In a statement, NOPD Public Information Officer Frank Robertson said, “We’re receiving numerous phone calls from concerned woman about this vicious rumor that’s spreading within social media. We cannot substantiate this rumor, there are no prudent facts or evidence to support this claim. We are in in touch with other local law enforcement agencies and the federal authorities to make them aware of this hoax.”

Monette's cell phone stopped working four hours before she disappeared, while she was at Parlay's, [NOPD spokeswoman Officer Hilal] Williams said. The phone has not been turned on since, making it difficult for detectives to track her possible location.

The Equusearch crew, using 24-foot sonar boats that analyze sound waves to determine an underwater object's size and shape, plans to send divers to check out a ninth car. That car has relatively few barnacles on it, indicating it may have landed in the bayou fairly recently, Miller said.
"We certainly don't get too excited or get our hopes up until the divers come up and say there's a chance," Miller said.
Searchers have not found any signs of tire tracks in the land or mud surrounding various bodies of water between Parlay's, the Lakeview bar in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue where Monette was last seen, and her apartment, Miller said.

New Orleans, La. - The NOPD says they believe missing Harvey teacher Terrilyn Monette was traveling alone in her car the night she left Parlay's Bar in Lakeview.

Detectives have reviewed surveillance camera footage from three red light cameras in the area, as well as cameras from local businesses and private residences.

I understand ruling out the lagoons and the bayou. But, over two weeks were used to do just that.

The search for Monette and her car have focused around several bodies of water, including Lake Pontchartrain and Bayou St. John.

Thursday, NOPD helicopters scoured Bayou St. John, Lake Pontchartrain, and New Orleans East, while the Houston-based volunteer team EquuSearch combed Bayou St. John between Mirabeau Avenue and Robert E. Lee Boulevard for Monette's black 2012 Honda Accord.

"It's really sad leaving," a disheartened Miller said. "But I highly doubt we missed anything during our search. We just ran out of places to look," Miller said.

"I can tell you one thing -- her car is not anywhere where we looked. We combed through those waters and none of those cars belonged to her," Miller said, adding that he plans on "waiting by the phone" for the NOPD to call and ask him to return.


"If they've got more leads, we'll be right back," he said.

Enclade said she hopes that police will now go back and attempt to re-interview the friends and acquaintances who were with Monette the night when she was last seen leaving Parlay's bar in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue.


"I know that they've interviewed all these people already, but I'm starting to get frustrated. Somebody there has got to know something about what happened to my daughter," she said.

The Jefferson Federation of Teachers and the American Federation of Teachers announced a $2,000 contribution to the Crimestoppers reward for information leading to Monette&#8217;s discovery.
