That may have been a cover? Maybe she wanted her Mother to be told any of her concerns in person. It could have also been to make BW think she was still making plans for them.

I have a family member who has worked in psychiatric hospitals for nearly 3 decades. In my experience this is exactly right, if a patient is not a threat to themselves or others they are processed out of the hospital quickly. There is an exception for some for-profit private psychiatric facilities where you can stay as long as you want if you or your family keep paying the bills. Maybe a family member bankrolled that to keep him out of trouble for a time.

... or he was considered a danger to himself or others.

Most of the current home equity was created with the flip of the Jerusalem Road house ($585K before taxes, fees and expenses). It does seem like Ana owned properties sequentially, so I get the sense there is not hundreds of thousands of dollars in net worth held elsewhere in cash or securities. We know Brian got ~$500K from his mom to pay for his legal defense in the art scheme. Not sure where the reported $1mm plundered from his dad's estate went...

I believe in the court documents, another doctor wrote a letter stating that BW had stolen from his father prior to death, and wanted no further contact with his son.

I live downtown DC but her place is in Tenley where I coach soccer at Ft. Reno. There are three highly regarded DCPS schools there, a grammar, a middle and Jackson-Reed HS (formerly Wilson HS). It is a well off areas for DC but not too high end. It ids a safer neighborhood though. That is late 1990's build by the late Barrett Linde, one of DC most prolific colonial based townhouse developers active in 1970-s through early 2000s. A lot of what you are paying for there is that you are very close to red line metro which takes you down to K in a straight shot, and quality of public schools. There is a Whole Foods right there too. Basic commercial and residential real estate management account execs make very little money. But office operatons manager of a large prestige firm like that probably makes $100 to $200k.

Was there anything in the fraud charges that required him to liquidate his assets?
ETA They sold their home on Jerusalem Rd for 1.38 million on March 17th and bought the townhouse in DC for 1.3 million on March 18th. It appears they sold their home in Cohasset to fund the home in DC. And then started renting the home on Chief Justice General Cushing on March 11th.

My theory is that Ana, in whose sole name all the assets were titled, decided she was gradually going to move to DC. First she took the job there (Feb '22) then, when she sold the Jerusalem Rd house (March maybe?), she took the net proceeds and put them towards the expensive DC house. The DC house house now had most of the net proceeds from the Jerusalem Rd house and a $910K mortgage. Simply put, they could not buy another house, so they rented. And it's been said that his mom paid, or helped to pay, the rent.

edit to add: Ana sold one or more other MA properties and did not reinvest there. The only other property she kept was in Baltimore.
