Prince Doesn't Have a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Here's Why

By Willian Avila

News of a beloved celebrity's death often brings heartbroken fans from far and wide to the Hollywood Walk of Fame to pay tribute to a talent lost.

But when news spread of Prince's sudden death, there was no star on the world-famous sidewalk to gather around. That's because the legendary pop artist had turned down the opportunity, as so many elite and influential figures had not, to have his name monumentalized along the Hollywood corridor...

Prince: Grieving an artist’s loss in the Purple Rain

Adam Graham, The Detroit News 10:07 a.m. EDT April 23, 2016

The loss of Prince, and how we as a culture mourn the death of our most celebrated performers says a lot about us

It usually starts with a report from TMZ that we all hope is false. It’s just TMZ, right? But it’s time we start learning TMZ is rarely wrong in these instances.

Hopeful denial then gives way to begrudging acceptance as more news reports roll in. Then come the flood of tributes and remembrances. It’s a hyper-speed version of the seven stages of grief, remixed for our digital age.

The news of Prince’s death hit with a wallop early Thursday afternoon, casting a purple haze over the week that we’re still living inside. This one hurt, and it’s going to continue to hurt. Prince was a titan, and he wasn’t supposed to go this early...

Maybe they could do one posthumously??

Maybe they could do one posthumously??

I imagine someone will or I certainly hope someone does :star::praying:

He certainly deserves one :guitar::star2::goldstar:

Which as the article states would means about 5 years from now.

All the purple lights around the world in places is amazing. HOw do they do it so fast? I wonder.

Monuments have installed sophisticated lighting. I think this started happening a lot more after New York's remembrance of the 911 tragedy with the two beams of light that extend to infinity at the World Trade Center site every September since 2001. - Since then it seems to have become a way to express sorrow, celebration, and remembrance collectively across the globe which is then transmitted instantaneously though all of the evolving forms of media. It is a spectacular and grand collective gesture.

Especially for the purple one! I don't know of anyone else in modern times who associated themselves with a special color like Prince did...

Maybe they could do one posthumously??

Yes!!!

Q: Can someone who is deceased be nominated?
A: Yes. One posthumous award is given each year.

Q: Can someone who is deceased be nominated for a star immediately?
A: No. A posthumous nomination has a five year waiting period.

Q: Is posthumous waiting period 5 years after the date of their death?
A: Yes. It is a five year waiting period after death.

The only tribute that I like so far. I really do not care to hear anyone else try to sing Purple Rain, while I like Adam Levine ...it was out of his jonre

This guy is mainly instrumental Violin.
