It appears that the jury in Kentucky makes so many decisions… guilt, amount of time on sentencing, and if they will be served consecutively or concurrently.

I thought the statement Ed Dansereau’s daughter wrote and read was beautiful, encompassing his life and what he meant for so many. I imagine writing it may have been cathartic for her, not knowing if it would be read in court after a verdict as it was prepared ahead of time.

I agree, she had me in tears though out a lot of it.
Believe it or not, she is actually the Assistant Attorney General.

I an trying to be kind here... She must know the right people and the AAG must be given out in Cracker Jack boxes. Do they still do that?

@Niner 10:58, jury just left to deliberate in penalty phase

Already??!! So the lady from the Commonwealth gave a statement & the defense also? And the Judge read Ed's daughter's letter? Anything else?

Short openings from both sides, someone from dept of probation with sentencing report, Matt son of the Phillips’, Ed Dansereau’s daughter, short closings from both sides. I think that’s it, sorry I didn’t catch names maybe someone else did.

No problem on not catching the names! :) The tweeter person isn't giving out much info.... o_O

I watch quite a few trials but what happens on appeal? Does that reverse the guilty verdict so he goes free? Or does he serve part of the sentence or what?

I still think he didn't do all these crimes. He served this country for 30 odd years; in combat areas. Why would someone with this record suddenly go rogue and kill 3 people and try to burn a house down around one of them; let alone do it in the rain and dark? And plant his own identifying article ( dog tag) so the cops could find him easier?
First, the defense has to file motions for appeal and a Judge as to rule if there is sufficient grounds to grant the appeal or retrial. I do not know the laws in KY about appeals, and there very well could be some kooky law like many of the others I have learned about during this trial. I am not a lawyer, but it appears that he has several avenues on which to file multiple of appeals. However, it is probably going to be hard to get a KY judge to grant an appeal based on prejudice, it appears there is still a "god ole boy" system in KY. Their best bet in my opinion at this moment probably would be to continue to investigate Joan and Stokes and hope they can find new evidence or find any possible misconduct by prosecution. They would probably have a better chance of a Judge granting a new trial based on those issues rather than on prejudice (although I think there definitely are grounds for this).
I agree with you on the dog tag issue, and I think all the way around, if he did commit the murders he is smart enough to do a better job of planning this out. He is a ranger and I don't believe he would have gone back to a crime scene three times. Also, if he wanted to get rid of Cal before the court marshal trial, why did he wait so long? That trial had been scheduled numerous times, any one of those times, I would have thought he would have committed the murder before it got as far as it did?

Has anyone read the article by NCFM, written on 2/21/2021 where they told of several officers had committed perjury in court. Re: cell phone locations and shell casings supposedly fired by CM's gun.

Also, Joan was involved with a brother of a CCSD officer. And that officer was not pictured on the sheriff's website and was at both the crime scenes. That should be enough of a clue that something smells in that area of KY and needs cleaning. Corruption is insidious.

Sorry to you good Kentucky folks.

Listening to the defendant's direct examination now and OMG - when they say it's a huge gamble and almost never a good idea for a defendant to testify, this is the testimony they should show as an example!! This is a classic abuser flipping the script! The idea of putting all the blame on his ex is insanity! I can't believe his lawyer is allowing this but as we know the narcissistic defendants always want to testify because they believe themselves to be so smart and skilled at manipulating people. This is a prime example! There is no way his lawyer wanted him to testify given that (from my limited viewing of the trial/evidence) it wouldn't have been hard to argue reasonable doubt in this case. But like I said before, he is IT imo. It's a highly circumstantial case but he is IT. All that's needed is common sense here and the jury had plenty of it obviously. And him testifying cinched the deal.

He is trying so hard to sound like some innocent dumbfounded college boy! With his silver streaked beard. It's unreal. He's also pushing his service hard to tug at the patriots. But also acting like he was treated unfairly and people didn't see how the whole thing was stupid. Talk about a persecution complex! All these crazy women and the stupid military! This testimony definitely sunk him! Wow.

Well, I for one will never visit or patronize any business in Christian County, KY. Pretty sure you won't miss me but this has been awful and I hope there are hundreds of calls and emails complaining about this conviction. As I said before the corruption must be filling southwest KY. Judge at first seemed unique; then stunk, same with
Whaley and Garcia.

I hope they are flooded with appeals.

All good points. At the beginning of the trial I was on the side of guilty, but through out the trial the defense chipped away at that for me. I agree Kit is a smart man, but I think that he may have done better with carrying out the crimes give

I am also still stunned at the verdict. I believe he has a strong appellate case. I don't understand how they could not have doubts about the evidence. The system did not work this time.

I so want to hear from so many new members here at WS as you are. What are your thoughts as to someone new following trials here and commenting at WS?

Great that there are so so so many new members posting here, and most all those believe that it was an incorrect verdict. Yet it seems so weighted by new members here at WS.

As to fresh eyes following crimes here at WS and posting, what is your reasoning and concern that he didn't do such as to the evidence?

I've never posted, only lurked............but I am FLOORED! I cannot believe jurors thought the prosecution did anything more than a horrible job. The lady was one of the worst I've ever, ever seen! Why does she even have that job??? This is all so weird.

Welcome to WS with your first post at WS. Glad to have you here for input and discussions!

Can you expound as to what makes you believe such within TOS as to why "the lady was one of the worst etc."?

No, I have not seen such. Do you have a link to share as you are focused on this case since joining. TIA

I came here during the Tibbett's trial looking for a place to post about how it is going in court. Scrolled thru channels and found Court tv and saw the pic of Martin and read the blurb about 3 murders and military guy and pilot. I thought "Him?" so started following. So much defense evidence and so little Commonwealth and a hint or 2 or 10 of LEO corruption. Further up than LEO's possibly.
