Dungey now moving on to Babcock's "lifestyle."
by Adam Carter 10:53 AM

"Laura Babcock was a very intelligent woman. She was bubbly. She liked people. As her father stated, when she came into a room, she just took over ... she was a lovely young woman, or is a lovely young woman, she's missing. We don't know where she is," Dungey says.

Let's get some reality to life, Dungey says. Has to address the lifestyle of #LauraBabcock. The crown is going to say she was vulnerable, and more susceptible to Mr #Millard, Dungey says.

Dungey says nothing was ever done with lots of random projects of Millard. "$25,000 didn't mean anything to him," Dungey says.
by Adam Carter 10:49 AM

Dungey says if Millard was going to get the incinerator to burn Babcock, they wouldn't have spent the time building the trailer for the incinerator. "Do the job. Kill her, burn her and get it over with," Dungey says, pounding on the lectern in front of him.
by Adam Carter 10:50 AM

He also says it would have been done on the side, and not on the company books.
by Adam Carter 10:50 AM

Important points for him to make since the crown can't talk about this not being his only plan to dispose of someone.

"It borders on stupidity, this theory," Dungey says.
by Adam Carter 10:51 AM

Dungey is now moving on to the 32 calibre gun we've seen photos of. He says there was no evidence Babcock was shot, or a gun was ever used. "What relevance was this?" Dungey says, adding that the Crown will use that to prove "planning and deliberation."
by Adam Carter 10:52 AM

"Anything is possible with life, but lets get some reality with life," Dungey says.
by Adam Carter 10:52 AM

Exactly. If there were no gun the crown would bring in a sales person from Wal-Mart to testify how Dell bought a set of kitchen knives back in May.

A subpoena is a legal document with legal implications. If you don't show up to testify, you can be arrested.

This obviously is only if she was subpoenaed.

That is if they are enforceable overseas. I am no expert on this. It's only something I wondered about. Hopefully the Crown will address it.

I'm interested to hear their closing because so far I think Dungey is doing a good job for his client. MOO

No wonder he is an experienced lawyer. imho, he probably hid many evidences in legal disputes for this trial too. No missions, etc.

Dungey says what happened with her mental health history and problems is "very tragic."
by Adam Carter 10:54 AM

Dungey now saying it was "very difficult" for Babcock's parents to deal with the problems she was dealing with. He says they seem like very nice people.

She WAS a lovely young woman... Another slip..

Lisa Hepfner‏@HefCHCHNews

Laura Babcock was smart, beautiful, bubbly... Dungey is describing. "But things didn't work out." She had mental problems "that kept accelerating and accelerating," Dungey says. People tried to help, including her parents. I think they're nice people, Dungey says

See DM, THIS is how you speak about a victim and their family.
Maybe take pointers for the next trial.
I'm sure many are going to remember DM's performance. There was no need to tear them or Laura apart. MOO

It's all #Millard's money, but Dungey has to speak about it because his client #Smich is jointly charged. Money meant nothing to Millard, he says.

If #Millard got an incinerator to burn #LauraBabcock, you wouldn't spend a week building a trailer for it. Does that make any sense? It's in broad daylight, #Dungey says. "It's not hidden away." We even have photos of them building that trailer.

BBM But MS was always desperate for money and he clung to the source of it, DM. MS was always available to do DM's bidding and expected to be taken care of for his help, IMO.

All MOO

She was always trying to figure out what was wrong, Dungey says, describing some of the episodes court heard of #LauraBabcock. "The pain was so great, she was trying to relieve it. This is a very sad story about this young woman," Dungey says.

She unfortunately meets this friend Julia who brings her into the escort business and she lives with Julia in Yorkville, Dungey says. What women do in the escort business, they do. They make a lot of money, he says. "It's unlimited, how much men would spend."

She wasn't ashamed, she was trying to get her friends to go into the escort business with her. It's a dangerous business. Lots of shady characters, Dungey says.

I can respect your opinions, but if you actually think that Laura is alive, then you lose all credibility with me, and probably others as well. Whether “dell”did it or not, Laura is not alive, and its ridiculous to think so. IMO.

Lisa Hepfner‏@HefCHCHNews

On her very first date, we hear that #LauraBabcock stays the night with her client, "completely putting herself at risk," Dungey says. 'this was her lifestyle. For some reason she constantly puts herself at risk."

"Something was eating away at her," Dungey says, saying she was cutting herself, and banging her head. "She was doing these things to relieve the pain she had in her mind. "This is a very sad story of this young woman. The very sad story is she didn't get the help she needed from doctors."
by Adam Carter 10:56 AM

Dungey now talking about Babcock's time as an escort. "There's a lot of money to be made in that business," Dungey says.
by Adam Carter 10:57 AM

Dungey says Babcock went into the business "wide eyed and open .. but the reality is this. This is a very risky, dangerous business ... there are a lot of shady characters in the business."
