Haha agreed, it would have been handy that night for sure.

Idk what's different about my home or why it sounds majorly different to you. Was there a separate entrance and were the other br's on a different floor? I have no idea. But, if not, it seems very similar to my home which is a two-story with a split floor plan with the master suite on one side of a loft. AZ homebuilders were not terribly creative in that price range.

My comment about the defense was exactly to your point. She shouldn't have confessed and pled SD. She should have pointed a finger at the roommate(s) or at least claimed heat of passion if she wanted to walk. Self defense won't get her there, imo.

It is not a fact that the roomies didn't notice anything. It's their statement -- nothing more. No one can know what they smelled or thought unless they told someone. Which they apparently didn't. And even then, it would be hearsay, most likely.

So, are you saying that they did notice something (ie smell) but made a statement that they did not notice anything? Okayyyy then.

And, by the way, I live in a 4,600 sf house and I can't hear a sound from the other end of the house. I've even had a family with children visiting and staying in that section and never heard a sound. Perhaps this house is made more sound-proof than yours. Or, perhaps you have better hearing than I do. Whatever the case, there really is no argument here as the roommates didn't smell anything or notice anything out of the ordinary. To me, their statements to this are factual as to how they experienced it.

:what: Blown margins....... must get to the next page

I fixed it on that page, but the 2 people who replied to my post need to edit theirs as well.

I live in a "HUGE" home is AZ with a split floor plan. It's not that HUGE. I don't know that the roommates were on separate floors. Just that they were on the other side of the loft, just as my dd is. I hear every single thing she does. If not perfectly, enough to know that she's present. If she left a dead body, I[m pretty sure I'd smell it coming up the stairs. At which point I'm about 5 ft away from the br door even though I've got another 20-30 feet to go to my br and another 600-800 ft once I get there. So his roomies would have been about 30-35 feet from his br door. I'm assuming the mbr was over the garage, which would help explain why the smell wasn't noticeable to the roommates. If the room was over the kitchen, for example, they would have noticed. My point was that, if I were defense counsel, I might have pointed the finger at the roommates b/c their story is only marginally plausible. All the defense would have to do is bring the scent of a 5-day dead animal into the courtroom. It's nauseating!
F.Y.I., I have family in Arizona, and I've been in Arizona in 120 degree heat! It's entirely possible they had the AC running 24/7.

I live in a 32000 sq foot home...and I can smell bacon cooking from the roof!

Lol just kidding;)

It's okay miss.krissy...photos are EVIL when it comes to forums. More times than not they are so big that they blow the margins. We've all done it. :)

Why wouldn't they? I can't image not having it running 24/7. Im with ya there! AZ heat is as close to hell as I ever want to get.

Also, just for the record, the "foot" supposedly sticking out at the bottom of the photo of Travis is actually a blood pool, probably from the neck wound. There was a huge discussion on this, but if you blow up the photo you can see that it is not a foot.

Thanks. That makes more sense and I can see it that way now. Wow.

what I'm saying is that, if I were the defendant, I'd argue that the roommate(s) did it. And, yes, I would argue that they "said" they didn't notice anything amiss or an odor and that that is implausible under all of the circumstances -- including the dog with no request or instruction for care, the car in the drive or garage and whatever else there is to indicate that he's not "gone" -- possibly his cell ringing as someone suggested. Depending on what he usually did with the dog, that's probably enough right there. I'm guessing he didn't just leave the dog with no boarding and no request/instruction to his roommates about feeding and when he'd be back. And they haven't said otherwise. The smell is another implausible factor. Dead things stink big and intolerable -- especially in AZ in the Summer. So, if they didn't keep the AC at 68 or less every day, there was an undeniable stench. 4000 sq. ft. more or less isn't enought to mask it. Basically, that's two smallish one story homes laid on top of each other. Not a home where one wing doesn't know what the other is doing. The construction of any new home built in az after 2000, especially by KB, is appalling. There's no soundproofing or insulation. Just slap it up. You can hear people breathing in the other room. jmo

Agreed! One of my daughters has a home in Scottsdale that her and her fiance live part of the year in. They keep that AC going year round whether they are there or not.
