I thought we had someone on here who worked in the prisons, if not that one, and said that there was no way he was out and about, as a Level-3 sex offenders. I think it is kind of doubtful that he was given enough freedom to be able to commit murders, even if he was allowed to do something like pick up trash in a group setting.

I think I would be much more comfortable with stating that he could not have possibly committed any crimes during period x through period y if a guard from the prison he was in stated that at no time in those 8 years was he allowed outside the prison. I have never heard that. So, I guess I would like to know what prison is was at and was he in the same prison the whole time and was he ever at all allowed outside for any reason.

We do not have any reason to believe that BL was out of prison and in a capacity to commit other murders during his term of incarceration. It seems to me to be a stretch, but also just reaching, to try to connect him to every crime committed in Louisiana. I don't think even the locals would hesitate to admit there are plenty of other criminals in the area.

Teir 3 offender allowed outside the prison? I sure hope not!

where he remained through Sept. 22, 2005, and was transferred to Avoyelles Correctional Center where he served through Aug. 9, 2008, Laborde said.

Avoyelles Correctional Center

Inmates arrive in the pilot districts with an accountability plan, developed while still incarcerated and subject to ongoing revision by the inmate under the guidance and supervision of a team of staff, who assist and monitor his progress in the community.

inmates have access to a community resource coordinator, a job
development specialist, GED/educational tutors, a violent aggressor’s treatment program, substance abuse counseling, and a basic 22-week life skills building program

It's concerning, but it appears that is exactly why he was transferred to
Avoyelles.
IMO

I agree.

If you type: police investigate death of church point woman
in the google search engine, you will find some very interesting reading...about 642 things to read - even though this woman's death was in 2007, when BSL was still in jail - some pieces of the BSL jigsaw could lie here. JMO

My only issue with my previous comment is that stitches are fairy simple to remove on your own. If he wanted to avoid another hospital visit merely for suture removal, he could have just removed them himself. Maybe it was for something else...

Can't help but wonder if perhaps he burned himself...

"After passing through the Reception and Diagnostic Center at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center for assessment and assignment, he served from July 31, 2000, through Jan. 14, 2002, at the Winn Correctional Center. Paul Phelps Correctional Center in DeQuincy in Calcasieu Parish, where he remained through Sept. 22, 2005, and was transferred to Avoyelles Correctional Center where he served through Aug. 9, 2008, Laborde said."

Looks like he was transferred 3 times.

Stitches are usually removed after about 10 days. We know he went to Oschner in N.O. on the evening of May 19. Reports do not give an exact date of when he later went to Opelousas General, where he received stitches, but I'm going to guess it was no more than 48 hours after his first hospital visit. His car was found burned on May 31 in TX. I can't recall the date he reported it stolen though. May 29? Anyone? His third hospital visit in TX could coincide with suture removal. Maybe he thought it would be less risky in another state.
I hope I don't disturb anyone with this, but I'm a woman with no medical training and I've removed my own stitches. If BSL was really worried about getting caught (I personally think he took a lot of dumb chances and maybe he wasn't all that worried), why would he go to a third hospital just to have stitches removed?

Someone asked earlier how we know that BSL's finger was injured. The Independent article has been shared, but also Someguy posted that BSL's finger was almost cut off days before we saw the news report.

I need to be reminded of who Someguy is.

Somebody.....Someguy? :)

He may have burned himself with gasoline from setting his truck ablaze...and had to get the wounds tended to...

Okay, well, let me put it this way: While I was visiting a friend in x parish near Central Louisiana, I was watching "cops". About that time a figure appeared in the door way with a flashlight and I swear it looked like a real cop. I yelled for my friend "anita" and asked her if I was hallucinating or was there really a cop with a flashlight standing in the doorway of the bedroom where I was watching t.v. She walked in and said that they were looking for Boudreau who had been on a work crew that day but had not shown back up that night for evening roll call. Now Boudreau had an arrest record as long as my arm and was serving time with crimes against children, etc. in his background from previous arrests. However, because he was a diesel mechanic and worked on the sheriff's properties, etc. he had a lot more freedom than other prisoners. I have lived and live in a different state and I know that in my present state prisoners are not given as much freedom as they were in Louisiana.

Certainly there are many more criminals capable of committing crimes in Lousiana besides BSL. I am writing this because I know that some folks on here are from other countries and other states and would not even consider that somebody in prison could commit a crime -- but I am here to say and repeat as often as necessary -- I truly believe in Louisiana that exact thing could and does happen. It just depends on what kind of facility they are in and how much the warden or sheriff or whoever trusts that particular inmate. It sounds to me like BSL was trusted and that sets off red warning lights in my head. NOTHING surprises me. It ain't my first rodeo.

Do we know when he went to the hospital in Texas? Was it at the same time his truck burned?

He may as well go ahead and get a feel for being burned. I think he is gonna experience an eternity of it eventually. JMO

IMHO he would have told the attending doctors horrible children threw fire crackers at him :what:

LOL!
Are there charges against him for arson of his vehicle, tampering with evidence (the truck), filing a false police report, insurance fraud?

"During his time in prison, he completed the adult sex offender program during which time he impressed the program’s director so much that he wrote him a glowing letter which was sent to the Louisiana Adult Probation and Parole Districts. Lavergne was referred to as ‘a man who assists other inmates with their workbooks, handouts, videos, etc. He is prompt, reliable and maintains a positive attitude in his work."

"How much influence the letter (which was written in January of 2003) had on Lavergne’s release is unknown. However, it does reflect the actions of a man who may be capable of easily fooling people"

Food for thought...

I think it is possible that he was NOT behind bars 100% from Feb 2000 - Aug 2008

The sheriff in Winn Parish has a colorful history. Those with a propensity to do so could do some research on that particular character. Does not make me feel very comfortable. I stand my ground -- in my opinion the fact that he was at these places should not rule him out as a suspect if other evidence is found. But as it would be a big embarassment to L/E it may be the connections will never be made and indeed those who say he could never have committed a crime while locked up will be found to be correct. It was suspected that the Jennings murders were done by L/E. Could be that L/E just does not want to admit they trusted someone who should not have been trusted. This is my opinion only. However, I will add that working in the legal field I have written thousands of letters to adjusters for insurance companies describing the legal climate of Louisiana versus other jurisdictions. Louisiana is quite unique and its legal climate was always a challenge to negotiate in -- very different than any other state. With the personal knowledge of the inmates I have known serving time in Louisiana prisons -- I again state -- ANYTHING is possible.
