This is not meant to detract from Achim, only bring to light a very similar case in Indiana that is getting very little coverage and help IN - IN - Kevin Nguyen, 25, Fort Wayne, 8 Dec 2018 I felt it would be of interest to anyone following this case or interested in the SFK angle.
Kevin has his own thread on Websleuths but thanks for the shout out for him. He was escorted out of a bar when temps were in the teens and went missing after being seen on video while on foot leaving the area.

I'm wondering why Achim was kicked out of the bar, anyone know what the reason was?

I’d love to know the reason, too. Was he angry at someone and got in an altercation? Was he flirting obnoxiously and bothering a girl/girls? Achim doesn’t sound like he’d do either of those, but we simply don’t know. It would seem someone there or a bouncer would be able to tell police/family what happened. If so, I wonder why it’s not being talked about more? All JMO, of course.

According to the only reporter closely following this(he went to school with Achim so he's personally invested), he was too drunk and that's why he was kicked out.

This reason always bothers me. The bar continued to serve him and then just tossed him out to figure his own way home. There should be more responsibility to get people you overserved home safely.

However, we also don't know if he was on more than alcohol that night.

This case seems most likely to be an accident or mental health situation. I say that based on his proximity to the water

Springfield police find no trace of Achim Bailey, 23-year-old missing since Jan. 13

Springfield police say they have exhausted all known leads in locating Achim Bailey, a man who has not been seen since the early morning hours of Jan. 13 as he left Samuel’s Tap & Table at the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Police spokesman Ryan Walsh said Bailey, 23, has made no contact with family or friends, there has been no activity with his bank account, and his cellphone has not been on since a few hours after he was last seen.

“Officers and detectives spent multiple days searching,” Walsh said. “The investigation continues but we have no further leads without help from the public.”

MISSING PERSON UPDATE: As a reporter, I truly believe in the importance of hearing from both sides. There are a lot of rumors right now—and that’s why I decided to reach out to Sam’s and give them a chance to respond and talk more about that night.

As stated yesterday, their cameras inside don’t work due to a maintenance issue that happened upstairs in the Hall of Fame portion of the building a couple months ago. I’m told it affected their whole 16 camera system. That happened last Fall and they hadn’t gotten their cameras repaired. He said as a result of what’s happened, he has now taken out another credit card to update and repair the system, saying the old cameras were only 2 megapixels anyways and wouldn’t have been much of a help.

As for the night Achim was asked to leave, I asked why. I had several people reach out to me and said that he was clearly drunk. The owner tells me he was asked to leave because he flirted inappropriately with a woman (that he says involved physical contact.) He says that it’s something that can happen at every bar, but given the times we’re living in, he says that he was asked to leave. The owner says he knows Achim; he was a regular and was always respectful, so when he was asked to leave by the bouncer, there was no confrontation and Achim did so peacefully.

Now, it was cold that night, so I asked him what is the policy when someone gets kicked out. How were they going to make sure he got home safely or had a ride? He said that it’s their policy to call and pay for an Uber or taxi when someone is clearly intoxicated. I asked for an honest answer of whether or not the bouncer thought Achim was drunk when he was asked, and he says that Achim showed no signs of that. I disputed that, telling him several people told me he was and video shows it, and asked him then what’s the case after someone gets kicked out...noting how cold it was that night. He said that since the bar was closing soon, they didn’t know whether or not his friends were still inside. So I asked given the cold the temperatures that night and not knowing his transportation situation, why was he kicked out and left to stand outside...without knowing if he drove or was getting picked up? The owner said that’s a valid question, and they’ll reevaluate their policy.

Unlike the property management company, the owner is willing to communicate with me, answering my calls and keep me posted through this process. Will continue to keep you all updated.

That is the ONLY reporter consistently following this case. His Facebook is loaded with good information. He is interviewing the parents of Achim again today to give this case more publicity.

Words can't describe how much that reporter has helped. I doubt anyone would be asking questions or keeping Achim's face in the news

So....video shows he WAS drunk? I’m confused. The bar owner said he was, but the bouncer said he wasn’t? Where’s the Uber the owner says they call as Policy? Were a bunch of balls dropped or what? Ugh. I’m just annoyed because this didn’t have to happen to Achim. Where were his friends? I wonder if his phone records will show if he called any friends that were inside the bar after he got bounced. If I’m this frustrated, I can’t even imagine his poor family! And who doesn’t fix their cameras for MONTHS. It’s a bar! Stuff happens in bars! Thus, the cameras. If you can’t afford to fix your cameras, maybe you can’t afford to own a bar, no? I’m so upset. Where’s Achim? Did nobody see anything at all? This is all just my very frustrated opinion, JMO.

The bar kicked him out for flirting inappropriately so they did not call a cab or uber, they only do that if you're kicked out due to intoxication. The reporter called them on it and said that he was drunk so it wasn't safe to just tell him to leave. That's when the owner said he would reevaluate the policy.

Achim was alone at that point, no friends with him.

Oh jeez-so often we see this, and it doesn’t end well.

Well now, going from that, was the poor woman alone when he flirted inappropriately with her, or was she with a group of friends herself? That could lead in another direction, if she had a boyfriend or a group of friends with her. Nothing has been mentioned about this situation- especially since it was close to closing time...

No word on the woman.

But the reporter has said that the family has been shown all footage of Achim and he was walking alone in every video. Seems unlikely that he was followed by anyone.

Someone could have happened to see him as he walked but there isn't honestly much to point to foul play here.

Though I do wish we had more info about any texts or calls

So he was escorted out, but didn't seem intoxicated. Video shows him walking alone, so maybe he was walking around waiting until his father was supposed to pick him up? He walked up the street and then back to the bar to meet his dad? Sounds like something happened as he came back to the bar. Maybe someone recognized him there? Everyone was getting out, seems like someone must have seen him in the area.

Yes, they saw photos of him walking outside, but not inside the bar because the owner said the cameras weren't working.

Would if they knew who he was, maybe met him elsewhere by car? Just thinking out loud, I am probably wrong and they have nothing to do with him being missing.

On January 13, Achim went missing after a night out at Samuel’s at the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Bailey’s dad said that at 1:40 a.m., cameras captured Achim being escorted out of the bar. Shortly after he was seen leaving, heading towards Hall of Fame Avenue.

Springfield Police said that thanks to street cameras, they spotted Achim walk towards Boland Way, but then cameras lost sight of him as he entered a parking lot near the Memorial Bridge.

Cameras later captured someone believed to be Achim Bailey walking down the railroad tracks, heading towards the South End Bridge close to 3 a.m.

That is the last location Achim's phone would be pinged.

Family shifting search efforts for missing Springfield man

A billboard is also going up to remind anyone with information to contact the Springfield Police Department.

So earlier information had him sighted as far north as Hampden Street, I guess this has been discounted.

This article says he went north only to the Memorial Bridge and then turned south on the tracks, past Samuel's and towards the south bridge and the Chevy dealership, where his phone last pinged. The last camera was probably at the Hilton, just south of Samuel's. So maybe he did not return to Samuel's although he walked right by the bar.

Why go near the South Bridge? Antonio's Pizza near there was open until 3AM. There is nothing else in this area that would be a logical destination.

Where does he live? How did he plan to get home? Why this illogical walk that he was on? Why walk alone on the railroad tracks when there are streets parallel to the tracks?
