Thanks for reposting this. A "private meeting," eh?

Too bad Kim's conscience is so sensitive about gay marriage but when it comes to that bearing false witness thing, eh, not so much.

My theory is she is working her way through the Ten Commandments one by one: we already have adultery (divorce) and now bearing false witness. How long before she covets her neighbor's goat?

She claims that it was a "humbling" experience, but I don't believe she felt humbled at all. IMO, she's using this as an opportunity to puff herself up - her self-exaltation has climbed even higher, even though her so-called "secret private meeting' with the Pontiff was anything but private, since it's been subsequently reported that the Pope greeted many other people in that same meet & greet, exposing her & her attorney as liars.

Shaver may be using her to promote his own agenda, but as far as I'm concerned Kim Davis is a willing participant with an agenda of her own. IMO, they're both using each other, in addition to trying to use the Papal visit to promote themselves.

Well, I'm happy to admit that I was hasty in judging the Pope, and naive in believing the initial reports (including that of the Vatican spokesman). I prefer a world where we can still have this tremendous Pope and have the Liberty Counsel once again reveal just how vile they are.

If God was really on Miss Kim's side, she and her attorneys would not have to resort to lies, half truths, manipulations of fact, and exaggeration.

On this particular issue, I agree. However IMO Pope Francis has shown himself to be less than egalitarian in his views on women.

Agreed, completely. I think that may get lost in the volume of the other surprising things he has said and done. I hope he comes around. It is a huge blind spot for him and his church, as you rightly point out, and he has a big opportunity to set things right.

Christ's example of humility:

John 13:14-15:

14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Mark 9:35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.”

In biblical times, washing someone's feet was considered the lowliest of jobs, reserved for the lowest-ranking member of a household or a servant.

Anyone who is called to be a disciple of Christ is called to be servant. Many are called, but few are chosen, Matthew 22:14.

And what delicious irony that the only "private" meeting the Pope had was with a gay couple, not Kim.

Can't wait to see how the Liberty Counsel tries to spin that little factoid.

The irony is very rich....

Maybe they will go back to their old "Pope is the Anti-Christ" talking points? (The fundamentalist/Catholic alignment has been kinda strange anyway)

I understand where you're coming from, but the OT God lies quite a bit.

I have no point, just saying.

I've thought for some time that Kim Davis has delusions of grandeur. "Private meeting with the Pope" sealed the deal

Very glad to hear that KD is being held in contempt and jailed. I hope this sends a message that behaving any way you want in the workplace is not acceptable. And it's not lawful when it's a government official refusing to follow the law.

KD is free to believe anything she wants. But if her religious views are in conflict with the tasks she is required to do in her job, by law, then she is free to resign and pursue her beliefs elsewhere.

One could even argue that her internal conflict should morally and ethically compel her to resign, so as not to continuously impede the rights of others. She is a public SERVANT of the lawful needs of others. She is to SERVE the public in her role. It's simply not her role to make any kind of policy, or pass judgments on the moral, or "biblical" worthiness of applicants.

We don't allow police to not respond to the calls of gay citizens. We don't allow firefighters to stand by while the home of a gay couple burns down. We don't allow teachers to refuse to teach the children of gay couples.

These kind of "activists" should face serious legal consequences. I'm glad the judge ordered her to be jailed.

It's such a simple solution-- all she has to do is resign. No one has any "right" to force their beliefs on others, or use their beliefs (however sincerely held) to limit the lawful rights of others.

She should not be considered an activist or a martyr by anyone.

K-Z no one can say it better than you just did. You simply relay the facts and the law without getting emotional, name calling, etc. You saved me from getting on here and being rude. thanks!

Ah. So it clearly shows whether people seeking a certificate have been divorced. And we know this hypocrite is not denying divorced people marriage certificates. Some "sincerely held" belief, huh?

Well, she herself is many times divorced, so, in God's eyes, that's ok. And herein lies one of her problems. As a fairly recent convert, she has been "forgiven" those divorces, and her slate wiped clean so that she may be as hypocritical as she pleases!
I said I wasn't going to be rude, but just wanted to point out that she looks exactly like a character on South park already, so they won't have to change a thing when she is characterized there. And you know she will be, and I can't wait.
Also, let me just come out and say what a phony Pope Francis is, and that I hope people will shake themselves out of the crush they have on him.

Even if he met with her and gave her the thumbs up, he still wouldn't allow her to convert to his religion! The Catholic church denies communion to their already baptized members who divorce. Forever. And when a divorced person attempts to join the church, they don't encourage them at all, in fact a friend of mine was flat out denied membership in the Catholic church here because she was divorced.

Francis may pretend he's Mr. Nice Guy, but let me remind
us that no one, and I mean NOBODY gets to be Pope by being Mr. Nice guy in reality.

It's not just with Kim Davis, but it is with everything this Pope does. Come on Francis, you know it is about the American Dollar! How can you ride that dogmatic yet pedagogic tightrope just so, to perfectly balance the giant
collection box on your idolized mitre?

Why the answer is, propaganda, subterfuge, psychological
sabotage, spin, outright lies, etc, LOL.

No, no pope crush hereabouts..

she will soon be a republican catholic, lol She can run against Hillary with Ted Cruz as his VP:drumroll:

She'll be in for a shock when she learns becoming a Catholic isn't as easy as memorizing a sentence and getting dipped into a trough. I don't think she has it in her to tough it through RCIA.

KD and her ilk A/K/A supporters & attorneys are beyond the pale.

I never believed that she had a private meeting with our Holy Father, and that he told her personally to "Stay Strong".

To use the Holy Father and try to capitalize on his visit that promoted such good will, and to many provided a renewed vow of faith, to further there own bigoted agenda(s) is a sad, desperate thing. I am pleased to read that the Vatican did clarify that the only private meeting Holy Father had was with a former student, who happens to also be a gay man - who brought along his partner of 19 years.

Put that in your phony baloney pipe and smoke it KD!

Just want to reply to the idea of his GAY friend. How did we find out he was gay?

Is it important that his longtime friend is gay?

Now we have him supposedly saying a few words of support to an anti gay person; Does he want to encourage others to take her stand by greeting her:
and;
We have him hugging his longtime gay friend who has a long time partner. are they married? Do they want to be? Does Pope Francis care?

A brilliantly played piece of propaganda! The gay haters and
right wing christians think he's on their side,; and the gays think he might actually cave in the church's anti gay stance.

Like PT Barnum said.......

Recent convert notwithstanding... her parents are Catholic, according to Staver so I'm assuming that's what she was brought up to. Catholics aren't big on divorce. She got married a few times in Baptist churches. Divorce and remarriage happens but it's not like Baptists are saying divorce is A-OK either.

So why is it just when she joined the Apostolic church that she's learned the value of biblical marriage?

Because that's when she met Jesus and began a close, personal relationship with him. It was more than just switching religions because she was "saved."

But don't you already have to be a believer or at least profess your faith in Jesus to join a Baptist church? Is it some other Jesus in the Apostolic church?

I don't know. I thought there was a difference between being baptized and being SAVED.

Law Firm Labeled Hate Group Leading Kim Davis' Crusade

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kim Davis' lawyer stood onstage in a Washington, D.C., hotel and pointed to a photo on the screen. It showed 100,000 people packed into a Peruvian soccer stadium, Mat Staver told the crowd, all there to pray for the Kentucky clerk battling against gay marriage.

The crowd erupted.

It wasn't true.

Staver's firm, the Liberty Counsel, which revealed Davis' secret meeting with Pope Francis, has been accused by advocacy groups of peddling misrepresentations in the past. Yet it has become the main source of details about the controversial pope meeting.
