I don't even think she knows how much dog doo doo she is really in.

I think you are right. Right now all she can think of is how exciting it is. Romeo and Juliet did not become a classic because the "tragedy" of teens who cannot be together was a made up thing.

They stole the Toyota Tundra from a man's driveway I assume in the early morning.

When the man woke on Wendsday morning, the truck was gone.

If they continue, they will eventually end up like Jessica Reid & Gregory Fester.

I had to look those two up. I really hope these two do not escalate to the degree Fester and Reid did!! It breaks my heart that this little girl should be huddled in a sleeping bag along with the rest of her 13 year old friends gossiping about guys and listening to music, not out committing felonies.

Apparently 13 is the new 20. Good grief, what parent lets a legal adult "date" their 13 yr old child? Or was it not permitted and they were together anyway? UGH.

I was deciding whether to say essentially the same thing you just posted above -- Let's just hope that the parents of both of them are good friends and they know both of the kids (what?) well and have for the last 18 years... Mmppfffhh.
And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

for now

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't think she looks 13 at all. Her SM pictures show a girl that looks much older, imo, as do her mannerism and the way she carries herself. Not exactly a refined young lady, but she has the confidence of an older teenage girl. This girl will be lucky if she spend the rest of her childhood in juvie. She's far too happy in those surveillance photos to pretend to be a victim when this is over.

I am going to be the unpopular poster here. To me, Cheyenne is an active participant, but she is still just 13 years old and is being led by a MUCH older guy. How many other cases have we seen where a 13 year old is led astray by an older guy? In those cases, we call the victim a victim and the older guy a predator. How is this different? (I am asking an honest question, not trying to be snarky because I have wavered between victim and perpetrator with her.)

I like how you put it- "active participant". That better describes how I feel. She's a victim in that she's young and has obviously had adults fail her, BUT she's willingly participating in these crimes. On the other hand, while I don't think she can comprehend all that's going on, she does appear to have led him on too.

I don't buy his mom's story at all. 13 year olds do not talk about the same things that 19 year olds do. A 19 year old would be either in college or working. She can't drive and attends middle school ffs!

Sonny boy had to know she had no classmates or friends that drove or attended college. Nope not buying it. They are in cover my azz mode IMO

They are probably getting money by taking it when they break into houses.

They may be stealing food, too. Other than a drive-thru, how could they eat? They may have also stolen blankets and clothing. And I'm sure they're pulling off on some back road & sleeping in the vehicle. How are they getting gasoline -- drive-offs should be nearly impossible since you have to pay before pumping -- unless they have stolen credit cards.

I agree she probably did lead him on...as only a 13 year old in an adult world can. He probably provides for her things she has lacked in her life from a male figure. In her eyes, this guy is her protector and only he cares about her in what ever way she needs for him to care; he fills the empty spaces in her "love tank".

Guys like this worry me. I thought of my brother when I read about this guy. My brother is immature and has nothing to offer girls his own age and therefore he targeted younger girls; to young girls, he was amazing, not a loser. My brother was and I would suspect still is a predator who any young girl he comes across is a potential victim. (I should add that he is an RSO. No family protecting him here!!)

I see 4 outcomes:

1. They get caught by LE
2. Murder Suicide
3. They get killed by a homeowner
4. They get killed by LE

Agreed -- a 21st century Bonnie & Clyde. No Cinderella story, this one. And if she is, or thinks she is, pregnant, she'll never let go of him. Could that be why they're running?

They have started robbing houses.

Cheyenne Phillips, 13, and boyfriend Dalton Hayes, 18, have been on the run since they left home Jan. 3. They have stolen cars, forged checks and robbed homes in Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, police said.

robbery
shoplifting
writing bad checks
stealing guns
stealing vehicles
property damage

I hope they both get charged as adults.......

I wonder which state will get them first? Can you say, "Habeas corpus" --?
I'm thinking she might get threatened with an adult charge but that it won't happen. Unless they start using guns...

I agree. Cheyenne doesn't appear to be a 13 year old innocent. I wonder how quick she'll turn on him if they get caught?

If she's pregnant (please, I hope not) she'll prolly never turn on him. She may feel that he's all she's got, whether she is pregnant or not.

I imagine this would make her more determined to hang on to the "love" she believes she has in her 13 year old mind. I am still adamant she is 13 and a victim to a guy who is 5 years older than her. Cheyenne is old enough to know right from wrong, however she is being influenced by a much older guy. Again I ask, how is her situation different from other missing girls who are preyed upon and led into a life of crime (prostitution and the like) by an older man they think hung the moon?

She may have led him on about her age, but I wonder how much difference it would have made if she had told him her real age... She's pretty as a doll and seems fairly poised for a 13 y/o. He certainly didn't stop dating her when he found out -- and I'm betting he found out soon enuff. 18 years old is not that old when it comes to sexual matters and making bad decisions. It's a big shame all the way around, and what they have done cannot be undone.
