Maher: Intrepid online sleuths tracked mutilation murder suspect Magnotta for months

In January of 2011, they received an anonymous message identifying the kitten killer as Luka Magnotta, and saying, falsely, that he lived in West Hollywood. They believe Magnotta — now being sought on a global warrant as the suspect in the brutal murder and mutilation of a Chinese college student in Montreal — tipped them off.

"It was him," said Baudi, a female member of the Facebook group. "He wants the attention. We're doing exactly what he wants."

"It's been a cat-and-mouse game with him," said John, another group member. "He wants us to chase after him. So he leaves information, little clues, that lead us to him."

"We really honestly thought that if we gave police information on his location that he would be apprehended," says Baudi. "We thought that if he wasn't apprehended he would move on to humans. We were very public about that. It's not like we were obsessed but we were determined to get him apprehended. Spending all night going down Google Streetview wasn't out of the question."

Another group member, Alex, contacted a psychiatric facility where Magnotta was previously resident.

that's okay, I was able to access it earlier, I just didn't read every post, although from what I did read, those people are dedicated and awesome with the research. I'm not afraid of using my facebook to view the group.

I think it is VERY likely he went there. Easy to blend in, perhaps make some $$, shack up with someone, etc.

I think that is him too.. He is creating new identities faster than we can speak. That in itself, should be something that could be tracked. How many new identities can subscribe to youtube in one day from the same IP address? Wish I had the tools to go after that angle. :banghead:

I'm curious is anyone knows about the credibility of this news source, Liberation? Is this a credible MSM source, or more along the lines of an enquirer type paper?

Any WS'rs familiar with this news source to give us their opinion? I've never heard of it, and since we often take our "facts" based on known credible journalism, or those who poorly vet their sources, I'm hoping someone has some insight on this source.

That is the FB Group For Great Justice...the ones tracking him for 2 years...
the named people the interviewed are the admins of the group and are pretty amazing...

he can easily set them up with one of the zillions of free proxies where you go to the proxy website, type in the url and go from there....takes no extra effort at all....

at least his hands are busy.........TYPING.... :what:

With TOR a simple click of the mouse and you get another IP address. TOR is routed through 3 proxies (with encryption along the way except for the last hop) which would make it really difficult if not impossible for LE to trace him. That's why this nob is posting on youtube.

Also if you notice his Beavis Butthead account had no posts from between approx 9pm est to 5pm est time. Could give an indication as to what time zone he is in.

I know there are tons of weirdos pretending to be him right now, but those GLA posts sound legit. I say that mainly because he's so defensive about LM being poor...one of the interviews he did (was it with Naked News??) about being an escort he made sure to talk about his high-class life and the post he did about his family he talks about how now he's got a nice condo, a nice car, etc. Just my opinion.

It is in looking at his past that we may be able to determine a direction to those current and future moves, with an added bonus for LE ... whatever they don't have on him already, they may find with all the info proved by online sleuthers.

I'm pretty sure the building management would have been provided contact information for crime-scene cleanup companies. IMO, they chose not to pay the $$ associated with the task.
