Lots to absorb in this article - thanks for posting BUF. One snippet:

Though many people on High Street and at the methadone clinics knew Weldon or the women, how Weldon came to meet the women remained a mystery.

There is one spot near Page Boulevard, however, where Weldon and all three of the women found dead on his property were familiar faces. Viraj Mahida, owner of Cottage Street Liquors, said Weldon patronized his store daily and the women found dead were regular customers. Weldon stopped in several times a day, Mahida said, to buy Natural Ice beer by the can, often with the woman whom he would later be accused of kidnapping and beating. Ryans came in for Arbor Mist wines; Escalante bought cigarettes. Both sometimes came in with Weldon, Mahida said. Lyden, too, came into the store, but never with Weldon.

A lawyer representing accused kidnapper Stewart Weldon has won approval to spend $15,000 in state funds to hire an investigator, psychiatrist and private medical examiner.

Judge William Mazanec III approved defense motions to hire three outside experts during a pretrial hearing Friday in Springfield District Court.

If convicted, Weldon faces between 25 years and life in prison, Murphy noted in a motion for funds, without explaining why a defendant in a rape and kidnapping case needed to hire a private medical examiner.

Autopsy results not expected until mid-July for women's remains found in Springfield home of Stewart Weldon

In a Wednesday filing seeking to extend the impoundment of certain portions of court documents related to the case, Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Dunphy Farris wrote: "No autopsy report has been issued to the Hampden District Attorney, and the cause and manner of deaths have not been released by the (Office of the Chief Medical Examiner). ... On information and belief, that information may not be available until mid-July 2018, or thereafter."

The search warrant was released with redacted parts.

Stewart Weldon tried to drag screaming woman into his home, newly released court records say

According to Brodeur, police received a 911 call at 7:40 p.m. on May 30 from a resident at 1333 Page Blvd. asking for assistance "because of a rancid smell." Police sources have told The Republican the caller was Weldon's mother, Constance White, who owns the home.

According to the affidavit, "Upon officers' arrival at 1333 Page Blvd., before entry was made into the home, [redacted] was obvious." The document says officers were given keys to the home, and they entered through the back door. A number of blacked out sentences follow.

The next paragraph begins, "Officers checked the remainder of the property and observed," but the lines that follow are also redacted. An additional paragraph begins, "Officers observed in front of a brown colored wood tool shed [redacted]."

.......

Investigators had turned up "a massive amount of evidence, [redacted]," Brodeur wrote, adding: "The search of the property has concluded and the systematic cataloging of the voluminous amounts of evidence needs to be assigned property tags and logged into the Springfield Police Department's evidence room."

The documents list the warrant's return date as June 13.

Just four days after his arrest, it turns out a second victim came forward, who told police she was targeted at random.

According to newly released court documents, the woman was walking on Main Street in the South End in February.

She told detectives she had recently had surgery and was limping, so Weldon pulled up and offered her a ride.

Weldon then allegedly refused to take her home and drove her to a home on Page Boulevard.

The police report reads: "Weldon exited the driver's side of the car and went around to the woman's side of the car and unlocked it, and dragged her from the passenger seat toward the house."

The police report continued: "A woman started to walk by from the house next door to the left of the suspect's residence. The woman was able to break free and ran to her and she gave her a ride back home."

This report was heavily redacted and these newly released court records reveal more about the investigation, including the 911 call that led police to 1333 Page Boulevard and what the search included.

Weldon did not appear in court for Tuesday's hearing, during which prosecutors indicated that a grand jury indictment on the kidnapping charges is expected in August.

Another pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Monday, August 27.

Woah!!!

Wow, looks like a lot of women got away or he let them go. So many say rape and strangulation. I wonder if he tried to kill them and they got away or they passed out and he thought they were dead? None of those came forward until he was arrested? Maybe they did report it but didn't know the guy so the police had no idea who to look for. I hope many of them had rape kits taken.
