Perhaps the items were a recent addition to those stocked and it wasn't on the shelf during previous visits.

A poster a upthread stated this particular candy genitalia has been popping up in "regular" stores near her. It may be a rather new item or they may be seeing a surge in their marketing success in recent months. This could explain why it "popped up" (pardon the pun) at Serendipity.
