No deliberations today.

After a full day of deliberations, the jury in the Samantha Woll murder trial did not reach a verdict Wednesday, though it will take a daylong break on Thursday due to a scheduling conflict involving one of the jurors.
A day to digest what they discussed yesterday with verdict tomorrow (Friday). JMO

Video not available yet but I will paraphrase the report on WDIV at 4:00PM today.

Jury dismissed at 2:00PM. They did not reach a verdict and are apparently deadlocked. The Judge read instructions about how to proceed when a jury is deadlocked, and the jury is expected to continue deliberating on Monday.

Thanks for that update. Wow.

Detroit — A Wayne County jury deciding whether a Detroit man should be found guilty of murdering synagogue president Samantha Woll will return to deliberations on Monday after telling the judge on Friday that they are split on whether they want to convict or acquit after nearly two days of discussions...

Hmmm...
I'm not surprised as I myself had doubts

But I didn't follow the trial in a detailed way
I hurry to say.

But one question bothers me.
Why would a burglar kill?

Hindsight is always 20-20, but I too had some doubts...primarily based on the lack of blood found on the jacket. Granted it had been washed, but by LE accounts, the crime scene inside the condo was gruesome with a large amount of blood. I would have thought there would have been more evidence of blood found on the jacket with the violent nature of the attack (imo).

Also,
- The screams...
Sure, a witness later said something about some protests in the street nearby,
but a protest at night?

-the open door...
It was insinuated the victim was waiting for somebody...

- the opening of the back door...

IDK
As I said I was not following this trial in detail
so I possibly missed vital info.

But this investigation was weird from the start.

Well, that was my impression.

To end,
I asked a question about a burglar killing.
In my country, in Europe,
burglars are burglars - not murderers.

They move like ghosts, soundlessly and they
steal - not kill.

I cannot remember a case described in Media when a burglar/thief attacked/killed somebody.

But then,
burglars usually observe the houses and enter when the houses are empty.

So,
I will wait for the verdict.
The Jury will decide.

It is very strange. Maybe he tried several doors and hers was open, and he didnt expect to come across her on the first floor. Most bedrooms are upstairs. Maybe she woke up and grabbed a knife for protection and he didn’t just run, but harmed her as he was afraid of being identified? Odd that he didn’t then rob her. But I do still have questions!

Home invasion burglaries can be incredibly deadly, both to the residents and the burglars.

Some residents will protect their domicile, and some burglars have a taste for violence, sexual assault, and murder.

He was the only activity recorded by her motion detector.

There was no one else there!

But it recorded activity, not any particular individual on camera, right? So it recorded someone in her house at that time…

Regarding the ex-boyfriend, despite his early ‘admission’ that he harmed her, surely his phone data would have proven he was nowhere near her home during the time the murderer entered her residence?

"It is not known which counts the jurors are deadlocked on
as they decide the fate of Michael Jackson-Bolanos,
who is accused in the fatal stabbing
of a beloved synagogue leader and political activist
whose murder devastated the metro Detroit Jewish community
and continues to torment her family.

Woll's parents and loved ones
appeared visibly frustrated
as Wayne County Circuit Judge Margaret Van Houten took the bench
and said the jury indicated it was deadlocked.

She instructed the jury to go back into deliberations Monday morning
to try and reach a unanimous verdict.

At trial,
the defense argued repeatedly
that Jackson-Bolanos was in the wrong place at the wrong time,
and that the victim's brutal stabbing death was
a 'crime of passion'
carried out by someone who wanted her dead.

His lawyer also argued to the jury
that this was not a robbery as the prosecution maintains,
noting nothing was taken from her home.

The prosecution, however,
called the defendant a serial liar
and urged the jury not to believe him,
maintaining that Jackson-Bolanos lied to police at least 40 times,
and fled because he feared getting caught for the killing."
