They may have been told he used to light a campfire there. It’s also possible that they are tracing his movements via his phone and they have examined satellite pics from May 2007. But this could be NSA info that they would never share.

Yeah, I noticed that comment. Wasn't quite sure what to make of it.
Don't know whether he is stating something he's heard about the German's hypothesis as part of the search remit or just referring back to one of his old theories about the crematorium.

Searches at the Arade dam, in Silves, in the context of the Maddie McCann case, a girl who disappeared in 2007, have ended. The traces found will be analyzed in Germany, the country that requested the operations.

Authorities conducted searches on land and in water. Correio da Manhã knows that trees were cut down to make excavations in the land. They tried to look for irregularities in the land, to see if they found mortal remains or something connected to Maddie.
According to Correio da Manhã , a relevant clue was found this Thursday. Several inspectors were seen concentrated in a specific area in the place where the searches took place.
At the end of the day, the balance of the Judiciary Police (PJ) through a statement or press conference will account for what was recovered.
So far, there are no indications that the traces collected are related to the English girl. This Friday it is known whether what has already been found will be cataloged and analyzed.
The searches, carried out by the PJ and requested by the German authorities, were attended by the British authorities. Civil Protection, Firefighters and GNR also assisted in the steps.
During the first day of work, the police searched for fibers from Maddie's pajamas . State-of-the-art technology and trail dogs were also used to detect human remains in that area.
The Arade dam is located 50 kilometers from Praia da Luz, where Maddie disappeared 16 years ago. It became a point of interest for the authorities after it was found that the main suspect, Christian Bruckner, went there relatively frequently.
German investigators believe it is possible that the girl was killed in the dam and thrown into the water. The German did not confess to the crimes.

Seyferth said he threw the gun in the Santa clara dam and the video cameras were allegedly left in a van in Rebel farm. The article says the investigators think there may be images of MM on the camera which seems like BS since the camera was stolen from CB's house a year before MM disappeared. Meanwhile German proscutor Hans Christian Wolters told MailOnline:'We will see how successful we were after the search is complete.
'If necessary, we will then issue a short press release in the coming week. But that also depends on the result of the action.
'If we don't find anything, we will certainly tell you quickly.. If there were any finds, this would probably not be possible.'

The reports about the gun and possible footage seem to be nothing more than pure speculation to me.
More interesting to me seems to be the date of the investigation. It's may. Again. 2023.
15 years + 1 seem to be the perfect and at least absolutely safe amount of time that has passed, not to be prosecuted for most existing crimes at last. Statute of limitations, especially in portugal.
Like giving aid to an abduction maybe....
