Another backup had messages from Feb. 2010 until Feb. 2012. Messages regularly reference "Dell" or "Dellen," Falconer says.

Back at the Dellen Millard/Mark Smich murder trial. Expecting a big, and long, day from forensic officer who analyzed 3 of Millard's computers.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
Feb 2010 to Feb 2012 is the time span Falconer was looking at in the back up version of one #Millard iphone. Looks like #Millard upgraded his phone during that point and transferred info from the old device. #LauraBabcock

Liam Casey‏Verified account @liamdevlincasey 1m1 minute ago
Det. Sgt. Jim Falconer slowly going through backup data of phones found on Dellen Millard's computer. Mostly innocuous messages referencing Dell or Dellen. #laurababcock

We're now looking at another iPhone backup overview. Here, the iPhone has changed to an iPhone 4S.
by Adam Carter 9:58 AM

Are there other accounts anyone would like me to add from Twitter? Marianna Boucher isn't active and we know Shannon Martin is away, so I'm just covering Liam Casey and Lisa Hepfner so far. Adam Carter's tweets are exactly the same as the blog.

SMS messages on this phone ranged from Feb. 2010 to Feb. 2013. There are numerous references to "Dell" or "Dellen" on it.
by Adam Carter 9:59 AM

Now we're looking at an overview for a device called "Mark's iPad."
by Adam Carter 10:00 AM

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
The new Dell's iPhone is a version "4s." Next device Feb 2010 to 2013; an extra year of text messages. "Nothing to indicate anyone else was using the device," Falconer says.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 24s24 seconds ago
The next backup is also associated with the Apple iTunes account dell.millard at hotmail.com. It had no cell phone number associated with it, but a sim card had been used, Falconer found. #LauraBabcock

Crown Ken Lockhardt is doing the examination in chief, here.
by Adam Carter 10:02 AM

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 8s8 seconds ago
The latest device, with a missing SIM card and no phone number is named "Mark's iPad" Falconer says. He's reading the serial number for the device. We have heard it's the same device given to #LauraBabcock by her ex boyfriend Shawn Lerner.

The new Dell's iPhone is a version "4s." Next device Feb 2010 to 2013; an extra year of text messages. "Nothing to indicate anyone else was using the device," Falconer says.

So DM can't say someone "borrowed his phone" and sent incriminating texts, and he is an innocent dupe.

Though it's named "Mark's iPad," the email associated with the Apple ID is dell.millard at hotmail.com.
by Adam Carter 10:03 AM

Falconer says the first backup of this iPad happened on July 4, 2012, 10:43 a.m. That's around the time the Crown alleges Babcock was killed.
by Adam Carter 10:05 AM

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 39s39 seconds ago
The file creation date is findable, Falconer says; "The first time this iPad was backed up, was July 4 2012, 10:43am." Right about when the crown alleges #LauraBabcock was killed.

Info on the iPad came from July 2012 to Jan. 2013, in the form of Skype calls, messaging, and iMessages.
by Adam Carter 10:06 AM

The presentation says both Mark Smich and his then-girlfriend Marlena Meneses were using the iPad at that time.
by Adam Carter 10:07 AM

Falconer says there was data on the backup that came from before July 4, and that came from other people who weren't Smich or Meneses.
by Adam Carter 10:08 AM

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 3s3 seconds ago
The communication, Skype & messaging, on the iPad is between July 4 2012 and May 2013. Last backup Jan 2013. Data on the iPad preceded July 4 2012, Falconer found, used by someone other than Mark #Smich and his girlfriend Marlena Meneses, who used it from then on, he says.

So DM can't say someone "borrowed his phone" and sent incriminating texts, and he is an innocent dupe.

I think it's more to prove that it's his phone that was examined and not someone else's.

Lockhardt says we're "going to examine the usage of this iPad much more closely" later on.
by Adam Carter 10:09 AM

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 37s37 seconds ago
Crown says we will focus on the extraction of information from this iPad. Falconer focused on Skype activity, pictures taken, instant messages, From July 2012 to Jan 2013 (Not May as I mistweeted earlier)

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 5s5 seconds ago
More
The Skype users are typically "Marlena" and "Mark" and "Mary.Smich", Falconer says. Also chats with Dellen #Millard.

Falconer says there were Skype accounts on the iPad with usernames Marlena.mark1 and Marlena&Mark.
by Adam Carter 10:11 AM

While Falconer is testifying, Millard is sitting at a table taking notes on a computer.
by Adam Carter 10:13 AM

Again, this is all just the "introduction phase" to this data. We'll be going way deeper today as this progresses.
by Adam Carter 10:15 AM

Now looking at another iPhone backup. This one has the owner name "Andrew's iPhone" and has a michalski_andrew at hotmail.com apple ID.
by Adam Carter 10:16 AM

It was also connected to Michalski's Facebook account.

Forensic officer talks about "Mark's iPad" -- first connected to Dellen Millard's computer on July 4, 2012 at 10:43 a.m. Crown alleges Laura Babcock was killed on either July 3 or 4, 2012.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
Now another phone backup from another computer seized by police from Dellen #Millard's home. This computer was in the basement, with Andrew Michelski Facebook and gaming profile. Phone had a (416) number attached to it. "Andrew's iPhone."

The messages from this backup range from March 2011 to Jan. 2013. They reference "Andrew, Kowalski, or chalski."
by Adam Carter 10:19 AM

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 42s42 seconds ago
March 2011 to Jan 2013 -- "Andrew," "Kowalski," "Michelski" seemed to be the names the user went by. #LauraBabcock

Now looking at another iPhone backup, coming from the laptop found in the bedroom at Millard's home. The owner name is "Rubix's iPhone."
by Adam Carter 10:20 AM

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 39s39 seconds ago
Next the laptop from the upstairs (blue) bedroom at 5 Maple Gate Court. "Rubix" is the nickname associated with it. You can see it to the left of the big screen in this photo.

The apple ID is "sweet_chiquita8t9@hotmail.com." Here, there are references to "Tina/Christina/Chris." This backup has messages from August 2012 to March 2013.
by Adam Carter 10:22 AM

Liam Casey‏Verified account @liamdevlincasey 1m1 minute ago
As forensic officer slowly goes through device ID's, Dellen Millard is scrolling through a bunch photos on his laptop.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 46s46 seconds ago
The laptop and backup had associated salutations, "Tina, Christina, Chris." Court has heard that Dellen #Millard's girlfriend was Christina Noudga.

I think we are in for some very interesting messages coming into evidence!!

We're now getting an explanation of various file types we'll see. SMS messages (texts), MMS messages (multimedia texts) chat or iMessages (coming from message services), JPEGs (picture files), PNGs (screen captures), MOVs (movie files), contacts, notes, and calendars.

Millard is now looking at screen captures of messages from backups found on devices from his home on a laptop.
by Adam Carter 10:26 AM

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
Mark #Smich is furiously typing at a computer during this Falconer explanation of modern communication methods. #Millard has hand in chin. Blowing air in and out of cheeks. Looks bored.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 22s22 seconds ago
Mark #Smich's mother hasn't returned to court since last Friday (when she decided to attack our camera with her purse).

Falconer is now explaining what each one of those file types is.

Sounds like a bored kid in a waiting room, lol. And good on Lisa for calling out MS's mom's antics

I think we are in for some very interesting messages coming into evidence!!

I hope so. I still haven't seen much to connect Smich to the actual murder. Sure, its pretty evident that he was involved in the disposal of the body, and that he took or was given the iPad by Millard (it was registered to Millards apple ID).

"There was a huge amount of data that was necessary to review," Falconer says, adding there was a team of five people going over it. "It took them several months to do it."
by Adam Carter 10:31 AM

Liam Casey‏Verified account @liamdevlincasey 54s54 seconds ago
Forensic officer says a team of 5 investigators reviewed all the data found on devices seized at Dellen Millard's home. Took that team months to review it all.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 8s8 seconds ago
iPhone and ipad backups were two sources of relevant information. Also, there were storage folders on a computer with pictures and videos. "Dell's hard" had pictures with 100s of subfolders. Some of them of particular interest to police. #Millard #LauraBabcock

Falconer is now giving an overview of storage folders from computers found at Millard's home. They had a lot of photos and videos, he says.
