Bob Bozek of South Hadley said, “I’ve seen them here a couple of weeks ago. They had helicopters flying over the river when the water was low. Now it’s high and if she went into the water, she could be anywhere.”

With all the rain, searching for Brianna is even more difficult. The river is dangerous, police are warning you not to go near it.

Just after 8 o’clock Saturday night, Holyoke Police officers and firefighters searched the water along Main Street near the Waterfront Tavern.

Lt. Isaias Cruz told 22News a report came in just after 8 o’clock that someone who knew the family of Brianna Cuoco had information that Brianna may have been in that area.

Another search was scheduled for this past Sunday morning but there have been no updates.

It seems like they really feel she is in the water, in spite of early opinions that she is "out and about."

I hope more people come forward or they can get camera footage somewhere on her supposed path.

It always shocks me when I live just 30-45 minutes away from a place like this and I hear absolutely nothing about a missing person

Dropping this here in case it is useful to anyone. After going over it all again (be sure to read comments) I do not think this was accidental and look forward to the autopsy results.

Brianna had been living with her mom and stepfather, but recently begun staying with a friend. She continued to attend school and stay in touch. They later learned she was living with her on-again-off-again boyfriend in South Hadley (“Louisiana Tom”)
Jimmo said it is her understanding that the pair were at the home with a third friend when Cuoco left early Jan. 18 (Sunday night the 17th).

LT reported Cuoco missing around 12:50 a.m., but her family only found out something was wrong when police contacted them later that day — a Monday — to ask if they had seen or heard from her.

All her stuff was still at her mom’s. "She had come home that Saturday night (16th) to get some stuff. She said, 'I'll see you tomorrow to pick up more stuff,' and she never showed."

Summary of points in mother Holly Jimmo’s interview on 2/9

  • She has real concerns for Cuoco's safety because of statements Brianna made before her disappearance.
  • Jimmo said she doesn't believe investigators will find her daughter in the river, but said it is really suspicious how Cuoco has been completely off the map for three weeks. It is completely out of character, she said.
  • She never showed up for work, she never picked up her paycheck
  • Cuoco has not returned to classes at Chicopee Comprehensive High School. She has not had any contact with friends or posted anything on social media, her mother said. Even if she was angry with her family, Jimmo said, she would have contacted someone else by now.

Brianna Cuoco, of Chicopee, was last seen in the area of Bridge Street in South Hadley, according to a Facebook post by Chicopee Public Information Officer Michael Wilk…and has been missing since 1 a.m. Monday, he said.

He later reports, after her body is found, to be last seen on River Road.

The original post was edited and the date changed to announce her body being found, the original comments remain:

Police say a missing Chicopee teenager last seen in South Hadley early Monday was spotted Tuesday afternoon in Holyoke, according to the South Hadley Police Department, which has been involved in the search.

“We think she’s still out and about,” South Hadley Police Chief David Labrie said. “We believe she’s around. We don’t believe she’s in harm’s way.”

Was this a false lead or a media ploy?

River Search

State Police Lt. T.J. Murphy told 22News police dogs became interested in something either near the river or in the river, but nothing has been found.

“We want to stress that there is NO information suggesting any sightings in or near the river,” Chicopee Police wrote in a Facebook post Saturday. “This is all a normal part of this type of investigation.”

Second River Search

Today, state police and South Hadley emergency personnel are searching their side, Wilk said. A state police helicopter will likely join the search again today.

Holyoke Fire Department Capt. Anthony Cerruti said the department was asked to assist Massachusetts State Police Wednesday in their search. The search began at 10 a.m. and, as of 2:30 p.m., officers and firefighters were still searching the river near the Holyoke dam.

A state police helicopter was out flying over the area near Holyoke Dam Wednesday afternoon, as police and firefighters worked on the ground on the South Hadley side of the river. Holyoke Fire Capt. Anthony Cerruti says that his department also searched along the Holyoke side of the river in a boat, starting at around 10:00 Wednesday morning.

Third River Search

Michael Wilk, public information officer for Chicopee police, stressed that police have no evidence linking the teen's disappearance to foul play and that nothing has so far been found in the river.

Brianna’s mother reaches out to the media

Chicopee Public Information Officer Michael Wilk said that investigators were not focusing on the Connecticut River, but checking it out as they usually do when someone goes missing near the body of water.

"She was last seen on Bridge Street, which is near the river," he said. He said he has not heard any plans for future searches there.

  • Cuoco's relatives have organized search parties in South Hadley and Holyoke
  • The most recent search in Holyoke included about 60 people.
  • Wilk and Brianna’s mother both said that police have received a lot of tips from people who believe they may have seen Cuoco, but none have been confirmed sightings. There've been 14 mistaken identities in Holyoke alone

“the search continues”

South Hadley Police Lt. Steve Parentela told 22News officers have been doing random checks of the river on most shifts.
There’s no formal search, but 22News did see a helicopter flying over the river just south of the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Bridge.

AGAWAM, Mass. (AP) - A body found on the shore of the Connecticut River has been identified as that of an 18-year-old woman who was reported missing in January. The Springfield Republican reports Chicopee police confirmed Friday (2/15) that the body of Brianna Cuoco, of South Hadley, had been found. Authorities retrieved the body Thursday from the west shore of the river in Agawam after a kayaker discovered it. There's no word yet on a cause of death.

Aleksandr Tokarev, who was kayaking in the river, said he found the body facedown on the Agawam shore. He said he was returning from fishing when he discovered the body.

Tokarev said he found the body about 300 yards south of the Bondi's Island boat ramp at about 11:30 a.m., and he called 911.

Firefighters from Longmeadow, Agawam and West Springfield launched three boats into the river and recovered the body a short time later. The Chief Medical Examiner took possession of the body for autopsy and identification.

Agawam Police Sgt. Mark Pfau said Thursday it appeared to have been in the water for a while.

April 24, 2016

Lt. Jennifer Blanchette of the Agawam Police Department told 22News the body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s office in Boston, where the victim was identified as 18-year-old Brianna Cuoco.

Body confirmed to be Brianna by Holly in Agawam, reported to public by Chicopee Police Facebook and HALOS.

Chicopee Police Officer Michael Wilk, the department's public information officer, said Cuoco was last seen on River Road in South Hadley. Searchers from South Hadley, Chicopee and Holyoke combed the dense undergrowth along the river's shores, as well as the waters closest to the shore.

The cause of death is not yet known, according to Blanchette

“It’s still under investigation in terms of the matter of her death and as to what’s been going on in the time frame she’s been gone,” Blanchette said by telephone on Saturday.

[h=3]Friends, Chicopee Comp faculty honor life of Brianna Cuoco[/h]She was the type of girl you'd see at school and you smile at her, wave," said Karlee Hamelin, a friend of Cuoco's.
Hamelin had just gotten out of work when she found out a body was discovered in the Connecticut River. She feared it was her friend and former classmate who had gone missing earlier this year.
"At first, I was really upset and mad and I was like 'Why did this happen?' but a part of me is glad she was found and her family can be at peace," Hamelin added.
Hamelin's worst nightmare became a reality late last week when Cuoco's body was found after months of searching and countless unanswered questions surrounding her disappearance.

The Hampden County District Attorney’s office said in a release that the manner of Cuoco’s death was still under investigation. The body was found Thursday, April 21.
“This is an open and active case and no further information is available at this time,” the release stated.

Steven Cuoco, 51, was being held at the Hampshire County Jail during the three months that family, friends, police and firefighters were searching for his missing 18-year-old daughter, Brianna Cuoco.
He followed the case closely from the facility and was distraught when her body was recovered April 21 on the bank of the Connecticut River...
When the search for Brianna Cuoco was still ongoing, Cuoco sent two letters to MassLive/The Republican about his daughter and his hope that she was safe and "staying put" somewhere. He expressed gratitude for everyone who helped in the search for "my girl."

The comments on this one --whew. Where are all these voices demanding answers for Brianna and her mother?

At this point there aren't any answers, just condolences and prayers for healing...

If any of you think this was a suicide, please check Brianna's mother's FB page and look at the shared image of Brianna posted by family friend CD today. It has details below of what the concerning situation was prior to her going missing and why it is being investigated as a suspicious death.

According to the Justice for Brianna Lynn Cuoco page, her cause of death is undetermined - ie not drowning, not traumatic injury, not drugs. She was likely dead before she entered the water. If we can all try sleuthing a little bit more to help LE and the HALOS group aiding her mom, it may help them get one step closer to the truth.
