I had posted this on the link in Cold Cases.. maybe we could get the three threads merged?

This case automatically made me think of Tammy Leppert... It is thought that he was once in the MI and FL areas.. this could really bring alot of closure to many families of missing women..


On a side note.. don't #16 and # 17 look IDENTICAL? (it feels awful referring to them as numbers)

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I really think that we're all on the right track! My girls may not be matches, but they are possibilities.

My first impression was no. I think Amy was abducted by the motorcycle gang that rolled through Coconut Grove the day she disappeared. But I'm really not very skilled at comparing photos.

I'm not either, but all we can do is try.. I just think they resemble each other.. Howeve,r it could just be the willowy brown hair etc.. it was very popular back then.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Gilliam met Gary Neal Johnson while hitchhiking in San Jose, California in 1977. Gilliam was 17 years old at the time and in high school; Johnson was 12 years older than her and lived with his parents while selling automotive chemicals. According to Johnson, Gilliam had an unhappy and allegedly abusive home life at the time. Johnson stated that Gilliam had many siblings and acted as the caregiver to the children. Johnson claimed he witnessed Gilliam's mother abuse her daughter shortly after they began dating. Gilliam decided to leave her residence shortly afterwards and she and Johnson hitchhiked to Kansas together.

Johnson said that he and Gilliam were happy in Kansas, but had financial problems and returned to San Jose to live with his parents six months later. Gilliam was employed in a hospital and earned her GED (General Education Development) and her California Nurse's Aide license. She and Johnson moved into an apartment together when their finances allowed it. The couple embarked on a six-week camping trip through the United States during the late spring of 1979. They returned to San Jose and found new jobs in June of that year. Gilliam had been employed at a registry as a nurse's aide for three weeks on June 22, 1979. She was sent home from work on that day when she failed to arrive in her uniform. According to Johnson, Gilliam was last seen returning to their residence and disappeared. She has never been seen again.

Johnson said that he realized Gilliam was missing when he returned home from work that evening. He stated that he searched for her and called the authorities, but was told he had to wait 72 hours before filing a report. Johnson enlisted the help of the San Jose mayor's office on June 25, three days after Gilliam vanished, when he was still refused assistance from law enforcement. Johnson said that the mayor's office intervened and requested that the police and media investigate Gilliam's case.

Johnson married in 1985 and began using drugs around that time. He began selling drugs around 1986 and shot and killed an innocent bystander while involved in a drug transaction. Johnson was convicted of the murder in the late 1980s. He claimed that a prison informant lied to authorities and told them Johnson admitted to Gilliam's 1979 murder. Johnson was charged with the crime and brought to trial in California. Several of Gilliam's family members testified that they believed Johnson was responsible for her death. He was convicted of her murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Johnson maintains his innocence. He has accepted responsibility for the death of the innocent bystander. Gilliam's body has never been located.

Larry Donald Smith was charged with Bealer's abduction and presumed murder shortly after she vanished. Authorities believe that Smith disposed of Bealer's remains in the Pacific Ocean. He was convicted of the charges and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 1980, one year after Bealer disappeared.

Hiya everyone.

If you go to this link, then on the right side of page click on the poster, this gives you a slide show of each picture...much easier to see.

I am going to save this pics to my computer for further investigating...don't know how long we can access these sites.

It may take me awhile to save them all...once I get them saved, I'll post, anyone that wants a file w/these pictures for reference, email me at christine2448@charter.net I will send you all, or requested. THere are a total of 54 pictures, however, a quick scan tells me there are more than 1 picture of some girls.

Pictures saved/Called det. about who is still unidentified
OK...I have them all saved (didn't take nearly as long as I thought!)

I know from reading that pictures # 16 + 17 have been identified as the same person, who called in to say it was her.


The articles also mentioned another picture, but not which one was identified as someone named Donnalee Campbell Duhamel, who was found decapitated in 1978 in a Malibu canyon...but not which picture, haven't had time to research yet to see which is her....if someone figures it out or reads about it please post, thanks.


I just left a message for the Homicide Det. in charge of this case to ask if there is a place we can go online to see which have been identified already, and how to get updates as more are identified. I will update you all as I am.
