.

Nurmi will then get up for re-direct which, honestly, could take days.

Then Nurmi also has all the rest of his witnesses to call.

Based on the date approximation he gave to the judge I am just guessing that he did not plan on Arias getting up on the stand. I think we well knows what he is dealing with and did not want her up there giving version 8.0


All the above being said, if Arias is trying to go for the longest trial in US history she would not succeed as the McMartin preschool trial was the longest and it lasted 3 years

Hello everyone,

I've been an observer for a while, and recently decided to officially join. I just want to say you guys are all great, and I love reading what you have to say. Anyhow, I am currently a student, and my practicum work is with the domestic violence victim services unit in my city. I am by no means an expert on domestic violence but, I am often exposed to survivors, as well as the offenders. Initially, when I heard of this trial I felt bad for Jodi, I believed her to be a victim of abuse. One of the many things that changed my mind is the way she constantly says that she did things for Travis' EGO, to make him feel better as opposed to her doing things out of fear and in order to avoid a confrontation which would lead to abuse. I do believe her abuse theory to be a fabrication, very strongly because of this. Does anyone else pick up on this? What are your thoughts? Do any of you believe she was abused?

I keep thinking JA is describing the killing of TA in her Ninja story with variations . . . I think she did try to shoot him first and the gun jammed . . . . she then ran and got the knife and eventually was able to shoot him again after all the stabbing/slashing. . . . he was still bleeding from the stabbing/slashing - I think that is when she described him being "lethargic" and she was dragging him (helping him) down the hall toward the bathroom .. . .

I think she describes herself in 2's . .. we were driving. . . . two ninjas . . . . the angel and the devil in her . . . her split personality . . . .she is just too good and too smart to be just one person. IMO

When I first heard the "sex tape" I was taken aback by TA's participation. The more I hear her and her lies and the way she turns things upside down and backwards, the more I'm convinced that TA really was naive, probably had not had a lot of "sexual encounters" and was most probably a virgin before he met her. His participation in the sexual exchange sounds like a teen-aged boy trying to impress his 'gal. No doubt, he liked the sex and most likely, he couldn't believe this "new world" of pleasure but if I had to say which one was "abused", I am now inclined to say that it was TA.

I agree with you 100 percent. The way Travis sounds, the way he mumbles and kind of giggles, he sounds shy and embarassed. More like an adolescent teen, imo.

totally agree, j.a. was no abused, scared, self-defending victim... in fact, i think some of us think that she was the abuser, and Travis was the victim.. blackmail, emotional abuse, sleep deprivation.. she seemed to use all of those things, as well as a steady supply of sex, to control him.

Rewatching the last while of today's testimony. I :floorlaugh: when Juan was questioning Jodi about the rope cutting, "This wasn't a case where he was going to hog tie you was it?". I love Juan! Atta boy, I think he is the main reason why I'm watching this case.

I don't get why someone would measure a rope that way; from the bedroom to the bathroom. Wouldn't one just lie on the bed and the other person measure that way? I'm speaking from no experience btw, :what: just using my common sense which Jodi seems to be lacking. I now understand the whole rope thing; she's trying to explain where the fibers came from found in the bathroom and on the stairs. Excuse = rope. If no rope, where did those pieces come from? I saw the day of trial where Juan suggested the throw pillow on the over sized chair in TA's bedroom.

The fibers are only important for Arias's claim of self-defense. They give her an excuse to say there was a rope in the room and it needed to be cut. Therefore (according to her), Travis brought in a knife to cut that rope, which meant the knife was conveniently nearby when she needed to protect herself.

In other words, the fibers are a total smokescreen. They're irrelevant. There was no rope, no reason for a knife to be in the room, and thus someone had to bring it in. Jodi did that so she could kill him.

Hi LP - I'm not watching Dr Drew tonight either. So far I have not looked at even one autopsy or nudie photo,,,,,,and I don't want to start now.

I am familiar with the grinning knife-wielding guest. Ugh. I will mention this to DD the next time I write him.

I haven't looked at any of the photos either. I just don't want to see some of them, and others I don't think I would be able to decipher (based on my failed experience with photos in other cases)

Has anybody seen a list of all photos with time and description? I think I could handle reading, but not viewing. Thanks if you know.

She just ended up with the remote? . . . that is pretty random . . . why would she take possession of the remote and during what time period? While eating breakfast? . . . .

I think the remote was inside the car and she found it when she started to drive away - or maybe got a call from DB asking where it was? Wasn't her phone still one while she was in that area? IIRC - phone didn't get turned off until heading to Mesa instead of Utah - but I could be wrong

Once again, when questioned by JM about returning the remote Jodi said something about "he" left in in the car and it was not clarified further. There were so many "we's and he's" today. It must be coming out in rebuttal.

YES, unfortunately it can ;( especially if the aggressor goes batchit crazy with a knife and the victim cannot fight back..
The area of this bathroom is not as large as it seems as well using the Experts 'take on the event' and if you time it out given the blood evidence it certainly could have been committed in those few minutes.. the attempted clean up definitely took longer..
Also, the gun shot sound wouldn't have been noticed with that small caliber gun inside a home and JA knew no one was home to hear it.. DT and JA using this to discredit the ME findings against Det Flores commenting his opinion as Most people would believe that shooting Travis first would somewhat incapacitate him for JA to take control..
If anyone can explain another way this went down to make it believable, I am all ears urr eyes!
