He's calling back to previous testimony, saying Babcock was "putting herself at risk," in one of the "riskiest businesses" as you can get into, "filled with shady characters."

Smich is watching the jury right now as his lawyer addresses them.

Dungey is now talking about Babcock getting cocaine as a tip. "And she's young and she foolishly takes it," Dungey says, adding that Babcock became addicted to it.

Hundreds of thousands of women go missing every year, Dungey says. #LauraBabcock's friends didn't want to go into the business, with the "sketchy" men Babcock was hanging out with, he says.

I can respect your opinions, but if you actually think that Laura is alive, then you lose all credibility with me, and probably others as well. Whether “dell”did it or not, Laura is not alive, and its ridiculous to think so. IMO.

No it's not. It's quite possible.

A subpoena is a legal document with legal implications. If you don't show up to testify, you can be arrested.

This obviously is only if she was subpoenaed.

They made her a special non-legal subpoena that said “Christina. Please be in court and prepared to testify on November 28. C U next Tuesday.”

"We've got all these factors to consider when looking at her lifestyle as a woman who went missing," Dungey says.
by Adam Carter 11:01 AM

Dungey suggesting Babcock was saving up money "to take off."

These guys give her tips, or they give her cocaine. They give her cocaine! Then she becomes addicted to it, Dungey says. "She's taking it every day."

All these factors to consider, looking at her lifestyle, Dungey says. Dealing with drugs, people in the drug business. Reminds jury of Jessica Trevors, who invited #LauraBabcock to stay with her instead of a park bench. Babcock had $4,000. What was she saving for?

Lisa Hepfner‏@HefCHCHNews

No one understood her mental problems. She felt alone, Dungey says of #LauraBabcock. Was she trying to get away? Again, a woman with $4,000 sleeping in a park is very vulnerable, he says.

Ya Dungey, Babcock had $4k. Why was there only $1k in DM's closing. Where's the rest of the money?

"No one could understand her mental problems. She felt alone, isolated. Was she saving up her money to try to get away from it all?" Dungey asks. "No one knows."

Dungey says in other evidence court heard Babcock was going to Montreal and Vegas "for work." "There are so many variables here ladies and gentlemen, for this young woman to go missing. So many possibilities for what happened."

The rational reason for the incinerator was to get rid of pets, Dungey says. Otherwise they wouldn't have followed rules like getting a proper propane tank installed. "It borders on stupidity theory!"

I have respect for TD as a lawyer, however, can someone please clue me in as to why he seems to be defending DM in his close? He is making good points for his client, but why DM? TIA

Dungey says he's now turning to other "circumstantial evidence."
by Adam Carter 11:06 AM

He's referring to the red bag and the iPad.
by Adam Carter 11:06 AM

Dungey says both of those things were given to Smich by Millard.

I'm feeling the same way here. The only thing I can think of is the pet cremation business is the narrative he's trying to get the jury to believe is what MS thinks the incinerator is for. Moo

Babcock was going off to meet two guys at the beginning of July, wanting to establish her own escort business. "She's going somewhere. She's doing something." Leaves dog at parents, says she's going to Montreal for work. Then Vegas. Or Disney. For work, Dungey says.

So many possibilities as to what might have happened, Dungey says. #LauraBabcock put herself in such a vulnerable position.

The bag and the iPad that belonged to #LauraBabcock, those were given to #Smich by #Millard, Dungey says.

Oh my goodness, please, hahaha :laughing:

Is this the way Dungey has to frame it?

To my way of thinking, if I was a juror, his backing up of the arguments of the now disliked Millard would discredit him in my eyes. I mean, I can listen to him arguing no evidence against his client, but linking his train to DM's unbelievable storylines ...well I don't know....seems like it's a wrong move (but maybe there was some kind of agreement between defense teams?) or maybe I am too idealistic to be a lawyer lol
