So basically, it seems it will be entirely up to the docs how long OP spends at the hospital each day.

It is going to be a hassle for him having to travel there and back every day though, no matter how long he has to spend there, I guess....

Considering he drives 200mph, I'm sure he can get there and back pretty quick each day.

Well, that proceeding was short and sweet. So Oscar gets to sleep nights at uncles' luxury home.

Too bad................

I'd like to hire a really noisy little plane and fly it constantly over Uncle Arnold's property with a big banner reading "JUSTICE FOR REEVA'!!!

I am disappointed. It does seem like special treatment.

Well lets hope this sets a precedent so that poorer and less connected people requiring assessments are treated the same to reduce the backlog .
The system should be the same for everyone .

Ooh. The trial record will be made available to the psychiatrists. Wonder what they'll make of Oscar implying everyone that testified for the State is inept, corrupt, lying, or has a vendetta against him? Especially considering one psychiatrist has testified against paranoia. ;)

The court will be postponed until June 30th.

Concluded.

What in the cornbread h3ll? Do they have a support group available? I'm pretty sure this qualifies as cruel and unusual punishment.......for us WSers.

It doesn't seem to be a big drive. Waterkloof to Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital is 11kms (approximately 23 minutes).

I have never had a psyche assessment done on me, some would say, why not? that's how it is, but I know people who have, and its no picnic.. he will be cared for and treated politely but these people are fully aware and experienced in assessment of those charged with a criminal act.. even murder, or most probably murder.. Oscar will be one more in the queue of thousands before him, more to come.

I honestly don't see this as a win for Oscar in any context..

Anyone know anything about the facility? I missed the name to google. Hopefully, his psychologist doesn't know the psychologists and psychiatrists there.

That's is actually really funny.

(I'm not in the mood to laugh, though. I may not follow this case any longer. Was very interesting up until now. Had some good laughs, here, and lots of on intelligent conversation). IMO, in the end, he's going to get off with a very light sentence. It maked me ill. )

There were a few leaks from the hospital at first, in the Dewani case. But authorities clamped down on that. I am guessing they will be even tougher in OP's case, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is still a whisper or two from this hospital.

I think there may be a little 'scene' or two, as I'm not sure OP will be able to visit the hospital day after day without getting a little snappy with people.

and the even nicer bit, is their report is made available to the court. which is you and me ,babe!!

Eish ! When he goes down, and I believe he will get at least some time, it is going to be huge drop in living conditions for him !

Outpatient. Blah. A lot of blinking there from OP.... and one of the biggest sighs too from him (at the point of Judge Masipa revealing the quacks). Still going to be hard going for him. Interesting Court and State went with profs (one of which a Clinical Psychologist too). My call - they're going to find he knew right from wrong and was in full mental faculty at the time. No GAD previously, maaaybe now he's relatively anxious due to trial, but no GAD at incident.

Masipa has made no order for a "mental state evaluation" (MSE) to ascertain "if subject is a danger to himself or others", only MSE for "capicity" (I think she did) and and MSE for "mental state at time of offence" (MSO or MSE-Offence).

Not surprising because a) he has no priors in killing people, b) he's been out on bail for over a year and not killed anyone else, c) Vorster did not say he was a danger to society in his present state.
bbm

Shame he didn't have as much self control last Feb 2013...just sayin' :sigh:

I think it's a huge win. My reasons are upstream. I have had in-patient psych assessments and they're not bad to begin with. Out-patient... a cake walk. trust me.

This is a travesty. Bet Nel didn't want it.

come up here and sit on Troops knee, colonel. now. :therethere: its not all a dark cloud. you wait.. hang in there. Oscar is being stripped of all avenues of appeal one by one.

Couldn't help but notice those 4 women in green in the front row. They looked ready to make Oscar soup.

so a week off for op until the 26th [why?]

back on 30th june? [which is only 25 working days onwards]

is the 30 day assessment including weekends, or 30 days span [i.e. four weeks?]
