And the jury is coming back..#Magnotta

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 2m2 minutes ago
Back with the witness, Bouthillier asks whether Allard knew what #Magnotta was upset about when sending that email to the Sun.

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 2m2 minutes ago
#Magnotta sent email to British journo Alex West because he was mad. was thrown out of hotel because of him, Allard said

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 3m3 minutes ago
Allard didn't ask why #Magnotta didn't send email directly to West but rather to Sun general email address. Took 2 days + to do it

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 2m2 minutes ago
Allard said #Magnotta was upset at being bothered, worried @AlexWesty was going to write a story about their encounter.

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 2m2 minutes ago
#Magnotta used the name John Kilbride, victim of Brit serial killer. He used it cause story he knew, just had name in head, Allard says

salimah shivji ‏@salimah_shivji · 51s51 seconds ago
#Magnotta chose to use name John Kilbride, child victim of serial killers, because was familiar with story, #Magnotta felt like victim too.

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 1m1 minute ago
#Magnotta was very used to making up email addresses, Allard said. Did the same with Kilbride. M said it was name of victim, like him

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 52s53 seconds ago
I agree that it's not the best way to be left alone, Allard said. But it wasn't even his real name, crown says. #Magnotta

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 44s45 seconds ago
Agree tone is aggressive, arrogant, threatening, degrading? Yes, totally, Allard says. #Magnotta

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 29s30 seconds ago
Fun watching people trying to gather evidence but can't catch me, #Magnotta wrote in email. He told Allard it was a stupid email

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 28s28 seconds ago
#Magnotta told Allard he wasn't writing that to describe anything he was planning. It's very theatrical, she said

salimah shivji ‏@salimah_shivji · 38s39 seconds ago
Allard repeats email's aim was to scare reporter into not writing an article, into leaving him alone. #Magnotta said he didn't plan to kill.

I think he wrote the email because after 2 days he was pissed off that no one HAD written a story about him yet. He was going to make sure they did.

So did they?

MOO

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 1m1 minute ago
#Magnotta didn't tell Allard where he was when he wrote the email or why the address was @uk.co

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 3m3 minutes ago
#Magnotta had fascination with Sharon Stone, who starred in Basic Instinct. Character was Catherine Trammel

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 2m2 minutes ago
Manny is name of Catherine Trammel's husband in movie Basic Instinct. Allard didn't know that #Magnotta

suemontgomery @MontgomerySue · 2m 2 minutes ago
The screwdriver used to stab Lin Jun was painted silver, like the ice pick in the movie Basic Instinct #Magnotta

Couronne interroge sur Allard sur les différences entre la version qu'elle a eue et celle obtenue par le psy Joel Watts. #Magnotta

Translation: Crown questions Allard about the differences between her version and that of psychiatrist Joel Watts

François Messier ‏@MessierSRC · 3m3 minutes ago
Dans la version de #Magnotta à Watts, Manny est très présent lors du crime; il l'est beaucoup moins dans la version qu'il m'a donnée -Allard

Translation: In the version #Magnotta told Watts, Manny is very present during the crime; it is much less in the version he gave me -Allard

François Messier ‏@MessierSRC · 4m4 minutes ago
Dans la version à Watts, #Magnotta dit que c'est Manny qui lui a demandé de ligoter Lin Jun, lui aurait demander de regarder dehors -Allard

Translation: In the version he told Watts, #Magnotta says it's Manny who asked him to tie up Lin Jun, would ask him to look out -Allard

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 5m5 minutes ago
Manny became more present in #Magnotta's story, was in Montreal, spoke on phone, but didn't play active role, Allard says. Like he was there

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 5m5 minutes ago
We're getting to the differences between the information #Magnotta gave Allard and to Dr. Watts, the other psych who examined him.

salimah shivji ‏@salimah_shivji · 4m4 minutes ago
In Dr. Watts report, who also evaluated #Magnotta, there's more talk of Manny. Manny was present at time of killing, says that report.

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 4m4 minutes ago
#Magnotta told Watts it was Manny who told him to kill Lin.

suemontgomery ‏@MontgomerySue · 3m3 minutes ago
Dear followers, I must leave you for today. But for Eng tweets of #magnotta trial, follow my colleague @salimah_shivji I'm back tomorrow

Allard n'a pas confronté #Magnotta sur le fait que sa version des évènements à Berlin diffère de celle de Frank Rubert

Translation: Allard has not faced #Magnotta the fact that his version of events differs from that of Berlin Frank Rubert

François Messier ‏@MessierSRC · 7m7 minutes ago
#Magnotta dit avoir vu sa photo dans un journal allemand que lisait Rubert; Rubert dit avoir vu la photo sans qu'il ne soit là

Translation: Magnotta said he saw his picture in a German newspaper that read Rubert ; Rubert said he saw the photo without it being there

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 4m4 minutes ago
Allard: #Magnotta knew what he did. He remembers. But he wasn't preoccupied with being found by police (proof: behaviour while cleaning).

François Messier ‏@MessierSRC · 5m5 minutes ago
Les photos de Lin Jun sur l'ordi de #Magnotta ont été mises à la corbeille le 1er juin 2012. Mais Allard ne l'a pas interrogé là-dessus

Translation: Pictures of Lin Jun on the computer of #Magnotta were deleted on 1 June 2012. But Allard has not asked about it

salimah shivji ‏@salimah_shivji · 7m7 minutes ago
Allard: #Magnotta knew what he did in Montreal (to Lin) but he was not preoccupied with police searching for him.

salimah shivji ‏@salimah_shivji · 2m2 minutes ago
Crown to Allard: Maybe #Magnotta didn't think he would be caught. On that, trial takes mid-aft break. Crown thinks almost done with witness.

John Kilbrade was a victim of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. Ian Brady was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic whilst in prison, but later (in 2013) claimed that he'd faked it all along and he wanted to be moved back to prison. The doctors and Judge disagreed, and ruled that he was still mentally ill and must stay in the psychiatric hospital.

Marjorie Wallace, head of mental health charity Sane, says "the difficulty lies in the lack of precision in diagnosis". She notes Moors Murderer Ian Brady's case as a particularly vexing example.

"As seems the case with Brady, the mental illness is compounded by severe personality disorder, which can make a person highly devious and convincing."

Roger Graef, a visiting professor at the Mannheim Centre for Criminology agrees. Whilst feigning mental illness is extremely difficult for most, "really smart people understand the game and play it", he says.

"For people like Brady, it's very hard to tell."

The 75-year-old argued that he was not suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and had never been mentally ill since he was jailed for life in 1966. He claimed he was sectioned only after pretending to be psychotic, believing life would be better in hospital than in jail. However, the judge-led panel disagreed.

"The tribunal has concluded that Mr Ian Stewart Brady continues to suffer from a mental disorder which is of a nature and degree which makes it appropriate for him to continue to receive medical treatment and that it is necessary for his health and safety and for the protection of other persons that he should receive such treatment in hospital and that appropriate medical treatment is available for him," said Judge Robert Atherton.

Allard says the two don't have the same way of working. In Watts' report, #Magnotta spoke much more about "Manny."

I bloomin knew it! I smelt Allard all over that spy story as soon as I read it.

I think LM came up with the part about how he put JL's hands in the fridge "because they had germs on them" all by himself though

Exactly. I am so confused why more hasn't been shown from the crown On all his online crap he has pumped out over the years.
And as you say, it would be so interesting to see what he was searching days leading up to the murder, during and immediately after.

IMOO,

He had two laptops. One went into the trash.
He brought one with him to Europe. It was found at his back-up hotel room.
I'd sasume that LE did a search to split itm to atoms.

Pretty sure it's Murder 101 to know that if you need to preserve body parts for mailing while you step out to buy boxes, then have to step back out to return them when you realize they are too small, that you would put said body parts in a refrigerated unit.

See now that's only LOGICAL. And if I SMDH over any more of this absurd testimony I'm going to give myself a seizure. :notgood:

Crown has no more questions for Dr. Allard. #Magnotta defence lawyer now re-examining the witness, who has been on stand the longest so far.

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 10m10 minutes ago
Allard confirms the relationship between #Magnotta and Ron lasted 1.5 years, ended poorly some years prior to the crime.

salimah shivji ‏@salimah_shivji · 9m9 minutes ago
Defence asks why Allard didn't speak with #Magnotta 's ex-boyfriend, Ron. She says relationship ended poorly, a few years before crime.

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 7m7 minutes ago
Talking about the visit to hospital weeks before killing, Allard says #Magnotta told her we was suffering, hearing voices and wanted help.

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 6m6 minutes ago
Once they started talking about psychiatric issues, #Magnotta told doctors his psychosis was on account of drug use, which wasn't true.

amy minsky @amyminsky · 7m 7 minutes ago
Justice Cournoyer reminds Leclair this is not a new examination. His questions here have to arise form something brought up during x-exam.

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 4m4 minutes ago
Allard: #Magnotta said he wasn't honest with the doctors because he was worried they'd hospitalize and prevent him from going to Paris.

salimah shivji ‏@salimah_shivji · 1m1 minute ago
Allard: For me, it's clear - the details do not correspond with a psychosis related to drug use. #Magnotta

amy minsky @amyminsky · 30s 30 seconds ago
Allard says no way #Magnotta was in a substance-induced psychotic state. She says the state lasted too long.

salimah shivji ‏@salimah_shivji · 33s33 seconds ago
Allard stresses logic can't be imposed on patients suffering from schizophrenia. Says #Magnotta sick before & after crime, psychosis

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 54s54 seconds ago
After a week on the stand, Allard is set free. The next witness is Dr. Watts, who accompanied #Magnotta on extradition flight.

amy minsky ‏@amyminsky · 1m1 minute ago
Lelcair says he has a matter to discuss first though, so the jury is excused for the day and we go under pub ban. #Magnotta

So Dr. Watts is being called as a defense witness? :waitasec:

I am almost expecting this witness to stand up and start screaming "I DON'T KNOW! I DIDN'T ASK! HE DIDN'T SAY! PSYCHOSIS OK?!?! PSYCHOSIS!!! GEEZ!"
... or maybe it's just me?

Also, these breaks are getting ridiculous.

ETA: Oh, she's done? WOO! :happydance:

That was just awful... I was really trying to give Allard the benefit of the doubt all along, but in the end I have to think that the woman just has no scruples at all.

I just realised, the prosecution never asked her about the trailer?

Can someone explain to me why LM, a known escort who had clients and got clients from escort websites for sex, would advertise on Craigslist looking for men who were into S&M? For free? He was looking for men to participate in S&M and bondage for "fun"? When he claims he was doing this in his profession? He obviously never really had sex with either of them because even though he claims he taped the sex, it was not there on the camera. For what reason would he do this? Other than to find a man online to murder for his "snuff film"?

Oh I know Dr. Allard. Do not try to apply logic to LM because he was in a psychosis. :banghead:

There has to be a reason why none of his internet history or recent sites visited before and after the murder is coming out at this trial. The Crown can't even suggest that there was or wasn't a record of him using Craigslist where he claims he met these men.

MOO

What's up with that? If we go back to the beginning, while the jury was shown the videos, including the trailer, was it clarified to them that it was done a couple of weeks before the murder? I really don't remember that being pointed out. Nor the posts by various aliases hyping the "film" before it was made.

I think its pretty obvious that LM is just a guy that been fascinated by serial killers for a long time. His infatuation with Holmolka, his email to West is signed with the name of a serial killers victim, and a ton borrowed from Basic Instinct. The music he chose for the video (though he said he didn't remember why) was from the movie American Psycho, Paul & Karla's favourite movie.
