I've read through the two threads for Lucas, and looked on the map and I am totally stuck. I would have thought water but it sounds like there's not a lot of suitable water there at this time of year? The landscape feels very alien to me with the block layout, and the environment/locale seems so different from other cases I've followed. Do houses there have basements? I'm wondering if the time of year and the lack of water and tree-filled bushy areas makes an indoor site more likely? But I don't really know how anyone might gain access to an indoor site that wouldn't be used/frequented enough for Lucas to have been found by now?

There are some water areas around that look interesting, but for most of them access feels like a tripping point? The ponds in the Beech area look interesting? So much water on the mapview (the one that isn't satellite view) to the north west? South east feels preferable from a roads perspective to avoid the bigger roads, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of places with effective cover out there?

I'm also curious with that grid layout how a person might go about stopping a car at the side of the road to walk a short distance from the road "carrying the body of a five year old" ...sorry to say that when there's a relative around :-(

His pictures show a darling little boy. While I'm trying to leave my emotions at the door to consider the case, my heart goes out to Lucas's loved ones.

I was wondering about Lucas's clothing. Does he normally wear socks around the house? Does he wear socks to bed? Could the clothes have been used for pyjamas?

Poor Lucas has been thru too much in his short life. Praying for him & those who love him.

I doubt that LE would ever tell a parent that^^^ was what was going to happen. In the majority of cases I have seen, LE asks the parents to make a plea on TV for the child's safe return. I have never seen a case where LE would advise the parents to remain anonymous.

I disagree that showing their faces would not gain them more exposure. I think more people would realize they knew of Lucas, if they saw his parents, and then they would place them as a family from their school or neighborhood or the local park. It would give more context to the situation, imo.
I'm having trouble remembering *any* missing child case where the parents remained anonymous. Maybe Noah Thomas? It's very unusual.

William. But as Katy pointed out, that was not by choice.

Top picture is from Christmas. Middle is January 13th. Bottom is December 26th. Thank you for sharing these.

I love these photos - Lucas seems like a kid who would be fun to have around. He's definitely captured my heart.

Random thought...trying to think what all parks could have in common besides dirt, plants, trees... I wonder if Lucas and his siblings ever participated in the hiding painted rocks activity? Here's what it is for anyone not familiar: http://www.kansas.com/news/local/article155793219.html
People who hide rocks or search for rocks to re-hide could easily become familiar with all the area parks. And many people take home good painted rock finds to keep or to take to another park later to re-hide. I'm probably reaching. Just random a theory on why/how a "tip" might point to multiple possible park locations. Trying to think outside the box. :hiding:

[Totally off topic, but this activity sounds fun. I might do it! :) ]

Still no word? Lucas, where are you little buddy? [emoji22]

Yes, women are more likely to put children in water, wrap them in blankets, leave something the child is attached to.... things like that which are "motherly."

Not sure how that translates if the child is terrified of water?

I have seen pictures of Lucas fishing on the edge of the water, fish clearly in the water. So I know he would get CLOSE to the water. I would probably search the ponds for that reason, there are fish in them.

Normally I would agree with you. However I think Lucas is such a unique little dude that people will remember him far more than his other family members.

These eyes. The smile. They are both so unique.
I would remember if I had met this child. Or seen him.
I just wish somebody had scooped him up and kept him safe.
I so hope that is what has happened... Lucas needs a miracle.

Awww.....I love this photo of our little guy!

Regarding searching the neighbor's shed.....could the "tip" to the park searches be that a neighbor had offered to take the new kid on the block to the park sometime, and that offer was uncomfortable? Total speculation - just trying to keep an open mind about possibilities. Maybe we've been assuming one particular person is responsible for the disappearance and we're wrong.

I'm putting the idea on the table for now. They searched the shed for a reason.

Others today have posted about kids getting stuck somewhere in the home - which is another possibility, especially given they've just moved and things might be exciting to explore but also in disarray with boxes, heavy objects not put away yet, etc.

Speculating, brainstorming, thinking aloud. JMopinion at the moment with what little we know now.

Maybe the police think he's been deceased long enough that he would have surfaced already if he were in water.

I hope he isn't in the water, but the cold temps of the water would keep him submerged until the water temps rise which usually doesn't happen until spring.

I know every investigation is different but I'm getting a feeling that those closest to Lucas is NOT responsible for his disappearance. Here's my reasoning. Lets take a look at the last child who was last seen in their bed, Mariah Woods. At first LE treated it as a possible abduction but within a couple of days it became clear that she wasn't kidnapped. While LE never said anything official their actions spoke volumnes, particularly their search warrants for the home Mariah disappeared from, they seemed to be focusing a lot of energy on the house. Within a couple of days of the search warrant they had arrested the boyfriend for concealment of a body and they had Mariah within 24 hours.

Now lets look at Lucas. It's been 4 days since he was reported missing. LE has given no indication there was something fishy going on in the house, there have been no search warrants at either the current or previous home, there haven't been any so called "midnight interrogations" of step-mom or dad. There hasn't even been any legitimate evidence to indicate possible abuse save for the accusations on social media and some family members.

Oh...and something to say about RSO's in the area. I know some folks like to automatically go to RSO's in an area but keep in mind, every one knows who they are, they aren't quite as likely to reoffend since people are aware of their presence and LE keeps a tight leash on them. It's not the RSO's I concern myself with, it's the sex offenders we don't know about that concern me. They can operate with impunity and under the radar because no one knows about them.

All of this is just my opinion, I have nothing but past experience as a source of reference.

This is just my opinion,I might be completely on my own here but I think that the individual responsible for Lucas' disappearance, (because surely we don't believe this 5 year old boy walked away and is still out there, fending for himself) made him disappear before 2/17.

I really want to know when Dad left and when he was due to return. We don't know that yet do we?

That we know of as fact. No public announcements. We do know they had K9 in the home on Saturday and Sunday.
LE has held all info extremely close.
I don't recall any info from LE in Maria's case either. But they are all different.

Bringing forward my post from upstream re: forensic botany for discussion if anyone is interested, (what is unique to a park around there?), as I've been thinking along the same lInes, even before the search of the second park yesterday:

"In addition to a tip, camera, ping, etc leading them to this location, I was thinking maybe something applicable to forensic botany (as they call it), certain type of soil, leaf...something specific to that "nature preserve"...maybe even a type of animal feces or hair...perhaps there were muddy shoes at the house....samples of course would take time to be sent off/ analyzed in a lab etc so perhaps not likely, unless it was something quite obvious, or they had such immediate lab resources available.

The reason I think of this specifically is because of a "Forensic Botanist" in Colorado I saw on TV. She is part of a genius group, forgot their name, who goes out to help recover remains in cold cases, iirc. She was able to locate a body waaay up in a mountain due to isolating a specific type of Aspen tree that only grew there. Iirc, there was something about the way the sun would face in order to facilitate the growth of this particular tree, hence isolating the direction/ spot on the side of the mountain of the remains."

"I'm noting that in this day of modern technology, and the resources assigned and available here, someone can take a cell picture of a leaf, have it immediately sent out."

Some kind of paving, gravel...?

Maybe look at the particular landscaping, botany, etc of those parks maybe.

So what do the GP Nature Preserve and Grove Park have in common that maybe other places don't have? And if there is something, where else close by does it exist?

Sorry if this has been answered already— I haven’t caught up yet.

The first two parks, Great Plains/Chisholm Creek and Grove Park will have similar foliage. They are very close in proximity and may even share a creek or water source.

The third park, Harrison. Is very, very different from the other two. The only thing they have in common that I can think of is a cement walking path and a pond. They don’t seem to be interested in ponds, so really we are down to a cement walking path.

BBM That's kinda my point. They had K9's over the weekend then moved on from the house and haven't been back since whereas in the Woods case they focused on the house. In Mariah's case while LE didn't reveal anything about the warrants media became aware of them pretty quickly and were blasting it all over the news the same day they were filed. I agree, LE is holding this one close. As morbid as it sounds, I'm kinda keeping Mariah as a point of reference, she was found one week shy of when she disappeared, I hope that holds true for our little Lucas, we get him back at the latest by Friday.

Please Lord, let this baby be found today. With the amount of heartache this is causing me, I can't BEGIN to imagine how the family feels right now. I'm just sad. Angry. Sad. Anxious. Please let him be found today.

Which pond specifically? Tia.

Margarita, this was a pond just southeast of Harrison Park. I don’t think there is a name for it.. someone on here was just curious about the pond.
