Family of missing Bastrop woman still looking for answers. | KTVE - myarklamiss.com

KTVE spoke to her mother, Mary Lunford, who says she last spoke to her daughter on mother’s day.

Mary Lunford says she has been getting people telling her where her where her daughter is and who shot her. Lunford refused to reveal the names of these people who may be involved in her daughter’s case.

We did reach out to the Bastrop Police Department and they say they have no updates or a leads at the moment. For now, the family members of Tabitha Queens say they will continue to search every corner until they get answers.

Community search continues for missing Bastrop mother

Now, the community is coming together to help Tabitha’s mother, Mary Lunford find her daughter. They’ve been holding daily searches for Queen since Friday, June 4.

On Friday, Anderson and search crews found a gun in three black trash bags in the woods behind Dotson Park, which is roughly one mile from where Queen’s car was found.

“We did recover a weapon, we don’t know if it’s related to this or not but we did recover a weapon,” said Anderson.

Bastrop Police collected the gun as evidence and roped off the area. Police say they do not know if the gun is connected with Queen’s case.

Bastrop Police said they are taking three items found inside Tabitha Queen’s car to the state crime lab in Shreveport June 11, 2021.

They also said they have brought in four to five people for questioning but have no suspects at this time.

Queen’s mother said she is still not satisfied with how this investigation is going.

Bastrop Police Detective DeWayne Reed said they released the video yesterday because they need help identifying the man seen driving Queen’s car.

“There was certain elements of this investigation that we wanted to keep to ourselves but now since we done as much investigation as we could on it, that’s why we released it now,” said Detective Reed.

Bastrop Police said they have swabbed Queen’s car for DNA and found none. Bastrop Police said they’ve been in touch with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s office and other private agencies like Queen’s cell phone carrier. They said it’s possible for the FBI to get involved in the future.

Reed said they have not received any information from the public since they released the video on June 9, 2021.

Queen’s oldest child, AQ, is 10-years-old, and she remembers what her mom was wearing the last time she saw her.

“She had some pink sweatpants on and she had her favorite jacket on that she loved to wear,” said AQ.

AQ said she was really scared the day her mom went missing. She said she was left home alone with her siblings for at least 24-hours before she went to the neighbors house.

“I got scared, I ain’t wanna live in Louisiana again,” said AQ.

Queen’s children have been back and forth from Louisiana to Texas and Mississippi, staying with family. Ultimately, Queen’s children said they want their mom to come home.

“Mom if you’re watching this, I love you and come home,” said AQ.

So sad. If they've been working on it, how are they just now sending items from the car to the crime lab? IMO, they haven't, and it's because of the pressure from family and others.

Is it possible to wipe something down after you're finished and remove the fingerprints in that way? I've seen it multiple times in books, films, TV etc but don't know if it's something you can actually legitimately do, or if it's just nonsense for fiction to lazily explain away lack of fingerprints in a story.

I've wondered this, too. From what I understand, it doesn't completely remove them, but smears them enough to make it hard to "read." I'm surprised there isn't any hair, or anything from shoes, etc. I feel like the person must have been thorough?

127 days?! I've heard it can take a while, but wow.

127 days?! I've heard it can take a while, but wow.

Sadly, it can take as long here in Arkansas as well because just about everything from the entire state goes to the crime lab in Little Rock. (AR State Crime Lab) Just recently another crime lab opened but they only handle a small % of certain things.

I’m unsure how many crime labs Louisiana currently has. If it’s like AR, the lab will have months of backlogs of evidence to handle.

127 days?! I've heard it can take a while, but wow.

As I was scanning over local news, I came across the following article:
Backlog at the North Louisiana Crime Lab in Shreveport

The article was published 1 day ago.

The North Louisiana Crime Lab in Shreveport is short on DNA analysts, prolonging criminal investigations across Louisiana.

The backlog at the North Louisiana Crime Lab in Shreveport as of June 1, 2021 was 388 cases. The North Louisiana crime lab services 29 parishes in North and Central Louisiana, but they only have 6 DNA analysts to get the job done. The lab in Shreveport is for toxicology and DNA analysis.

The DNA section supervisor at the lab, Michelle Jackson, said the average turnaround time for DNA analysis is about 130 days. She said it can be quick for them to analyze DNA and get a report out for a simple case that only has one item of evidence.

The backlog at the crime lab in Shreveport contributes to the longevity of cases being worked on by agencies across Louisiana.

It’s understandably hard on the families of people involved in ongoing cases.

She heard a “van” or a “man”?

How do you know if it’s a van versus any other kind of vehicle?

Sorry I can't link, but a Non Profit out of San Antonio, Texas are just arriving to help search for Tabitha.

From what I read it should be very helpful.

Search and Rescue SATX is the non-profit coming to search. "Glass said they have a trained K-9 that can smell underwater. They work with two retired sheriffs, three different mediums, and an engineer. Glass said they also have an underwater drone, a sky drone, an ATV commander, and horses."

I questioned this exact thing.
I’m also confused with the timeline somewhat.
Her mother reportedly heard the “van or man” on that Sunday; this was during the phone call that abruptly ended where the mother said she’d call the police if she couldn’t get Tabitha back on the phone.
But she wasn’t reported missing until 3 days later.

Ricky Anderson has been leading daily searches and welcomes the extra help.

Recently, Anderson has been searching around Bartholomew Bayou off of Point Pleasant Road in Bastrop.

“So far we have had no hits and we have had tipsters come in with good tips and we focus on one location, it’s across the bay. Now, she’s either in the woods across the bay or she’s across the bay or she’s somewhere else,” said Anderson.
