And that raises another question. Why? Why would she be walking, in the dark, and in freezing or near-freezing temperatures? Was her bf home when she left? Is his car also in need of repair?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That’s where the possibility of substance abuse comes into play. I can’t find any evidence of that, but we’ve seen it a million times with meth. These people just take off into the woods and succumb to exposure.

Everyone I’ve talked to, to include my friends who know her, really doubt that theory. It’s still on the table for me though, as is foul play.

I just don’t see this ending well.

Has anyone ever seen a DA take the lead on a search for a voluntarily missing person before? I'm starting to wonder if maybe he has a connection to the family?
Actually yes, because sometimes it turns out, the missing adult was in fact, not voluntarily missing.

MOO, but since she’s been missing for this length of time there are a couple of probabilities that come to my mind. Either she is being held against her will and cannot communicate with family or LE, or she may be deceased. Again, MOO.

I hope I’m wrong on both of these scenarios.

It doesn’t seem logical that she would be missing this long without communicating with family in some way if she was able to do so.

I haven’t seen this particular DA do that ever. Everytime he’s involved, it’s a crime. I do wonder if this may be an outlier though, and it isn’t a crime. We don’t know enough at this point, but there’s only one suspect in my mind if this is foul play.

I am rarely on the fence but I find myself there in this one. Self-harm? Why take her ipad? Tragic accident of some kind? Then why hasn't she been found? And on and on...

Why does LE seem so convinced that she's in the area? That's what I really want to know. MOO

Yeah, the iPad, and phone would point more to foul play (someone trying to keep a secret). I just want more info.

Wallet and phone make sense, but the fact that they’re saying they think she had her phone because they can’t find it, tells me it may have been turned off.

Suspicious. I’m all over the place on this one.

What was this miscommunication?

Search for missing woman continues in Brookfield - The Boston Globe

... relatives did not immediately report her missing because of a miscommunication that led them to believe they knew where she was.

Mother of missing Brookfield woman Brittany Tee: 'I just want her home'

“We do believe that she’s in the area. There are multiple possibilities. That’s why we’re asking for help,” Early said.

“But she might have gone to a friend’s house,” he added. “She might be in several different places that the family is aware of — I don’t want to get into those conversations — just that we know she’s missing and we haven’t heard from her.” - Worcester DA Joseph D. Early

Some cities are friendlier to walkers.

My friend lives in Portsmouth NH, and when I visit him Thanksgiving weekend (tradition), we often see people walking.

I mean, we don't "see people walking like NYC or Boston"; but it's not like LA either.

Yes, it appears to be a small, close-knit community, 16.6 sq miles with a population of 3,439 people. And there have been a number of reports that everyone knows Brittany - either from working as a waitress at the diner in town, or from the liquor store where she currently works. I'm sure she probably felt safe walking there.

The issue for me is that it was 8:30 PM and dark. It was also 30° at the time. So, if she was going over a block or two to a friend's house or something, I suppose I could understand that. But we don't know where she was going.

And to be fair, I must admit that we don't know whether her bf may have offered her a ride. Maybe he did and she simply preferred to walk. MOO

On Saturday, authorities orchestrated a large search for Tee that covered more than 250 acres. The operation was conducted in a large wooded area near her home and along Route 9 and Route 148.

Several agencies were involved in the search, including Massachusetts State Police, Worcester and Holden police, the central Massachusetts and Berkshire Mountain Search and Rescue, and trained civilian units.

Authorities are looking into whether Tee may be beyond the 3-mile radius they've been searching.

“What we really want to make sure is that anyone that has any video at all, and a lot of people have come forward – it’s been very helpful,” District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said at the conference. “If it doesn’t lead us somewhere, it helps us to eliminate different things that can help us go into the right direction. But check your garages, check your sheds – if you’ve got a hunting blind, check that, too.”

Early also said Tee was believed to have had her phone on her at the time she was last seen, and that state and local police were actively working with Apple and Facebook to obtain electronic evidence that might assist in the investigation.

The chances of her wandering into that wooded area as a cut through to another street or something seems likely to me, trips in the dark and falls into some water, doesn’t take long to freeze to death especially if you have a couple drinks in you. Not that they have said she was drinking, just seems like something that could happen. Your drinking, get into a tiff with your boyfriend, grab your stuff and storm out, “to cool off” maybe at a friends, maybe at a bar and she figured she could thumb a ride.

Meanwhile Joe Early the DA has been known to have “questionable” decision making skills.

Shades of Debbie Collier - except Brittany hasn't been found. If she was on foot when she disappeared, unless she was abducted - she should have been located by now?
