Perhaps why the seem to get along so well......
 
Jeepers! He sure has a lot of judgments for non-payment of invoices. Everything from potential expert witnesses (the pathologist), court reporting firms and now printing companies. And it has been going on for years. I hope his staff's paychecks don't bounce.

This is the kind of stuff that makes the foreclosure and European vacation relevant for me. It shows a history of totally irresponsible financial decisions.

Hey Beach, not just irresponsible financial decisions but bordering on criminal in my opinion. Isn't not paying for things you acquire the same as stealing?

Look at what happens if you don't pay your credit card bills. I think that sometime in the future we will see Baez being disbarred.

So, he does not have the same attorney (or any attorney) representing him on this foreclosure? yet? And, he asked them to dismiss the complaint on July 9th ... but they have not done that?

ETA: Oh, sorry - I was confused for a minute ... this info is on his first home foreclosure, the more expensive home, right?!

BBM - You got it ThinkTank! He did ask for the first case to be dismissed, and it was not. There was some sort of filing due by 9/7/10, I have no idea what that was about though.

The 2nd foreclosure JB does not have an attorney listed yet or a court date assigned. For that matter it does not show that JB was served yet. I also happened to see the unpaid taxes were sold to a company in GA. So JB will have to pay these people in order to ever sell the Woodstream house, see the link below:

I cannot believe that this man who cannot manage his own finances, is the "lead attorney" on this high profile death penalty murder case, and has the power to make decisions regarding finances for the case!

What does it mean when someone's taxes are sold to someone? I've never heard of that before. Who would buy someone's taxes, same peeps who buy bridges - ha!
 
Just wanted to add my 2 cents...FWIW.

Regarding the unpaid property taxes being sold to another party. There is a real "business" in buying tax certificates. Parties "bid" for the interest rates payed on the $ amount.

I suspect that the county went ahead and arranged for another party to buy the tax certificate in order to get their money.

The party that buys the tax certificate can not foreclose until after 2 consecutive years of tax certificates being issued on that property. After that time and prior to the third year...they become the first lienholder. THis is based on FLorida and does not apply to all states.

Either the property owner or the lender will have to pay the tax bill prior to any transfer.

Very much so....it affects their credit score drastically. It used to be that you could file a Chap. 13 bankruptcy, put the arrearage in the repayment plan and reaffirm with the lender. However, you had to stay extremely current or the mortgage company would file a motion to lift stay and BOOM! you were forced out. However, I am not as knowledgable about the bankruptcy laws since the big change in 2005, so I am not positive that can be done. Also, those laws can vary a little per state.

I think JB is willing to let both of these properties "go" ... as he most likely anticipates making so much money in the near future, he can then buy as many new homes as he wants.

I'm sitting here imagining the beautiful wardrobe I could have if I ignored paying our property taxes that are almost equal to our mortgage. Now I have to go kick something. :banghead:

This really ticks me off (not the people who genuinely run into hard times) about people who abuse the system and do whatever is necessary for themselves regardless of the ramifications to others. That should be against the law not encouraged. Also JB probably has a connection where other people who really need a break may not be able to get an appointment with their bank. Let's all just throw in the towel then. What a crock of _____!
