Jose Baez to read Casey Anthony's Statement regarding her daughter's memorial

I remember seeing a report on Danielle van Dam and how her ashes were in this beautiful urn on a mantel... her mother said Danielle would always be with her, doing it that way. So I would understand Cindy keeping Caylee's ashes... as much as people put Cindy down, from all outward appearances, Caylee was Cindy's world after she was born.

I am glad Cindy and George are doing things the way they want to... Casey's statement today was not needed, but at least it gives insight into the fact that Casey is still existing in her own selfish world where it is all about "me, me, me". Let the b*tch rot...

De-lurking to ask:
I want to know how Casey could "know that Caylee was cremated" by her parents if she has not spoken with them since Oct. 14. How did she request that Caylee be buried with a headstone if she didn't even "believe" the child was deceased until her remains were found on Dec. 11?

And if she HAS talked to her parents since Oct 14, where are THOSE tapes from the jail? I thought her parents hadn't seen her for months!

It was said that this memorial will be absent Caylee's "remains." I believe that one of the reasons for GA's depression was more then likely the fact that Casey was not turning over the remains to them. Like it or not,and most of us don't, KC was Caylee's mom. Therefore she has legal right to the remains.

It appears, in order to get closure, C & G are going ahead with the memorial.

To me that says a lot. They must have gotten sick of KC's game playing and decided to do the right thing for Caylee.

It's incredible to me though that JB allowed this to be made public. Poor lawyering, IMO.

My dad was cremated and then buried with a tombstone. So it can be done both ways.

My mother's side of the family uses cremation pretty often. At the funerals, the remains are in some kind of decorative urn, and there are pictures up. Then we go to the cemetery, like a normal burial, and the urn is set up, again with a picture, and there's a graveside service. Then the urn is buried in some kind of heavy metal box, with a headstone.

I think a cremation ceremony can be as varied as any burial ceremony. The person's not in there either way. In both cases it's just a container being buried... moo!

Baez?

Wonder if CA is furiously editing tomorrow's eulogy as we speak, scrubbing out all mentions of KC.

I PRAY that there are NO pictures of casey at the memorial tomorrow:(

Jose is the message-deliverer between Casey and her parents.

Saw him on Headline News, as well as JVM just a few minutes ago with a statement from "his client".

I can't imagine after today there will be. Depends on how much editing can be done and how fast. Guess we'll get a glimpse of the real family agenda tomorrow (not that I'll be watching, but I'll check in here -- that's about all i can take).

On Issues with JVM a defense atty says this is a bad move by JB and KC.

But if they can use this control issue to explain why she never told her parents (mostly CA) she was missing?..She's definitely going to get nailed for waiting those '31 days'..Almost everyone on the planet can't fathom why she did but it doesn't help explain her behavior during this time..Nothing possibly can!

That's right, only you explained it better than I did. Thanks.

There is no "code of ethics" to follow when it comes to laying to rest of loved one. People are allowed to mourn in whatever way they see fit....casket or no casket. I read stories about how the deceased was brought back to the house and proped up in their favorite lay-z-boy or whatever....just because its not in the "normal" fashion, doesnt make it wrong. With that being said, if Caylee was cremated, that was THEIR choice and how THEY choose to holda service is THEIR choice.q

Not sure about FL, but in my state the next of kin or executor of estate has to sign for the cremation to happen, has to sign the release to get the cremated remains and has to sign the certificate of cremation.

Since JB has control of Caylee's remains, I suspect they are still at the funeral home. Which could be why both BC and JB are sending mixed pressers about Caylee's remains. After reading KC's presser, I don't think CA has them which is why she decided to do this memorial -- to piss off KC as best she can at the moment.

KC's statement was simply a "watch out" I am really frustrated again.

I find this very interesting because I had thought that Ca made a deal with KC/JB to get the remains in exchange for pics to sell for the defense. Now I think I may be mistaken, and CA is simply saying enough waiting GA needs this so we're going to do it, regardless of what KC wants. Then KC comes back with "I still have control, because I still have Caylee's remains, and you can't get them.....Completely plausible.

I do, I do. Maybe this is all just a control issue between Cindy and Casey but if it is, Cindy wins this round. One big NEENER to Casey

Getting serious again though, IMO, it's Caylee who actually won this round. Casey wanted her buried quietly and privately, as if she was something to be ashamed of. Cindy obviously feels Caylee deserves better. I'm glad.

Caylee was never in the 'fight' to begin with and she certainly didn't win anything. casey wanted a private family service. you seem to believe the anthony's already held that. whether Caylee remains in a funeral home or has already been buried, the very humanity you ask of people on this board would seem to be lacking in george and cindy for having kept that information from casey.

Caylee definitely did not win this round. She is still a pawn.

You still have a church service with a coffin when your loved one is cremated. The service can also continue at the crematory (sp). The only difference is that the coffin goes into a furnace instead of the ground.

Not everyone wants a church service; but yes, you can have a church service if cremated.

My mother was cremated and did not want a church service, a memorial service, or a coffin. She was dying of cancer and wanted a "roast" while she was still alive. That is what we did. (It was very difficult to "roast" my dying mother!)

Jb can't make her do, or refrain from doing anything. He can only advise her, and we all know how well KC listens to advice. She probably threatened to send a letter directly to the news media, which forced him to acquiesce in order to at least retain some control over what was said.

I was wondering that...now, I didn't see the pressor but earlier in the thread people were stating how much JB looked like he didn't want to be there. Anyone else see JB as not wanting to read this statement too?

Hello fellow WS....Im from Canada and have been following this from day 1. I have posted a few times but wanted to start a thread to see if I could find out some info.

I want to send a teddy bear/flowers or something to the memorial site from my family since I cannot be there. Who would I call? or do you know of anyone I could send some money to get something from us?

TIA
Michelle

Me, me, me.
Is it customary for cremated remains to be buried, or is she referring to some sort of memorial marker...that Caylee's remains won't actually be there?

ETA: Nevermind. I get it. She's talking about what she wanted to do with Caylee's remains.

Even IF you are cremated your ashes go in a box that may be buried. Caylee can have a headstone.

My mother-in-law was cremated and she was buried in a bronze box.

My husband and I made and prepaid our "final arrangements". We chose plastic boxes or our ashes and have our lot and a headstone.

It doesn't matter if Caylee was cremated. There could not have been a viewing.

If Casey had had her way, Caylee would still be in a trash bag or strewn by animals. Putting a heart on the duct tape didn't make it prettier over Caylee's face. Coffin or urn, Caylee couldn't have been viewed. Either way she can still be buried and have a headstone. Or she can rest on a mantle. It is your choice. Funeral homes gladly make available many options and combinations of options.

IMO

I agree, I just don't know how to believe anymore.
It was a short statement and all he said was that Casey wants Caylee to be buried in a casket so that she can someday come and visit her tombstone. Casey is against the Public Memorial wants only a private funeral. Baez also said that Caylee was already cremated.
When asked in Spanish if Casey would watch the memorial Baez said no because she didn't want this to be a public memorial for Caylee she felt it should be private. It will not surprise Baez if she does not watch the memorial tomorrow. Baez also said he would not attend any public memorial for Caylee, only a private one if invited...I wonder if he was not invited?

The statement content was bad enough, but I am in shock that JB read it. No credible lawyer, especially a defense lawyer trying a murder case, would let his client release such a statement.

It simply is wrong. JB has celebrititis bad. Real bad. He has lost sight of his job: to defend KC (:censored:). That's it. He should not be a PR flaky, taking instructions from his client. He should be making sure nothing is done to compromise her case, as much as I really can't stand KC, that is her right.

In my opinion, JB is on his way down, and out.
