I found this articles perspective to be realistic, centering, and kind. As musicians, friends, and fans come to acceptance theres no doubt that they will all find a way to show their love for the man, and to honor Princes astonishing accomplishments. After all, theres no lacking for opportunity with the myriad of award shows, world wide, and individual performances to come this year.
After watching the replay of the tribute this week, I think that Questlove, Madonna, and Stevie Wonder clearly all looked lost, and seemed and sounded shaky, holding back the tears. --So, I found myself moved by it just for the effort and for not being perfect. Its just way too soon for anyone to pull off a full throttle tribute. -imo...
Madonnas Purple Perfect Prince Tribute
Madonna performed a love song for Prince, and it wasnt about whos the most talented performer on Earth, or whos the best (there are no bests in subjective mediums), or who can prove theyre the right person to honor a dead man. No one wins that prize. The best we can do is appreciate the gifts Prince left us and allow people to show their love and share their memories and keep his spirit alive. Thats what Madonna did on the BBMAs, and she did it simply, elegantly, and pure of heart.
