Totally had the same thought. The property (which was always in his mother's name, not his) was sold in 2017 for $6.6 M. I think he kept the address because it implies prestige (a Beacon Street brownstone) and he may not have even admitted to anyone he wasn't living there anymore.

It also strikes me that it may have been where he was living when he met Ana....

As an aside, why didn't his federal tax liens (issued in 2011 for unpaid taxes from 2000 and 2002) ever get mentioned in his sentencing reports re: Warhol theft? Or did I miss them and they were referenced?
I haven't read about his tax liens but would like to if you have a link handy. TIA

If she was planning on leaving with the boys, she might have just waited until he was safely put in jail for the art crimes. But, I too believe she planned to go. There was an urgency in her appeal to her mom. I can't imagine how awful it must be to live in the same house as such a monster.
I wonder if the plan was for the children to move with her to DC and he has been stalling since she took the job in the city last year. Maybe she decided that enough is enough and she was just going to do it behind his back. The poor woman had the kids' bedrooms set up and everything. I don't believe Brian was welcome in her life anymore and maybe she played "nice" in order to not antagonize him since the kids were still living with him, maybe she feared she would lose access to the boys, even.

I don't believe BW was able to move out of MA due to his federal fraud case. I do believe, based on statements made by those close to AW, that she was miserable being away from her son's during the week. JMO MOO

Go to the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds/Land Records and search for records related to Brian R Walshe: https://www.masslandrecords.com/Suffolk/

The federal tax liens were issued in 2011 for unpaid business taxes in the 2000 and 2002 tax years (totaling $95,303.01 in unpaid taxes). The assessment is from 2008 and the liens posted in 2011.

The last date for refiling (payment) was in 2018, which strikes me as perhaps (IMO/MOO) as relevant to the schemes he had with the fake artwork and his father's estate in the years leading up to that.

There is no documentation filed that the liens were fulfilled/lifted (which I would expect to see...)

Has he had the ankle monitor since he made bail 5/11/2018? Or maybe since he pled/plead/pleaded guilty many months later?

I'm inclined to believe the ankle monitor was a condition of bond release on 5/11/18.

However, not unlike many defendants of BW's nature, this does not stop them from constantly pushing the envelope with motions to revise these conditions. For example, by 10/24/18, the defendant filed a motion to modify the conditions of release, and again on 2/12/19, 10/22/21, etc.
He's so tiring!

ETA: Confirming electronic monitoring was a condition back in May 2018.

A 43-year-old Lynn man who federal prosecutors say stole two Andy Warhol paintings from a former college classmate and then used them to produce counterfeits he sold to a Los Angeles gallery owner he met after posting them on eBay was released yesterday when his mother posted his $75,000 bail. [..] Magistrate Judge Jennifer C. Boal ordered Walshe to have no contact with his college roommate or Rivlin, submit to electronic monitoring and surrender his passport, among other conditions of his release.

Perhaps they were satisfied by the time of his 2018 arrest.

Outstanding!
"The international community in the New England area, including families who have had Ana's children over for play dates, want to care for them until Ana's mom comes to the United States from Serbia."
What are their chances of becoming Foster parents for the three boys?

I became excited watching the video when it looked like they were standing in front of a piece of artwork by Gustav Klimt, famous artist of The Kiss.

Bonkers that Mr Walshe touches all the bases of activity in the marvelous field of financial fraud. Fake art sales, "financial seminars", wine brokerage, real estate monkey business, and of course, stealing from the family estate. Did I miss anything?
My brother-in-law isn't this bad, but he was close. (barring violence!)
He jumped from money-making scheme to money-making scheme. He was an insurance broker who focused on 'investments' and put his elderly parents in high risk investments. He somehow came afoul of his business partner (wonder why?) and had to move on. His parents helped dig him out of his financial hole, even as he had 3 kids under 4 years old! Off he goes to NC (from Ontario) for a "great opportunity". A year later he says his new business partner screwed him and he was back in Ontario looking for handouts from mom & dad again. (I wonder if the screwing was the other way around.) They bought his family a brand new car. They paid for new furniture. (These parents weren't wealthy by any means...they were spending their retirement savings.) And then my BIL's daughter took to synchronized skating and he hired a $10k coach to help her. He bought a boat. etc., etc., etc. He became a mortage broker...looking for hot real estate deals.

You get the idea. These kind of people will never change.
My BIL then tried to steal well more than his share from my in-law's estate. It was no surprise.

ETA: my inlaws were 'on to him', but my MIL couldn't handle letting her grandchildren suffer. She couldn't dish out tough love. My FIL was more pragmatic, but wouldn't go against his wife. I'm so sorry they had to go through this crap in their later life.

Maybe both there and the Lenox house. Right around the time he and Ana met was the time he was ripping his dad off on the deal with the Lenox home. I'm assuming he did that so he'd have the money to wine and dine her.

This is honestly so heart breaking. I just wonder why some kids turn out like this and others don’t.

Yes, I do believe the mother will post his bond - she will live with him - just like old times - just the two of them again IMO
I don't know if that can be done just yet though because there is the matter of him not obeying the restrictions that were put on him in the federal court - so he may have to stay in jail pending resolution of that. IANAL so maybe one can weigh in?
With her assets, I'm not sure bailing him out would not be a precursor to *someone else* suddenly coming up missing. He'll be looking to run fast & far if he's ever on the street again.

Once a swindler (in his case make that multiples to the power of 2), always a swindler.

The judiciary has been too lenient & needs to rectify that immediately & permanently.

JMO

My bet the passports were the children’s and hers. Again I think she was going to take the kids and go back to Serbia. Any money she was able to get after liquidating things would be safer there from her husband than in the US. The urgent need for mother to come right away was for help getting her and kids back to Serbia. A few weeks later as suggested from Mom would be too late as she planed to be home before then. jMHO.
There are 2 US passports visible and the red jacketed document next to those could be a foreign passport. Who knows how that picture was obtained and how editors decided to crop it, etc. We will never know what was actually there on that counter but... would AW need passports for children ages 2, 4, and 6 if she had planned to go see her mom in Serbia with her 3 boys? I have no idea what passport requirements are for young children.

Yes, all children need passports. I’ve traveled internationally with my kids when they were babies and I was required to get a passport for both. I’m so glad it’s a requirement too. Would hate to think how much easier parental abduction of a child would be without a required passport for the child.

He may have been buying real art (with other peoples money)and had fakes made to resale the entire time. You don't just suddenly know someone who will fake a real piece of art! I suspect this has been in the works for a number of years. Wish I knew what his ebay name was!
Per the US vs Brian Walshe case of the fake Warhols he used AW's eBay account with account name ancili2012.

““Wow! 2022…What a year! And yet, we are still here and together! Let’s make 2023 the best one yet! We are the authors of our lives…courage, love, perseverance, compassion, and joy. Love, Ana,” reads the ominous message, written on the side of a Lanson Noble Cuvee champagne box.

The champagne sits in the kitchen of Ana and husband Brian Walshe’s family home, which appears to be largely untouched since the party, also attended by family friend Gem Mutlu.”

"And yet we are still here and together" does not sound overly celebratory to me.

I don't think we'll ever know.

I've definitely simplified the story...and left out details about my BIL's family, but, to your point, why do some people respond positively and others become ne'er-do-wells??

Why did BW end up like he did? I'm going to guess that it was lack of nurturing in his early years. I think he actually was a pawn in his parents' lives. Does it excuse what he has done? No. Of course not.

Why would passports be so visible? Most people secure them unless they are traveling.
