Incident in August 2002 involving Chris Albert. Witness was off-duty drinking alcohol. He was approached by Chris Albert and told that Chris was in an altercation and threats were made. Those other individuals approached them and a fight was about to ensue. Witness stopped the fight. Defense thinks the witness interfered on behalf of his friend. Ultimately a fight broke out and the witness engaged in the fight. He was off duty at the time. Witness said he was struck and that’s when he engaged in the fight. Other officers arrived on scene and broke up the fight. No one was arrested that night. Someone in the other party filed a complaint the next day against the witness. After this complaint, the witness and other officers filed a complaint against the other party in the fight.
He activated himself on the night of John O’Keefe’s murder after he was told what had happened. He was the Sergeant Detective that night and due to go on duty at 7:45 am.
Defense suggests that this shows a pattern of this officer coming into the aid of Chris Albert.
What a stretch!!!!! Police officers have friends and they may occasionally aid them. The idea they would go so far as to risk their liberty to cover up a murder is insane. There is literally nothing to suggest why the Albert family would murder John O’Keefe.
